Unwanted Mate

Chapter 123

Ch. 123 / 165 Jun 23, 2025

Celeste could feel Jeremy's intense gaze fixated on her, sending shivers down her spine. In response, she grasped Jeremy's hand, her fingers tightening around his.

Byron's words held undeniable truth. It was clear that Byron himself had lost the qualification of being an Alpha, and the wolf pack held a genuine fondness for Jeremy. They yearned for a leader, an Alpha to guide them through the challenges they faced. Undoubtedly, Jeremy was the perfect fit for the role.

Yet, Celeste understood the hesitations that plagued Jeremy's mind. He was still young, thrust into a position of authority without a chance to prove himself. She empathized with his concerns and knew that deep within, he harbored a mixture of disdain and disgust towards Byron's calculated maneuvers that had propelled him into this unexpected position.

But regardless of the circumstances, no matter how Jeremy came to power, Celeste firmly believed in his innate leadership qualities. She would support him unconditionally, no matter the decisions he made.

Jeremy's gaze shifted back to Byron and nodded. Celeste's heart fluttered.

"Right now, with my parents taken away by the hunters, our top priority is locating them and bringing them back," Jeremy said, his eyes filled with determination. "I know our wolf pack's defenses are alarmingly weak. A mere rogue can trespass effortlessly, casting sleep spells on us at will. If the rogue could do it, so could the hunters. Although I have faith that our wolf pack can withstand the hunters with adequate training, we can't ignore the unsettling possibility of rogues causing trouble behind our backs. Celeste is right. If we can, seeking an alliance would be fantastic."

Celeste locked eyes with Jeremy and a smile stretched across her face. She was happy to see Jeremy's willingness to set aside his prejudices and endure his intense dislike for Kent for the well-being of their wolf pack.

"Hey, who knows?" she playfully remarked, her voice tinged with mischief. "Perhaps after spending some time with Kent, you might even end up liking him!"

"I have doubts about that," Jeremy rolled his eyes, his grip around Celeste tightening protectively. She found solace in his embrace, nestled against his chest. Jeremy let out a grunt.

Byron let out a cough, interrupting the moment as both of them were momentarily lost in their own world.

"So what's the next move?" Celeste asked. Now that Byron knew about their relationship, Celeste couldn't help but feel a tad self-conscious under his gaze. That being said, she still remained nestled in Jeremy's arms, basking in the warmth and comfort that made her utterly captivated.

"Well, I reckon it's about time the rest of the wolf pack gets to know their new Alpha and Luna," Byron suggested, his tone carrying a sense of excitement. "We need them to see you both in a fresh light before we dive into our next plans."

Celeste turned to face Jeremy, her heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and apprehension. She took a deep breath, trying to shake off her lingering doubts. Being thrust into a new identity in front of the pack, whom she considered her extended family, felt unnerving. But what she discovered was that being able to openly embrace Jeremy, to revel in their connection, brought her immense joy. The comfort and magnetic pull they shared had completely overshadowed any uncertainty or fear she had about the unknown.

Jeremy, perceptive as ever, noticed Celeste's internal struggle. He leaned in and gently asked, "You okay with that, Cel?" His patience and understanding melted her heart, for she knew he had never pushed her beyond her comfort zone.

Celeste nodded, a mixture of relief and excitement flooding her senses. And at that moment, she witnessed a radiant smile spread across Jeremy's face.

And so it happened, amidst the wolf pack, they made their announcement, revealing that they weren't twins, but fated mates. At first, the pack couldn't wrap their heads around it and thought they were playing some prank. But once they heard the heartfelt explanation, their skepticism turned into genuine blessings.

After all, fated mates were those rare celestial matches, handpicked by the stars, destined to be together. It was a once-in-a-lifetime connection, and the pack showered them with good wishes.

The wolf pack couldn't contain their excitement about Jeremy stepping up as their new Alpha. The idea had been brewing in their minds for some time now, slowly taking root and blossoming like a wildflower. Besides, having Jeremy as their Alpha meant the possibility of a new Luna for their pack. With a Luna, the pack would be strong. And they would be able to protect their loved ones and get back those who were taken away. The whole pack was bursting with joy and anticipation.

Amidst lively discussions within the wolf pack, they realized that even though they had enjoyed two decades of peaceful living, deep down, they were ready to fight any dangers that threatened their beloved homeland.

Of course, they had grown accustomed to their peaceful ways, so combat was a bit foreign to them. But that didn't dampen their spirits. Instead, the pack embraced the challenge, eagerly starting their new training regime. They would hone their skills, sharpen their senses, and prepare themselves for the battles that lay ahead.

Jeremy and Celeste, driven by determination, made the swift decision on a journey to Kent's pack for a face-to-face negotiation. The rogues had spent too much time in one place for far too long, and Celeste feared that Kent might leave if they didn't act swiftly. Once everything was in order within the wolf pack, they wasted no time, setting off like a whirlwind.

But amidst the group ready to depart, Celeste was taken aback by the unexpected presence of Nancy. Who would have thought that Nancy would go with them?
