The Alpha's Mate Who Cried Wolf

Chapter 46

Ch. 46 / 181 Nov 11, 2025

The struggle reached its apex when I managed to sink my teeth into my father's throat, tearing his head from his body in a final, gruesome act of dominance. In an instant, I experienced a surge of power and transformation, growing larger and more formidable. A resounding howl erupted from deep within me, a proclamation to all that I was the new Alpha. My body bore the battle scars and wounds crisscrossing my form, and my ear had been torn away during the brutal fray. Shifting back into my human form, I stood victorious, albeit battered and bloodied, with my severed ear.

Upon my return to the pack house as the new Alpha, I embarked on an arduous and relentless search for Alyssa, a quest that spanned not mere months but stretched into long and gruelling years. The passage of time brought changes to my life, including the acceptance of Alice, a young woman from our pack who had harbored feelings toward me as my chosen mate. Over the course of our journey together, Alice and I were blessed with three children: our daughter, Vanessa, and twin sons, James and John.

As the Alpha, I ruled relentlessly, my temper flaring frequently. I knew my hunt for Alyssa would never cease until I found her. The years wore on, and my relentless pursuit never waned.

It wasn't until much later that I received news that shattered the mystery surrounding Alyssa's fate. The Justice Pack, it appeared, had met a grim fate, wiped out in its entirety, with only Alyssa, the Luna, managing to escape. She had been with child, carrying the offspring of Alpha Axton. The harrowing experiences of two pack annihilations had taken a toll on her spirit, and she had made a heart-wrenching decision. Alyssa decided to sever her ties with the werewolf communities and live among the humans as one of them.

The pain of losing two packs, the relentless danger that had become her life, and her desire to shield her unborn child from the harsh realities of werewolf existence compelled her to make this choice.

Alyssa moved into the city, eventually meeting a human who fell deeply in love with her. They bought a house together near the woods. She would secretly shift and run through the dense trees without her lover ever finding out.

Her human partner, blissfully unaware of her true identity, loved her unconditionally, and together, they decided that he would be known as the father of her child.

Alyssa knew that she would shift into a wolf once her daughter turned eighteen. She wanted her daughter to have a wolf-free life for as long as possible to protect her from how dangerous and ruthless the werewolf world was.

I embarked on my quest to find them, scouring the area for any signs of the house. My search was guided by the sweet sound of a child's laughter intermingled with Alyssa's gentle voice. 'Come on, Astrid darling, it's your turn to find me!' Alyssa's voice floated through the air.

I honed in on the familiar scent in the vicinity, and impatiently, a thought struck me. I emitted a growl, hoping to startle the child and force her out of the hiding spot to lure her mother out. The girl screamed and ran, and within a moment of chasing her, Alyssa revealed herself. 'It's me you want!' she called out, desperate to save her child.

Without hesitation, I pivoted and sprinted towards her, my jaws clamping down on her neck. I shook her vigorously, as if she were a mere ragdoll, until the light in her eyes dimmed, and she went limp in my grasp. Her lifeless form now lay at my feet, her existence extinguished.

As I stood there, contemplating the fate of Alyssa's daughter, who was perched high in a tree, gunshots suddenly pierced the air. My mission had been accomplished: I had found and eliminated Alyssa, avenging the night she had left me for Alpha Axton.

I intended on killing her daughter but then decided to keep a watchful eye on her instead over the years. I knew her stepfather was subjecting her to maltreatment, which brought me much satisfaction, knowing it would have added to her mother's misery.

I ruled my pack differently from the norm, rejecting the notion of fated mates. Instead, I played matchmaker, strategically pairing individuals to increase our pack's power and influence.

My daughter Vanessa was dispatched to Shadow Crest, masquerading as a vulnerable newcomer to the pack, as a victim of abuse. Her mission was to establish a connection with Ryker, the Alpha. My chosen mate, Alice, was initially reluctant to part ways with Vanessa, so I sent them both to Shadow Crest. I’ve maintained nearly daily contact with them, and Alice would occasionally return to our pack for short stays, all without Shadow Crest's suspicion.

I recognized that you, being from Moonstone Crest and the Justice Pack, bore the potential for exceptional strength due to your rare genes. It was highly likely that you possessed the genetic inheritance of a pure white wolf, a trait deeply revered in our world. Such a match would undoubtedly produce formidable offspring, which led me to orchestrate your union with my son.

Amelia, an Alpha's daughter herself, was relinquished to our pack through a planned exchange, primed to be mated with my son, John. Love, I had learned, was no longer the driving force. It was power that reigned supreme. The events of that fateful night had taught me that love held no guarantees, as even the strongest bond could be severed, making the pursuit of power a far more prudent course of action.

This was the creed I imparted to my pack, teaching them that choosing a mate based on strategic advantage for the pack was a more logical path than relying on the whims of fate.

My sons and daughter eventually agreed to my plan. So, I eliminated John’s chosen mate, a pitifully weak omega! Can you imagine? Omegas, supposedly destined for future Alphas! And, of course, I took care of Vanessa's mate as well. He was little more than a mutt, the weakest wolf I'd ever seen. I made sure to remind her of that fact.

And here you are now, nearing your eighteenth birthday, destined to be marked and mated by my eldest son. Now, how did it go? ...Oh, yes, Welcome to the family, sweetheart.’ I can't help but muse, a grin spreading across my face as I observe Astrid pale.
