The Art of Revenge

Materialistic Woman

Ch. 44 / 166 Dec 24, 2025

The young doctor didn't dare to act further, allowing Xavier to personally carry the two large bags into the exclusive clinic.

If one had to describe this place, it wasn't so much a clinic as it was a luxurious private club.

The lobby was opulently decorated in European style, with a large crystal chandelier hanging high in the air. The waiting area alone spanned nearly a hundred square meters.

Under the personal guidance of Dr. Wale, Xavier walked into an ultra-luxurious hospital room that was over 200 square meters, fully equipped with various functional zones.

"Mr. Blaze, please come this way!" Dr. Wale kindly opened the door to the room and stepped aside, inviting Xavier to enter first.

The man walked in with a blank expression.

Upon entering, he carefully placed the two bags he was holding onto the low cabinet beside the bed.

Dr. Wale and the medical staff stood behind him, bowing respectfully. "Mr. Blaze, please rest here for the next few days. Mr. Henry Blaze has already instructed us, saying that your lungs are not feeling well. We have already prepared the most advanced treatment and testing equipment available in the world. You can be completely assured that here, your health will recover as quickly as possible."

"Understood! You can leave now!"

"Yes! Mr. Blaze, please rest. A specialist will be here soon for a full examination!"

"Okay."

Xavier nodded indifferently, and Dr. Wale hurriedly led the medical staff out.

Fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on the door. A male doctor, accompanied by two nurses, entered the room.

Speaking with a foreign accent, he politely said, "Mr. Blaze, I'm your attending physician for this visit. My name is Peter Hale, and Dr. Wale arranged for me to treat you." Before Xavier could respond, he bragged with a smile, "I graduated with a Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School five years ago. Since my undergraduate days, my main focus has been pulmonary medicine..."

"Alright, alright!" Xavier impatiently waved his hand, interrupting him. "Just do the examination, no need to tell me all these useless details!"

Peter's face flushed with embarrassment, quickly saying, "Yes, yes, I'll start the examination right away!"

With that, he gestured for the two nurses to step forward and begin taking Xavier's blood pressure and temperature.

Once the basic procedures were completed, one of the nurses, standing on the left side of the bed, glanced down and saw the two large bags on the cabinet beside the bed.

She enthusiastically asked, "Mr. Blaze, what are these? If you don't need them right now, I can help you put them away in the cupboard!"

Xavier coldly replied, "Just some toiletries I brought. No need to trouble yourself, just leave them here!"

The doctor and two nurses immediately looked at each other, confused.

The younger nurse, not willing to give up, still wanted to make an impression.

After all, opportunities to be associated with the young master of the Blaze family were rare, a once-in-a-lifetime chance that must be seized.

"Mr. Blaze, don't worry, we have all kinds of toiletries here in the clinic. There's no need for you to bring your own."

She then took it upon herself to reach for the two bags, "I see that you've brought some common, inexpensive brands. They're far inferior to the international luxury brands we provide here. Let me throw these away for you!"

"Let go!" A cold, ominous voice suddenly rang out, making the nurse flinch. The items she had just picked up fell with a loud thud back onto the table.

Xavier's eyes narrowed slightly, two dangerous glints shooting from them toward the nurse. "Did I tell you to touch these?!"

The invisible pressure he exuded made the temperature in the room drop.

Everyone in the room shivered simultaneously.

None of them dared to speak, heads lowered in silence.

Under his piercing gaze, the nurse trembled, apologizing, "Sorry, Mr. Blaze. I just thought you wouldn't need these cheap brands, so I..."

"You call these cheap brands?!" Xavier raised an eyebrow lazily, asking in a mocking tone.

His thin lips curled into a faint smile, but it was strangely cold, offering no warmth.

Those who knew him well would understand that when Xavier was at his angriest, he showed it through a smile.

It was a smile that held no emotion, as though a storm was about to erupt.

The nurse, not understanding the gravity of the situation, foolishly said, "These brands are really mediocre. The ones my family uses are much better. These don't befit your esteemed status, Mr. Blaze!"

"Oh?" One hand reached into a bag and pulled out a white plastic bottle.

He glanced at it briefly before shaking it at the nurse. "How much does this bottle of shampoo cost?"

"About... ten bucks or so."

"Ten bucks?! How much is your monthly salary?!"

"I..." The nurse, feeling increasingly overwhelmed by the pressure, stammered, "I... I earn ten thousand a month."

"Oh!" Xavier nodded lightly. "Ten thousand a month, yet you look down on shampoo that costs over ten bucks?"

He stopped speaking and merely curled his lips into a smile, a smile that made the nurse's heart race.

"Mr.... Mr. Blaze..."

"Don't come to the clinic tomorrow."

"Huh?!" The nurse's legs wobbled in shock, almost kneeling as she whimpered, "Mr. Blaze, w... why?!"

"No special reason. You have too high of an opinion of yourself. With your ten thousand monthly salary, you're too good for the Blaze family clinic. You should look for something more suited to you!"

"No... no, Mr. Blaze..." The nurse pleaded.

"Get out!"

Xavier's cold command rang out, and Peter, along with another nurse, rushed over to help the almost collapsed nurse out of the room.

Her cries gradually faded, and the room fell silent again.

Xavier turned to look at the two bags on the cabinet, his eyes filled with affection. "Serena bought these for me. How dare she say they're bad?!"

He picked up the shampoo bottle she had just taken out, "Ten thousand a month, yet she looks down on something worth only ten bucks. Women nowadays are so materialistic. Not like Serena, who never cares about such superficial things."

Serena was driving on her way home.

While waiting at a red light, she suddenly sneezed twice.

Rubbing her nose, she muttered in confusion, "What's going on? Why am I sneezing all of a sudden? Is someone talking about me?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the car's interior beeped twice.

She picked up her phone, checked it, and immediately broke into a helpless smile.
