Derek's POV
I had Alvin and Rolf call Alphas of the surrounding packs in the banquet to figure out a search plan in the meeting room.
Afterward, I contacted some of the bosses who had cooperated with my company.
All of this didn't make me feel relaxed for a single moment.
Though a little restless, Leo did not affect me at that time.
Finding Kyrian and Tabitha was our common goal.
Kyrian, the little boy, had never left his family before, while Tabitha, though with Alpha blood, had to confront rogues.
I frowned upon thinking of this and became even more uneasy.
I blocked the news of Kyrian's missing.
After the fireworks display, I ended the banquet ahead of schedule.
The guests were still unaware of what had happened, but the Black Thorn Pack guards quickly arrived at the Rikta Manor to evacuate them.
When everyone else had been sent away from the Rikta Manor, Daphne immediately started causing a scene.
"Why not let someone go to find Tabitha? That bitch conspired with rogues to abduct my son. She..."
I furrowed my brow and glanced at Alvin.
Alvin glared at Daphne with disgust.
This was the first time my Beta had expressed dissatisfaction with Daphne so explicitly.
Then Alvin turned around and left the meeting room.
Soon, he dragged a man in and kicked him in the buttocks.
The man fell down in front of me, rolling and crawling.
I looked down at him. He was Daphne's uncle, Nicholas Howard.
Seeing this, Daphne got furious. "What do you mean? Why are you arresting my uncle instead of looking for Tabitha?"
"Why? I wonder what you want to do?"
I sat on the sofa, feeling extremely irritated.
Then I threw a stack of lists on the table.
"I took out twenty million for Kyrian's birthday banquet. How much did he skim off?"
Nicholas was Daphne's mother Megan's only brother.
After Megan's death, the Amber's Eye Pack felt indebted to the Howard family.
So they incorporated Nicholas into the pack and treated him well all along.
Unfortunately, he was accustomed to idling around and gambling.
This time, Daphne insisted on Nicholas arranging the one-year-old birthday party for Kyrian, clearly giving him a chance to skim off from it.
"It's fine that you feel sorry for your uncle and let him earn some money. But have you ever considered that he simply cannot execute such plans? Not only did he purchase ingredients that were not fresh in order to save money, but he also abandoned the professional team that I had hired at great expense and instead hired unprofessional people with no security experience. Some set off fireworks and others watched them, causing serious safety hazards at such a crucial time!"
"Alpha Derek, listen to me. I..."
I impatiently raised my hand to interrupt.
I stood up and walked towards Nicholas, my body blocking the glare of the overhead incandescent lamp, casting a shadow on him.
"In order to save money, you only used the original masters but drove away their apprentices, hiring cheap laborers. What do you think this place is? Your backyard?"
Nicholas stood up to explain, "I... I was just trying to save some money for you. After all, money doesn't grow on trees..."
I kicked him on the shoulder, and Nicholas begged for mercy in extreme pain.
Leo roared in my mind.
I raised my hand and extended my wolf claws, grabbing Nicholas' shoulder.
He was in so much pain that he couldn't speak.
"If you hadn't hired people without checking their backgrounds just to save money, they wouldn't have easily infiltrated into the estate! If Kyrian and Tabitha got injured, you would be thrown into the sea to feed the sharks!"
I had seen the list and the actual quotation, and the price of eggs alone was five times higher than the market price.
I knew Nicholas was a bit greedy, but I never expected him to go that far just to make money.
"Nicholas, you ruined it this time!" Daphne threw the quotation sheet onto his face.
Nicholas still wanted to explain, "I had no idea it would turn out like this. I clearly had someone train them. Kyrian's disappearance has nothing to do with me. I..."
I tightened my grip on his shoulder.
With Leo's anger, I started releasing my Alpha aura.
I stared at the greedy middle-aged man and said, "If you keep arguing, I will cut off your tongue."
Hearing this, Nicholas quickly covered his mouth, trembling with fear all over his body.
Thinking that Kyrian and Tabitha were abducted because of this bastard, I couldn't help but wish to torture Nicholas to death.
Just then, Alvin walked in, wearing a gloomy expression on his face.
"We checked Ms. Hartley's phone location, but there was no signal. As for the speedboat, it did not return to the harbor but sailed into the deep sea."
The worst thing happened. The sea was the most unpredictable, and it cut off all the traces.
Daphne hurriedly ran over and said, "It's Tabitha, just find her. At worst, we can hold John hostage, then she will definitely return Kyrian."
I stopped in my tracks and turned around to look at Daphne.
"Derek, I..."
"Daphne, sometimes I wonder what's inside your head. You better pray that they're safe and sound. Otherwise, even Randall could not save Nicholas!"
