LUCIEN’S POV
When I awoke, it was to the sweet aroma of pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I smiled, sat up and rubbed my head.
The sun was already high up in the sky, and the room was lit up beautifully. A smile found my face, as I recalled the beautiful night with Adria. When I had discovered she was a vampire, I had thought our blissful days were over, but I didn’t know there were still more to come.
I picked up my phone, and saw it was four in the afternoon.
“Woah…” I exclaimed softly, got up from the bed, and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After brushing, I went down the stairs to greet Adria.
“We’re having breakfast at noon now?” I asked, with a smile, and she giggled as she set the table.
“It’s Brunch. I was about waking you, though.” She replied, heading back to the kitchen.
“Really?” I asked, picking a chair for me to settle in.
Then a message popped up on my phone.
“Damn.” I muttered.
“What’s the matter?” Adria asked, already settling in her seat.
“I was supposed to be at a meeting by six. I didn’t even have enough time to prepare. We were so busy.”
“A meeting by six? What kind of meeting commences by six?”
“Well, it’s a meeting of the wolves and the Lycans in the human world. Most of us are the working type, and don’t get off work until six, even on weekends.” I explained, taking a pancake, and she nodded slowly.
“I see.” She muttered. “Yesterday was like… my best day ever. I truly enjoyed it, and it’s all thanks to you.”
“Thanks to me? We both made it fun. Your presence alone in this house made it bubbly.” I added, and she blushed.
“Oh, come on.” She said, and giggled. “Wait. Why do you think Derek ran off? He was quite determined days ago.”
“I found him.”
“You did?”
“Yeah, I found him, and told him I’d hunt him down if he didn’t stop. Well, he took one more girl, and I was really going to hunt him down, but he ran off, and you asked me not to go after him.” I explained, and drank some water.
“Wow. I can really trust you.” She commented, looking at me with a smile.
“Yes, you can.”

By seven, I was still in the meeting, sitting, and waiting for the men to conclude the long talk we’d been having.
“You seem like you have somewhere else to be at.” Zayne, who had come from the Palace, said in my ear.
“Well, Adria’s waiting, and these men keep on worrying.” I replied, and his eyes widened.
“You’re back with Adria?”
“Oh, I didn’t tell you? Yeah, that’s true. I didn’t tell you. Well, it slipped my mind with all the chaos going on. We’ll talk about it after the meeting.
“This is not something to joke about. These nasty vampires took another human.” A wolf said, and I decided to speak. Maybe I might as well be able to end the meeting.
I hadn’t spoken because I was rushing, and thinking of Adria, while they argued about coming clean to the human government or not. They all seemed to be scared of the human government, and thought it would be nasty if the humans discovered they couldn’t apprehend the vampires taking humans.
“It’s not Vampires with an ‘S’ but Vampire. All these have been done by a single vampire, but luckily, he ran off after I spoke to him yesterday.”
Murmurs broke out, and they began to talk again, wasting time.
“I’ve chased the vampire out. He says he’s returning, but when he does, I’ll take care of it.”
“Still, we need to be alert. If this was done by one vampire. How much more the other killer vampires in hiding? We have to be alert.”
“Then let’s make that our conclusion. Staying alert. I shall take my leave now.” I said, rising from my seat before any of them could raise another issue.
Zayne followed, and we left the restaurant we had gathered in immediately.
“So, would you tell me what happened now, and how it all happened? And do you know there might be consequences for staying with her?” Zayne asked in concern.
“Yes I do. Now listen. It all started this way. I left, and didn’t talk to Adria because I knew I needed to distance myself from her. Then she met this guy… A vampire…”
“You don’t mean the vampire who caused all this, do you?” Zayne asked with wide eyes.
“The same vampire.”
“Damn.” He whispered.
“So, unknown to me, she was forming a friendship with him, not knowing he was manipulating her. He made her drink blood continuously until she couldn’t control her urge for more blood. She turned into something else, and preyed on humans along with Derek, but on a certain night. She made the mistake of almost killing her friend, and that seemed to jarr her back to her senses.
“She realized she had been wrong, and apologized, begging me to help her control her thirst for blood. Honestly, it feels like my fault. She was new to the whole vampire thing, so I could have easily influenced her in a good way, but instead I had left her all on her own.”
“We all make mistakes.”
“So, since then, she’s saved a human from being a victim, and for that reason, the vampire began to prey on her course mates.”
“Then you caught him and warned him.” Zayne added.
“And he ran off, promising to return.”
“Well, when he returns, we’ll be well-prepared for him.” Zayne said, and I smiled.
“Well said.” I complimented him, and just then, I got a call from Adria.
A smile lit up my face, and I picked the call.
“Hey…”
“Lucien. The bodies have been found.” She informed me frantically, and I knew what she feared.
