"You can consider that as an option," said, "Alright, understood. What do you want first? If we want a powerful team, we need manpower. The most capable person in there is just above average, while the ones I want are the best of the best, more challenging to find. Nevertheless, I stand by my decision! Our team may be small, but its members must be strong. At that time, he was deep in conversation when Donna approached. "Hey, what are you two discussing? Donna, it's best if you don't get involved in this industry. Even though I may not be a part of it, I still need you, Donna!"
Thalia sat on the bed, her chin propped up with both hands. She gazed at the medication on the bedside table, struggling with indecision. Should I take it or not? Should I use it or not?
She reached out to grab the medication, but quickly pulled her hand back and slapped herself. What on earth are you thinking, Thalia? Have you lost your mind over a man?
Although there was a voice in her head warning her that it was a bad idea, there was also a small voice shouting, "Since you like him and he likes you, why not? He won't make the first move, so you have to take the initiative. Maybe if you take this step, he won't be so shy anymore!"
Clearly, she was more persuaded by the latter argument. A smile appeared on her face.
Just as she was about to grab the medication on the table, the door suddenly opened. Thalia quickly concealed the medication behind her back.
Spencer walked in and looked at her, furrowing his brows. "What's wrong?" The woman shook her head immediately. "Nothing."
His cold eyes briefly scanned her and he didn't dwell on it. Instead, he approached her and handed her a bowl. "Eat this."
According to Thalia, what she was eating was not just something to replenish her blood, but also a display of Spencer's care.
Just as she was about to reach out and take it, she suddenly remembered something and looked at him. "My hand hurts..."
"Your hand hurts? Why?" Spencer inquired.
"I accidentally injured it today," she responded.
His dark eyes examined her as he reached for her hand. "Let me see." After a moment's hesitation, Thalia extended her hand.
"Where's the injury?"
"Right here." The woman casually pointed to a spot.
When Spencer rubbed the indicated spot, Thalia winced in pain and complained, "Ouch!"
"You're the first person to treat me so kindly. No one has ever been this gentle and caring towards me," she said with astonishment in her eyes.
"How could that be possible? What about your..." he started to ask with a complicated expression.
"My mother passed away early, and when she was alive, she wasn't able to take care of me. As for my father," she closed her eyes, "I'd rather not talk about it. It was a dreadful experience, not something pleasant to think about. I doubt I'll ever be able to forgive him."
Thalia had never mentioned this before. In that moment of hesitation, Spencer looked at her with a complex expression.
Thalia picked up two wine glasses and a bottle of red wine with her delicate hands before approaching him barefoot. Under the light, she emitted an indescribable allure.
In the past, Spencer had always kept his distance from her instead of admiring her as he was doing now. My girl has grown up without me even noticing it.
The softened look in his eyes remained as she sat in front of him and poured the wine into the glasses. "I remember you didn't used to enjoy bitter flavors like this."
"Yeah!" Thalia nodded. "I don't know when I started liking it, but I think it happened recently. When I get bored, I'll have a little drink while chatting with Ms. Jackson. After a while, I guess I got used to it." She looked at him mysteriously. "You know, there's a lot of precious, high-quality wine hidden in this place. Since I'm already in the enemy's camp, I might as well drink all their best stuff so they won't have any left!"
Spencer couldn't help but smile at that. After twirling the wine glass for a moment, he took a sip.
In that moment, he seemed like a gentleman from high society. His Adam's apple bobbing made him incredibly attractive.
Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if he's the long-lost prince of a noble family. He doesn't look like a doctor at all.
Thalia gently closed her eyes and finished her glass.
Spencer frowned. "You shouldn't drink too much if you're not used to it. You'll get drunk."
"Just because I don't drink often doesn't mean I can't handle it." Thalia poured herself another glass. "Since you're here to drink with me, it's only fair that I drink to my heart's content."
Seeing how happy she was, Spencer smiled. "If you want to drink, I can drink with you anytime." "Really?"
Spencer nodded.
"In that case, I should drink more." She beamed as she downed another glass of wine.
He didn't stop her because she looked so joyful. If she ends up getting drunk, at least I'll be here to take care of her.
