Chapter 495: Wait For Me To Come Back
Bianca was shocked after hearing his words. Her eyes widened as she looked at Blake.
"What did you just say?"
Blake remained composed. "I wanted to tell you before, but you were caught up with Reese’s scandal."
Bianca tried to stay calm, but worry crept in.
"Blake, are you serious?"
"Of course."
"Why?"
"Because I’m going abroad," Blake said in a flat tone.
"Going abroad?" Bianca looked even more confused.
"For treatment," Blake explained. "There’s a new method overseas that could help my leg heal faster, so..."
After hearing him out, Bianca felt a sense of relief.
She let out a breath. "I see. That’s good to hear. How long will you be away?"
"At least three months. Maybe six," Blake replied.
Bianca gave a small nod, looking more at ease. "Then there’s no reason to end the contract. It’s a long-term deal anyway. I can give you half a year off."
Blake said nothing. He kept his eyes low.
Worried, Bianca asked softly, "What’s wrong?"
"Bianca," Blake said as he looked up and his face turned serious. "I’ve decided to leave the entertainment world. Let’s end the contract."
Bianca looked at him, stunned. "Why? You’ve worked so hard to get here. So many companies want to work with you. Even if you’re taking a break, the treatment will help, right? You still have a future as a singer. Don’t you want that anymore?"
Blake smiled. "No. I never joined to be a star. I did it for you. I just wanted to stay beside you to protect you, and be with you."
Bianca understood what he meant, but she never thought he’d give it all up just for that.
"So this is because of my relationship with Dave, isn’t it?"
Bianca’s face fell with disappointment.
She had done everything she could to give Blake the best chances. All because he once said the word "trust."
He had worked hard. Success didn’t come easy. But now, just when things were finally going well and the company was moving forward, he suddenly chose to quit.
Bianca couldn’t understand why.
Seeing the look in her eyes, Blake slowly raised his head. He looked at her with tender warmth.
"Bianc, all I can say is that my reason hasn’t changed. This isn’t about anyone else."
She stared at him for a long moment, then spoke slowly. "Do you realize the mess you’ll leave me if you suddenly end the contract?"
"I know." Blake’s voice was calm as he pulled out a bank card and held it out to her. "Here’s the compensation."
When Bianca saw the card, she knew he had already made up his mind.
The contract said he could end things if he paid the penalty. She had no right to stop him.
She pushed the card back toward him.
"Blake, since you’ve decided to leave, let’s end things here. I don’t need your money. From now on, we owe each other nothing."
Blake gripped the card tightly and looked into her eyes.
He gave a cold smile. "I risked my life twice for you. And now, it feels like that’s all it was worth."
His words hit Bianca hard.
She took a deep breath and gently uttered. "Of course not. What you’ve done for me means more than words can say. I’ll always remember it. But tell me, what else can I do for you?"
Blake looked down at the black card in his hand. His face turned serious.
"I want you to promise me one thing."
"What is it?"
He slowly looked up. Under the moonlight, there was a soft hope in his eyes.
"Wait for me to come back."
Bianca frowned, confused by what Blake meant.
He gave a small, nervous smile. There was something heavy in his eyes.
"Bianc, our moms arranged our engagement when we were kids," he said. "I get it if it doesn’t matter to you. But it was my mom’s last wish. I have to respect that. If you still feel the same when I come back, I’ll ask your mom to call it off. But until then, I hope you can accept being my fiancée—even just in name."
Bianca finally understood.
She looked at him, speechless. "So... I can’t date anyone else while you’re gone?"
Blake gave a slow, unsure nod.
"Don’t you think that’s a bit much?" Bianca asked, her voice full of disbelief.
"This is my last request," Blake said softly, but there was pressure in his tone. "Think of it as paying me back for saving your life twice."
Bianca understood what he meant. Dave always said saving a life came with a price. And this? This seemed like a small favor.
If she said no, it would feel like she didn’t appreciate it. But the timing couldn’t be worse. She had just reconciled with Dave. If she agreed, things would get messy fast. A quiet pain settled in her chest.
Noticing her pause, Blake added, "Say yes, and we’re even. I know you want to end this cleanly. Here’s your chance."
Bianca’s eyes shook a little.
No matter what, he had saved her life twice. Even if he asked for everything, she’d feel she owed him.
She let out a deep breath. "Alright. I promise."
Blake's face softened with a hint of relief. He gently placed the card back in her hand.
"Take it. There’ll be contracts to wrap up once I’m gone. This should help cover things."
Bianca didn’t argue.
Emerald Artists Agency was growing, but cash flow was still tight. Many deals hadn’t been fully paid yet. The money would help.
"When are you leaving?" she asked.
"Tomorrow morning."
His answer caught her off guard.
"That’s fast," she said, a bit hurt. "So you already planned this. Ticket and everything. Feels like you just came to tell me, not ask me. You knew I’d say yes, didn’t you?"
Blake stayed quiet. "I’m really sorry."
"No need to say sorry," she said with a faint smile. "Maybe save that apology for yourself."
Blake wanted to explain. But his past was a secret. Anything else would just be a lie.
Still, he held on to a small hope.
Things would change when he came back.
By then, he wouldn’t be the same person. He would return stronger—and win her heart. He believed that.
But for now, he needed to wait.
"That’s all I wanted to say, Bianca. Don’t forget your promise."
Then, Blake turned his wheelchair and slowly rolled away.
Before, Bianca would’ve rushed to go with him.
But now, as she watched him leave, something felt different.
He seemed far away—like a stranger.
So she stayed where she was, quietly watching him fade from sight.
The silence broke with the sound of her phone ringing. It made her jump. She picked it up.
It was Diana.
