Alpha's Caged Love

Max's mysterious mate

Ch. 81 / 159 May 05, 2026

Max watched the girl as she went out to do some late-night shopping. She appeared to have primarily purchased meat with the money he gave her. She moved to a trailer park a few miles away as he continued to pursue her. As she entered a small rental trailer, Max parked the van around a curve and watched her. She sounded as though she were preparing dinner. He gasped when a truck dropped off several men in front of the trailer.

"Those are wolves," he murmured. "Rogue wolves."

"Do they frequently share trailer parks with human women?" He pondered. "But why did they accompany Kylie?"

Rogues stayed away from humans, and they usually found the human women with them, dead. This circumstance made little sense.

The men entered the trailer after taking their work boots off outside. Based on the sounds coming from the listening device, they were pleased that Kylie had bought dinner. As Kylie finished preparing their meal, the rogues chatted with her about their day. They spoke to her like a sister in a typical family manner. Max regretted having considered eliminating them.

"We've never seen rogues act like this or live with a human that wasn't abused," Max said to Cayden.

Cayden nodded and continued to listen on the wire.

"Exactly how were you able to afford this much meat?" one rogue asked Kylie as they ate.

"It was a good night at the club, Sam. I am good at what I do," she replied.

"Did you sell something again?" One rogue asked.

"I didn't sell anything; you know I stopped dealing in drugs." Kylie lied.

"Selling drugs will get you in trouble, too," another male voice intoned. "The human police will take you away from us. We'd have trouble getting you out. We've got to stick together. This family is all we have. Please stop selling that stuff."

"I didn't; one customer was very generous and gave me a lot of money."

"You should have just let us do Marcus's bidding."

"No!" Kylie shouted.

"You know what happened to you in that forest? You were almost killed."

"You shouldn't have gone alone, Kylie; all packs are dangerous. They will kill us if they find us. It's lucky that you made it out alive. "

"How could you do that to us, Kylie?"

"Hey, I told you, I just went there to investigate." She was agitated.

"Really? You didn't offer to do the job instead of us?" An angry male voice said.

"I have no clue what you are talking about. I just went to check on that place."

"In a stolen car?"

"Stop nagging me if you want food." Kylie seemed annoyed.

"On that note," one man said, "there's a guy who promised us $100 each to come and work the graveyard shift for him on the new road construction." We accepted the offer. We're in for a long day, but we need the money."

"You just got home," Kylie said plaintively, "and you look exhausted. Can't you just not go tonight? I'll work an extra couple of shifts at the club and make up for it."

"I don't like you dancing for strangers, Kylie. It's dishonourable."

"Sorry, sis," another voice said, "it's hard to find work with the packs cracking down, and Marcus is after us to recruit. We'll be home by dawn. Just lock the door and be safe, okay? Don't let anyone in."

"Well, how are you planning to get there?" she asked. "Do you need the car keys?"

"No, we'll leave you the car. We'll run. It's a straight shot through the field and up Highway 51."

The conversation between the rogues and the girl was strange. This didn't sound typical for the way rogues treated female humans.

"Cayden, what's going on?" Max said to him in a confused tone. "What do I do?"

Cayden spoke into a radio, "Take out the rogues when they reach fifty-one," and then he paused. "Don't harm them. Bring them back to the pack alive and unharmed after you capture and subdue them. I want to talk to them. Get your mate. She knows too much."

He could hear Max sighing in relief.

"Thank you very much, Alpha; my mate adores her family." Max let out a sigh. "She would never forgive us if they were harmed."

A short distance from the trailer park, Cayden sat thoughtfully in his car. The rogues would be manageable for Max and his warriors. He was preoccupied when his other phone beeped, and he answered the call. His face tensed as he heard Natasha speak from the other side.

"Where is she now?"

"I have locked her up in the dungeon. You want me to move her somewhere else?" Natasha asked.

"No. Let her be there. Don't touch her until I return." Cayden sped the car back to his pack.

*************

Max waited in the van and watched the rogues head off a few minutes later. He sat quietly in the van, but his wolf was itching to go get Kylie.

"Are you the FBI?" an elderly female voice screeched from outside.

Max rolled down his window and said, " No, I am definitely not with the FBI."

"FBI!!!!!" the woman screamed.

The trailer park was illuminated, and a woman continued to yell that the FBI would soon take over. Peter dashed towards the trailer door as Max cursed. Their meticulously planned strategy had devolved into shambles.

When they left the trailer park about twenty minutes later, it was without Kylie. She had disappeared without a trace.

Max had broken into the trailer, but the girl was nowhere to be found. The trailer was clean and well-kept. Two small bedrooms were available. The men appeared to be using one, while Kylie slept alone. This was unlike any other rogue pack he'd encountered. Max muttered incoherently about losing his mate.

"Catch those rogues, and I will chase the girl." Max commanded the warriors and followed Kylie's enticing scent. The warriors nodded in agreement and quickly set off to catch the rogue pack.
