Spencer, who was studying pharmaceutical ingredients in the laboratory, was interrupted when the door suddenly opened and Thalia walked in. He looked at her with slight confusion as she approached him. Her gaze showed a mix of heartache, sympathy, and determination, leaving him puzzled.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
Thalia remained silent, but then she wrapped her arms around his waist and confessed, "No matter who you are, I just wanted to tell you that I like you for who you are. It's not about anything else."
Spencer continued to frown, unsure of how to respond to her sudden confession.
"It's alright, really," she murmured while resting her cheek against his chest.
He gently pushed her away while keeping her arms around his waist, and looked at her with a lowered gaze. "What are you trying to say?"
Thalia reminded herself of Nelly's warning, that men have fragile egos in situations like this. Despite knowing the truth, he still asks me that question. It shows how unwilling he is to accept it.
With that thought in mind, Thalia smiled at him and answered, "It's nothing. I just wanted to tell you that. I was really happy last night."
"Really?" he asked.
She nodded enthusiastically. "Yes!"
He couldn't help but recall the memories of the previous night. She was already stunningly beautiful, but there was a certain allure in her eyes after drinking some wine, and her red lips looked captivating under the dim light.
With that thought, he also smiled. "That's good. As long as you're happy." Looking at her, he suddenly said with shyness, "You're actually pretty great too."
Confused, he narrowed his eyes and asked, "Huh?"
"You know I've never cared about anything else. I only care about you. So, no matter the reason, don't leave me," she said, observing his reaction.
He nodded, seemingly coming to a realization. After a moment of silence, he finally asked, "Is there something wrong?"
Thalia asked, "Really?"
He nodded with a smile. "Yes."
She felt relieved when she saw his resolute gaze. "You'd better keep your promise," she said, feeling at ease.
He thought about how he had initiated a kiss the night before and refrained from going further. In a whisper, he asked, "Is there any issue with my abilities?"
Nelly intended to wash up, but her legs had turned jelly-like, making it impossible for her to stand up. She finally understood what Alpha Kilian meant when he said he would make her unable to get out of bed.
As she made that internal remark, the bathroom door opened, and Alpha Kilian came out with a towel around his waist. His bare chest and well-defined abs added to his already enticing appearance.
He was the type of man who appeared slender when dressed but muscular when undressed. His arm lines suggested he exercised regularly despite spending long hours in the office.
Nelly knitted her brows, puzzled by his energy. She wondered how men and women could be so different. How could he be so energetic while she struggled to even stand?
As if he could hear her thoughts, Alpha Kilian remarked, "From the look on your face, it seems like you have something to say, Nelly."
"Are you alright?" she asked, staring at him. He replied, "Why wouldn't I be?" "Aren't you... tired?" she inquired.
"Why should I be?" he responded.
Confused, Nelly blinked. "What do you think?"
He moved the most, yet he questions if I'm tired? Alpha Kilian walked up to her, his gaze intense. "That was nothing, Nelly. I already controlled myself for your sake."
She stared at him in disbelief. "Are you serious?"
He chuckled. "It's true that I haven't held back after being sexually abstinent for so long, Nelly. But how can I feel exhausted when I'm fully addicted?"
Nelly silently scrutinized him, not saying a word.
He reached out and stroked her hair. "This is just the beginning, Nelly. You have to get used to it."
Confused, she raised her head to look at him.
Alpha Kilian got ready and changed into a dark-colored outfit, looking smart and dignified. He then kissed her forehead and said, "Rest well and wait for me to come back."
With that, he left with a smile, leaving Nelly seething with anger.
She gave up on washing up and was preparing to lie down when her phone rang. It was a text from Spencer, asking to meet up. Nelly frowned, knowing their conversations had always been straightforward.
Regardless of whether it was about the antidote or something else, she had to get up at that point. She replied to Spencer, agreeing to meet him downstairs in half an hour.
After sending the text, she took a deep breath and endured the pain before heading to the bathroom briefly to freshen up.
Half an hour later, Nelly stood in front of the mirror, wearing a long dress. She felt much better after freshening up, even though she didn't have Alpha Kilian's energy. She took another deep breath before leaving the room.
Outside, she found Spencer pacing back and forth. She looked around but didn't see anyone else.
Clearing her throat, she asked, "What's the matter? What do you have to say?"
Spencer turned to her and quickly looked her over. "I'm just out here for some fresh air."
Nelly scanned the area before questioning with a raised eyebrow, "Where's Thalia?"
He replied, "She should be resting in the room."
"Whatever you have to tell me, does it have something to do with her?" she asked.
Without saying a word, Spencer grabbed a small bottle from behind him. Nelly immediately understood when she saw it.
"It was you who gave this to her, right?" Spencer inquired.
