Serena quickly lowered her head and pressed down on Vega's head as well.
"Hey, Serena, what are you doing?!" Vega, confused, tilted her head and looked at her.
"Shh!" Serena put her right index finger to her lips, "Xavier turned around, I wonder if he saw us..."
"Did he? I didn't see him turn around!" Vega blinked, "Let go, my hair's already thin. If you keep pulling on it, I'm going bald."
Serena only then realized that her hand was still firmly pressing on Vega's head.
She quickly loosened her grip and apologized, "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention in the heat of the moment."
Vega touched her hair, "It's fine, I won't actually get mad at you." Then, she quietly lifted her head, "I'll go check what they're up to now!"
"Don't! What if he sees us?!" Serena was still anxious.
"So what if he sees us? This restaurant's open for business, there's no rule against us being here! We're just here to have a meal, what's the problem?"
"But..." Serena still hesitated, "Our sneaky behavior doesn't look like we're just here for a meal. If he sees us, there's no way to explain it."
Vega was unwilling to let it go, "Back in high school, I was part of Xavier's fan group. Thanks to you, I often got to see him. Ever since you got married, he hardly ever appears. It's been years since I last saw him. Now that I finally see that handsome face again, let me appreciate it a little longer!"
Serena still wanted to stop her, but Vega refused to listen and insisted on sticking her head out.
Helpless, Serena shrank her body further down, hoping Xavier wouldn't notice.
"Huh?!" Vega scratched her head in confusion.
"What's wrong?!" Serena whispered without daring to look up.
"Where did they go? They were here just now! Are they gone now?"
"No one's there?!" Serena quickly straightened up and looked back.
Sure enough, the booth where Xavier had been sitting was now empty, and both he and the glamorous woman had disappeared.
"Strange?! From what I saw just now, it didn't look like he was about to leave! And he was having such a good time drinking with that woman!" Serena frowned, irritation evident on her face.
At that moment, a waiter came over with two brightly colored cocktails, "Ladies, your drinks are ready. Enjoy."
Serena looked at Vega with a questioning look.
"I didn't order this!" Vega was puzzled too, "I thought it was you who ordered it!"
Serena quickly waved her hand at the waiter, "It seems there's been a mistake. These aren't the drinks we ordered!"
The waiter bent down and checked the number on the table, "No, it's correct, Table 10, it's for you two!"
"But... we really didn't order these..."
"A gentleman ordered them for you at Table 10. It can't be wrong."
"A gentleman?!" The two exchanged a puzzled look, completely clueless.
Just then, a familiar voice rang out, playful and lazy, with a tone that made one want to listen more, "I ordered them. Beautiful women deserve beautiful drinks. These two cocktails are new here, colorful, and their name sounds nice too, 'colorlife'. Perfect for you."
They looked up and saw Xavier, smirking as he watched them.
Vega's eyes widened, and she couldn't help but lose her composure, "Wow, so handsome! You're even more handsome than in high school!"
Serena quickly nudged her with her elbow, signaling her to tone it down.
She, however, sarcastically said, "Oh, Mr. Blaze, what brings you over here? Didn't you just have a good time drinking with a beautiful lady?"
"Beautiful lady?!" Xavier turned around and looked around, "Where? Other than you two, I don't see any other beauties here!"
"Stop being cheeky!" Serena crossed her arms, adopting an accusatory tone, "We saw everything, you were drinking and chatting with a woman over there, having a great time. What, now you don't dare admit it?!"
Xavier looked at her with interest for a while before suddenly bending down, his handsome face coming so close to hers that their faces were less than ten centimeters apart.
Serena's face immediately turned red, and she turned away nervously, "You... what are you doing?!"
"Serena, are you jealous?" Xavier's smile spread, his tone confident.
"Jealous?!" Serena seemed to hear the most absurd thing, saying in disbelief, "Please, what would I be jealous of? Who you spend time with is your business, what does it have to do with me?!"
"If it has nothing to do with you, why are you so mad, looking like you caught me cheating?"
"I... I wasn't..." Her voice faltered as she turned her face away, refusing to meet his eyes again.
Vega, watching the tension unfold between them, couldn't hold back any longer. "Xavier, do you like Serena again?"
Xavier straightened, visibly aggrieved. "What do you mean again? When have I ever not liked her?"
"My gosh!" Vega gasped, covering her mouth. "I thought deeply devoted young masters only existed in romance novels. I never imagined I'd meet one in real life."
Xavier let out a helpless sigh. "No matter how devoted I am, it's useless. The man's heart is sincere... but the woman feels nothing. In the end, all my feelings can do is scatter with the wind."
Vega quickly nudged Serena's side, "Serena..."
Serena irritably adjusted her hair, "Alright, stop joking around, speak properly. Who was the woman you were with earlier? Who is she?"
"She?!" Xavier snorted, "One of my potential fiancées."
"Fiancée?!" Vega gasped, "Didn't you just say you liked Serena?!"
Serena didn't speak, only pursing her lips, staring at Xavier.
He returned her gaze, his expression open and unafraid.
After a moment, she suddenly turned her eyes away, grabbed her handbag, and stood up, "Vega, I just remembered, I have something to do. I can't stay for dinner today. Let's meet another time."
With that, she left without greeting Xavier.
Her steps were quick, and soon she arrived at a mini cooper parked outside the restaurant.
As she reached for the car door handle and was about to pull it open, "Bang!" A force suddenly pressed the car door shut again from behind.
