Faith slowly regained consciousness, the first thing her brain registered was the strong nauseating smell of antiseptics.

Her eyes fluttered open and she slowly looked around.

Confusion kicked in as she realized she seemed to be in a hospital.

She tried to suddenly sit up and had to wince at the prickling pain, an IV needle was connected to her hand.

How the hell did she end up here? She thought. It took only three seconds for the memories to come rushing.

She stiffened on the bed, the coldness spreading across her skin, penetrating through her bones. She had found it weird that in all the banks she approached, none had agreed to grant her the loan, she had also failed to acquire a new job, but why would all these be related to Sterling?

Faith bit her lips sharply, she desperately wanted to trust Sterling, he'd been the only person to arrange her crumbling life, always had been there when she needed him. She stared at the wedding band around her finger, Sterling had meant to give meaning to their marriage, how could he be accused of those terrible things?

And the evidence ___

She didn't know what to believe! Her heart might still trust Sterling but her eyes had also seen the proof.

She couldn't just ignore all of that.

Ignoring the shot of pain that sizzled through her head, Faith managed to support herself to a sitting position when the door suddenly pushed open, few moments later, the doctor walked inside.

"You fainted, your brother brought you here, how are you feeling, Faith?"

Faith stared at Dr. Lana who was in her late thirties, they were both familiar with each other, Dr. Lana had been a huge help during the early stages of her mother's sickness.

"Fine__ I guess." Faith mumbled quietly.

She was far from fine! The trust and confidence she had was collapsing within her, how could she be alright?

She had the ghostly feeling that nothing would go well for a very long time.

"I ran some tests when you were unconscious, it appeared you suffered some shock which led to your unconsciousness, I also discovered you are about seven weeks pregnant which is__"

"W_what?!" Faith stuttered, the blood drained out of her face as her body went rigid in shock.

"What did you say?" She held the doctor's gaze, the room was so silent that she could hear the sound of her own heartbeat.

"I said you are pregnant and about___" Dr. Lana started when Faith jumped from the bed, uncaring of the pain the needle connected to her hand brought.

"What are you doing? You need to be careful!" Dr. Lana cried, safely disconnecting the needle from Faith's hand.

"I cannot be pregnant! It's not possible!" All Faith could feel was panic, she refused to believe that this was happening. Under some other circumstances, she might have been excited, but all she could feel now was alarm.

"I still have the drugs you gave me! I never missed them, why would I end up p_pregnant?" She stammered the forbidden word, once again her head was starting to spin with a headache, but she was too anxious, she had to know!

"Why don't you resume your seat? And please calm down! Take a deep breath or you might end up fainting again!"

Faith didn't think she could calm down, but she resumed her seat on the very edge of the bed.

"Remember I told you that pills are not completely safe? And it appears you haven't been taken them, there's no trace of the substance in your blood, rather I found evidence that you've been taking Clomid, a type of fertility drug in your bloodstream."

Faith's jaw dropped to the floor, she could only stare at the doctor dumbfounded, She had no idea what Dr. Lana was talking about.

"There must be a mistake! The pills you gave me are in my purse, I've never taken anything else!" Faith cried.

"Do you have it with you right now?"

"My purse__Julian, does he have it? W_where is he?"

Faith's words came out jumbled.

What fertility pills!

Dr. Lana must have made a mistake while reading the blood samples!

Some minutes later, she found Julian and her purse, the last time she had taken the pills, she had dumped the remnants in her handbag, she was thankful now that she didn't have to return home to retrieve them.

It surely felt like days as she awaited the doctor's return. She was tired of pacing but she couldn't sit or lie down either.

Her eyes remained glued to the wall clock, her shoulders slumped when the door suddenly pushed open, she didn't know if it was from relief or fear.

She held Dr. Lana's stare, awaiting the final verdict that would leave her mouth.

"Although these drugs appear similar to the ones I gave you but they are absolutely not the same! They work differently, which is why you are pregnant!"

Faith's heart sank to her stomach as the bomb was dropped on her yet again.

"How can you say there are not the same? These are the pills you gave me, how could it change?" Faith could barely recognize the faint panic-streaked voice to be hers.

The doctor stared at her sympathetically.

"You are saying that you did not change them, this means that someone else must have done so!"

Someone else__

Someone else___

Her brain could only think of him! There was no one else in the house but the two of them!

Why would Sterling change the pills to get her pregnant?!

Faith clenched her arms around her stomach, her body starting to tremble.

She could remember he hadn't cared about using protection, he had also given her the cold attitude when she had mentioned it.

Why would he do this to her?!

He'd done it so flawlessly, that she never would have been able to find out by herself.

What else had he done without her knowledge?!

All of those despicable things Emilia had said? Perhaps even more?

Her eyes stung with tears but it was her heart that felt betrayed.

They had all warned her! Her prince charming wasn't a good person!

But she had refused to listen!

She thought she could listen to her heart and judge with what she saw with her eyes, who knew that she would only think and see whatever he wanted her to?

A painful cry escaped her mouth as she palmed her face, shattered sobs continued to rip through her.

Why did he decide to treat her this way? She couldn't think of anything she had done wrong. His lies.

Manipulations.

She had been a fly caught in his web.

She despised herself for being such a fool and falling for everything, but what she hated the most was that she had allowed herself to fall in love with him.
