Explain? What needs explanation? Did he see my message in the group chat? That thought made Mike quickly check his phone. Once he confirmed that Alpha Kilian was not in the group, he let out a sigh of relief. Phew. Thank goodness. But aside from this, what else do I need to explain? I haven't done anything recently.
While pondering on that, he prepared to get in the car. Just as he was about to leave, Alexia hurried out of the ward. Spotting him, she called out, "Mike, wait for me!"
He turned around and frowned at her. "Why did you come out? Are your injuries healed?"
"Almost," she replied, walking over and opening the car door to get in.
Seeing this, Mike also got into the car. "Where are you going?"
Alexia turned to look at him, speaking quietly. "I'll go wherever you go."
"Will you still follow me if I say I'm going home?" he asked.
"If that's where you're going, I'll follow you home," Alexia answered. Mike was left speechless.
"If not, let's stop talking nonsense," she said, fastening her seatbelt.
Staring at her, Mike seemed to have a hunch. "Did Dave tell you to stay here and recover before going back?"
"My wounds have healed," Alexia insisted.
"Do you think I'm clueless about your health condition?" he waved his hand at her. "Get out of the car."
But she showed no sign of complying. "You know very well that even if you don't take me with you, I'll still go back on my own!"
Mike furrowed his brows. "Why are you being so stubborn, young lady?" he called her young, knowing she didn't like it, but he had never seen her react like this before. She averted her gaze. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that, but I'm not going to give up on you."
Before getting into the vehicle, she added, "But if that's really what you want, then I'll wait for you."
He stared at her. "Alexia, why are you acting so foolishly? I'm just curious, what's so good about Alpha Kilian? He's good-looking, rich, but what else does he have?"
"What more reason do I need? Are the points you raised not enough?" There was indeed something wrong with his statement. She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Even if he's not there, I still believe in him. I believe he will come back. So, I will wait for him."
Mike was left speechless. He could see the determination in her eyes, but he also knew that her feelings for Alpha Kilian were genuine. He sighed before finally starting the car.
...
Dave stared at the screen while the technician sat in front of it, quickly responding to his orders. Dave's eyes never left the screen. "He thinks he can invade my territory without consequences, huh? Today, I want you to pinpoint his location," he commanded the technician.
The technician's fingers flew across the keyboard as he protested, "Dave, if the team leader is here, we might be able to do that. But now... This hacker is sly and hard to track down!"
"Are you telling me the results before you even start tracking him down?" Dave retorted, causing the technician to fall silent.
Just then, Alpha Kilian spoke up. "It's fine. Just do your best."
The technician nodded and began instructing his team to retaliate.
Behind them, Dave, Alpha Kilian, and Nelly stood in a row, silently watching the large screen. Nelly refrained from getting involved immediately as she wanted to uncover the identity of the aggressive hacker who had caught their organization's attention.
As she watched the chase unfold on the screen, Nelly furrowed her brow. This seems familiar. She turned to Dave and asked, "When did this start?"
"Yesterday," Dave replied. Nelly pursed her lips and fell into deep thought.
"What's wrong?" Alpha Kilian asked, turning to look at her.
Nelly raised her head and answered honestly, "The hacker looks familiar to me."
"Familiar?" Alpha Kilian furrowed his brow.
Without saying a word, Nelly studied the screen, searching for a clue or flaw.
Then, she noticed something and suggested, "Why don't we set a trap for him here and see if he falls for it?"
Surprised by her idea, the technician turned to face her. "But if we do that, we might expose ourselves."
"Nelly muttered, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."
"But..." The technician hesitated.
Having observed their interaction, Dave's expression darkened as he ordered, "Just do as she says."
After hesitating for a moment longer, the technician followed Dave's order.
Nelly's gaze remained fixed on the screen as she thought, "Let's see if it's you." Both Dave and Alpha Kilian regarded her with thoughtful looks, but they remained silent.
Following Nelly's suggestion, the technician set up the trap. Suddenly, the hacker stopped in his tracks, seeming hesitant to proceed.
The technician was surprised as it was the first time the hacker had ceased their attacks. "W-What is he doing?"
"He's hesitating," Nelly replied.
Then, unexpectedly, the hacker fell into the trap that Nelly had devised.
The technician was stunned. "Does he know about the trap? What is he doing? Is he willingly walking into our trap?"
Nelly didn't respond, her eyes fixed on the screen.
"Everyone, get ready. We must capture him today!" someone yelled. The rest of the team continued typing furiously, prepared to catch their prey.
Suddenly, a black chat box appeared on the screen with a message: Is that you?
The technician furrowed his brow upon reading the message. "What is this? Who is he talking about?"
Dave and Alpha Kilian turned to look at Nelly.
Nelly smirked and took her seat at the computer. Dave gave the technician a meaningful look, and he quickly stepped aside for Nelly.
Nelly settled in and glanced at the technician. "Thank you." The technician nodded and said nothing more.
Nelly typed a reply swiftly: Yes, it's me.
The hacker wasted no time and asked: Do you work for DX Group?
Before Nelly could respond, the hacker continued: No, you don't. Otherwise, you wouldn't have waited until now to reveal yourself.
Nelly composed her reply in Ustranian: Who I work for doesn't matter. What matters is your goal.
Hacker: Isn't my goal clear enough?
Nelly shot back: If it was clear enough, why would I bother asking?
Hacker: Someone has entrusted me to do this.
Nelly: Boss?
The hacker was taken aback, but he didn't deny it.
Upon seeing his response, Nelly sneered and typed: Tell him to give up. No matter what his goal is, he won't succeed.
Hacker: Really?
Nelly posed the question back to him: Isn't it obvious enough?
