Chapter 513: You’ll Always Be My Grandpa
Right then, Lucas felt completely drained. The strength he once had in his heart was gone.
He thought, maybe it was finally time to let Dave decide things for himself.
Even though Lucas had spent his whole life planning every step carefully, he still ended up alone—pushed away by his wife and children. Now, Skylar had almost made him make another huge mistake.
He always wanted everything to go the way he planned. But in the end, things went the exact opposite.
Lucas looked at Dave, who sat quietly nearby, and let out a tired sigh.
“Do you still see me as your grandpa, Dave?”
Dave answered in a gentle voice, “Of course. You’ll always be my grandpa.”
Lucas’s face softened, and he smiled with relief.
“As for everything that happened… it was my fault,” Lucas said. “I’m sorry. If you’re willing to come back to the Evans Group, I won’t blame you for anything. And about you and Bianca…”
The room went completely silent.
Lucas looked at Dave and Bianca and said seriously, “About your relationship, I’ll let you both decide what to do next.”
After that, he looked like a heavy burden had been lifted from him.
Bianca and Dave glanced at each other in surprise.
They had waited so long for this moment.
Now that it was real, it felt like a dream.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Lucas asked with a frown. “I’m not messing with you. I mean it this time.”
Still, deep down, he knew he wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t trust him anymore.
“I’m getting old,” he said softly. “What I want now is a great-grandchild. Can you make that happen for me?”
Bianca blushed, clearly embarrassed.
But the message was clear; Lucas now supported their relationship. He hoped they’d get married and start a family soon.
But soon, both Bianca and Dave looked troubled.
The reason was simple, Dave still hadn’t told Lucas about the written agreement he had with Skylar.
In that agreement, Dave had promised he would never marry Bianca even if he didn’t marry Skylar.
Skylar had once saved his life, and because of that, he couldn’t bring himself to break the promise.
This left him in a tough situation.
That’s why he had come up with a compromise, to stay with Bianca without getting married. Bianca agreed to it without any complaint.
But they both knew Lucas would never accept such an idea.
To him, marriage was sacred.
And if the public ever found out, it would surely turn into a scandal for the whole family.
Lucas had finally started to see Bianca in a better light, and it wasn’t easy to make that happen.
So after thinking about it, Dave decided not to tell him about the deal with Skylar, at least not yet.
After a few more words, he told his grandpa to rest well, then left the room with Bianca.
They got into the car and drove away.
Most of the ride was silent.
Both of them were lost in their own thoughts.
After a long silence, Dave finally spoke. “I’ll handle it. I’ll make sure Grandpa accepts our relationship the way we want.”
To Dave, marriage was just a formality.
He believed that if two people loved each other, they shouldn't be forced apart just because they couldn't get married.
"Okay. I trust you," Bianca said softly and leaned on his shoulder.
She didn’t mind if they never got married.
From the start, she had always loved him.
And she would still love him, even if he wasn’t part of the Evans family.
He was the only man she had ever really loved.
Up front, Wyatt had overheard their conversation.
His hands tightened around the steering wheel.
His eyes turned cold as he stared at the road ahead.
Meanwhile, in a luxury hotel suite, Skylar had changed out of her wedding gown and slipped into something casual.
The gown had cost a fortune.
Lucas didn’t say she couldn’t keep it, so she took it as hers.
It was covered with real diamonds and jade.
The dress was worth over 100 million.
If she sold it now, she could probably get 80 million for it, more than enough to live in comfort.
But a wave of sadness and anger crashed into her chest like a heavy hammer.
It left her breathless.
She couldn’t accept how things had turned out.
She couldn’t believe that all her hard work had led to nothing.
She refused to lose to Bianca.
From the moment Lucas sent her abroad, her only dream had been to marry Dave.
She wanted people to envy her and admire her.
That was her one goal in life.
Without it, she felt like her life would fall apart.
So the way things were now—it was something she just couldn’t accept.
She clenched her fists and muttered under her breath, “Bianca, I’ll take back everything that’s mine. I swear, I will.”
Skylar’s strongest trait was her persistence.
She always knew what she wanted.
And she never gave up until she got it.
If she couldn’t get it, she would try to ruin it.
But she knew she couldn’t do it on her own.
Right now, only the fast-growing Lawson Group has the power to go up against the Evans Group someday.
Even though Lawson Group wasn’t strong enough yet, it already had influence across the country.
It was showing signs of becoming a top player in product development and sales.
In time, Lawson Group could become a leader in the industry.
Skylar seemed sharp.
She planned to use the Lawson Group to go against the Evans Group and against Dave.
Lawson Group needed a strong rival to grow, and the Evans Group was the perfect target.
Skylar had also picked up a lot of inside information from her time around Lucas.
She was sure the leaders of Lawson Group wouldn’t let this chance slip by.
It was the perfect moment to go after the Evans Group.
With that thought, she smiled. Her confidence returned. She walked out the door with her head held high.
Skylar arrived at the Lawson Group building in high heels.
The receptionist recognized her right away.
She knew Skylar as Dave’s fiancée from the news and didn’t dare ignore her.
“Miss, who are you here to see?” the receptionist asked.
“I’m here to see your chairman,” Skylar replied.
