The only sound in the otherwise deafening silence inside the room in the pack's basement hospital was the barely audible hum of the cool air coming out of the air vents. Three covered bodies were on separate tables, looking like grotesque exhibits. The white sheets that covered them were stained with blood and had random spots on them. All three bodies, which have yet to be identified, met a gruesome end.
The rogue slumped unconscious while hanging in chains on the wall as the four people who were facing the one-way mirror watched grimly. The rogue had occasionally been abominably uncooperative and openly defiant.
"Any ideas on how we should proceed? They appear to be unaffected by torture at all." Cayden whispered.
"Everyone has a breaking point, you know that," Natasha replied. "If you allow me... I can try a different approach and see if we can get them to talk. Maybe they have a weakness we haven't discovered yet," Natasha suggested with an evil glint. She was loving it.
"Not yet, but Max is doing a good job. You can have your fun once he is done." Cayden replied. He didn't want Natasha to kill the rogues. Natasha nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of Max's work. She took a deep breath and prepared herself for the task ahead.
A while later, a frustrated Max came out of the torture room.
Shaking his head at his Alpha, he said, " They know nothing."
"They don't know, or you weren't persuasive enough?" Natasha smirked.
Max glared at Natasha.
"Maybe you can use your magic on these rogues. Even with the help of those silver manacles, I didn't make much progress." Max informed them.
She dipped her head towards the slumped rogue.
"I guess I can try," she said rather gleefully.
She walked inside while the chained rogue was slowly stirring into consciousness. She watched him blink at the bright light trained on him. Seeing the two enforcers in the room, he slowly straightened and glowered evilly at them. A smirk curled his split lips.
"You'll not get anything from me or any of us," he spat scathingly. "We know nothing."
Natasha said nothing and didn't show any emotion as she waited for him to finish. After a few moments of tense silence, she spoke in a low, measured tone.
"Oh, I am not here to interrogate you. I am here just for some fun." She grinned.
"What is she talking about?" Max asked, confused.
"Natasha has her own ways of doing things," Cayden shrugged.
"Have you ever considered sending her for some therapy?" Max said while he watched Natasha lash the rogues with a whip spiked with silver thorns.
Cayden shook his head and replied, "I don't think therapy is necessary. She's just like that and knows how to handle herself."
Max's phone rang, and he walked out of the torture room to take the call.
"Beta Max, I have information for you regarding the licence plate number that you sent us." Their contact from the FBI called him.
"Yes, tell me," Max asked eagerly.
"That car appears to be stolen. Last week, some teenagers stole it. Where did you discover it?"
Max's eyes widened in surprise as he listened to the details. "I came upon it near the forest," he replied, his mind racing with questions about who that woman was. And why was she in the forest?
"And who was driving it?" Fred from the FBI asked,
"I don't know, but if you find out anything, please let me know."
****************
Three women, Anna, Maya, and Selena, were sitting on the couch while watching the news on television. They seemed tense and worried.
Anna sighed. " I can't believe there was a rogue attack."
Maya nodded. "I know, it's scary. I don't want to leave the pack house."
Selena interjected. "But what about our shopping plan?" "We've been talking about it for weeks now."
Anna and Maya looked at each other, then back at Selena. Selena looked at them hopefully.
"No, it's too dangerous." Anna said, shaking her head. Maya nodded in agreement. "We can't risk it, Selena."
"Oh, come you. I am fed up with being cooped up inside. I understand that there was a rogue attack, and Cayden has put everyone on lockdown. But we can drive around for a bit."
Anna and Maya looked sceptical. Selena had approached them because they were her only hope of getting out of the compound.
"Guys, I found this amazing sale happening today. We can get some great stuff at half the price!" Selena said, pointing out the sale on her phone.
"But the rogue attack." Anna was still reluctant.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean we can't go. It's not like the attack is happening in the mall."
"Selena, come on. It's not safe to go out right now. We don't know who all might be involved in these attacks and how far they might go." Maya persisted.
"Besides, they attacked you. You are still weak! We need to be cautious and take the necessary measures to ensure our safety. We can't afford to underestimate the severity of the situation."
"But we've been planning this for so long. We can't let some rogues ruin our plans." Selena said it impatiently.
"I understand how you feel, Selena, but we need to put our safety first. Let's postpone our shopping trip until things calm down." Anna said soothingly.
"But when will that be? I don't want to wait for days or weeks." Selena made her most disappointing face.
Maya suddenly thought of an alternative. "How about we shop online instead? It's safer and more convenient."
Anna agreed. "That's a good idea."
"I don't understand the internet very well." Selena said. " I still want to see and feel the clothes before buying them. You can always visit the store and try on the clothes before purchasing them online. Many stores also offer free returns, so you can order multiple sizes and return the ones that don't fit."
Anna and Maya exchanged glances again and came to a compromise.
"We can do one thing. One of the pack members runs a nice boutique just after the motorway. It's not too far from pack land. We can shop there. We can still shop, but at a safer location." Maya said.
"That's a great idea. I knew I could count on you." Selena said so excitedly.
"Yes, let's do that. I don't want to risk our safety." Maya smiled.
"Okay, it's settled. We'll go to the boutique, but we'll be extra careful."
The three women stood up from the couch and prepared to leave. They exchanged reassuring smiles and hugs before heading out the door.
