The Alpha's Mate Who Cried Wolf

Chapter 59

Ch. 59 / 181 Nov 11, 2025

I breathe a sigh of relief, grateful that I won't have to navigate the tense atmosphere around them any longer. Bolstered by my wolf's strength, I express myself with confidence. 'I don't believe they'll pose a threat to us anymore,' I assert with determination.

Everyone in the room collectively nods in agreement, and Kane directs the conversation toward our plans for the rest of the day. Ryker's response, delivered with a warm smile, ignites my excitement. 'Well, our Luna and I have some pack work in the office that we need to start on,' he reveals.

My eyes light up with enthusiasm as I respond, 'Really?'

Ryker's pride and love shine through his eyes as he confirms, 'You're Luna now. We do everything together.' His words, filled with warmth and affection, deepen our bond and affirm the path we are supposed to pursue together as Alpha and Luna.

I wrap my arms around Ryker's neck, pulling him close, and nuzzle his mark with tenderness. My fingers gently trace the tender area, and I can't help but ask, 'How are you feeling?' My voice carries a mix of concern and curiosity, and my gaze locks onto his mark.

'Frisky,' he whispers playfully into my ear, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. There's a mischievous glint in his eyes as he teases.

'Ryker!' I exclaim, feigning frustration but failing to hide the affectionate smile that tugs at my lips. 'You know what I meant!' I playfully growl.

His chuckle resonates with warmth and love. 'A little tender, like yours, but it will be fine in a few days,' he reassures me, his voice overflowing with affection.

Leaving the dining room behind, we ascend the stairs to Ryker's office. He thoughtfully pulls up a chair next to his, positioning it so I can sit by his side. Then, he places a neat stack of parchments from his desk and an assortment of pens before us.

'We need to write to all the packs, informing them that Shady Crest is now our territory and that I now have my Luna,' Ryker explains, his eyes focused on the task at hand.

Ryker begins by composing the first letter, his pen dancing across the parchment. I follow his lead, meticulously copying the same words onto the other parchments. Once our task is complete, we seal each letter into envelopes.

'All done!' I declare, with a satisfied smile and a sense of accomplishment washing over me.

Observing the darkening sky outside, Ryker suggests, 'Do we want to let our wolves out for a run?'

Excitement courses through me, and I nod eagerly. 'Yes, let's go!' I seize Ryker's hand, and together we bound down the stairs and into the open. We shed our clothes and shift into our wolf forms. Instantly, I pounce on Ryker, our fur-clad bodies rolling in playful combat. I nip at his face before darting toward the woods, urging him to chase me with a gleeful howl.

Our playfulness continues, brimming with energy and enthusiasm. We nip, yap, and nudge each other, reveling in the sheer joy of our connection. As we keep running, we eventually come to a halt at the edge of a tranquil lake. Without hesitation, I sprint forward and leap into the water. Emerging from the lake, I stand waist-deep in the cool water, now in my human form.

Ryker's wolf gazes at me from the lake's edge, admiration and desire flickering in his eyes. He takes a few steps back, building momentum, and then launches himself into the water with full force, creating a cascade of sparkling splashes. 'Ryker!' I shout, a mixture of surprise and delight coursing through me as I look around the water, searching for him.

Suddenly, he emerges, his human form rising from the lake's embrace, water droplets clinging to his glistening skin. 'Astrid,' he says endearingly, our eyes locking under the soft, silvery glow of the moon. Without hesitation, we draw closer, our hearts synchronized, and share a passionate kiss, sealing our love beneath the moon's gentle radiance.

Months later...

With a gentle touch, I rouse Ryker from his slumber, showering his handsome face with tender kisses. 'You know, if you keep doing that, it won't just wake me up, my sweet Astrid,' he teases, his eyes still closed.

In response to his playful remark, I seize a nearby pillow and fling it at his face.

'Hey!' he protests, sitting up and retaliating by hurling a pillow back at me.

Swiftly, I lean back, skillfully avoiding the incoming missile.

'Ha! You missed!' I tease, mischief dancing in my eyes.

'Oh, did I?' Ryker counters, a grin quirking his lips.

He springs out of bed and darts toward me, effortlessly sweeping me off my feet and onto his shoulder.

Spinning us around in a playful twirl. 'Ryker! Stop! You'll make me sick doing that,' I laugh.

Bringing our whirlwind ride to a gradual halt, Ryker pouts in mock disappointment. 'Well, you're no fun!'

'No fun? There's no way you've forgotten about all the fun we had three times last night!' I remind him, sporting a teasing grin.

'Well, you got me there. You're always fun in that department,' Ryker concedes, punctuating his words with a gentle slap to my behind.

'Aye! Did you really just smack my backside?' I gasp in feigned shock.

'Yes, but that should be the least of your worries because I'm so tempted to bite it right now,' he teases, his voice carrying a seductive growl.

'Ryker!' I laugh, my cheeks flushing with delight. 'Put me down,' I plead with a giggle.

Refusing to comply, Ryker continues to carry me over his shoulder as he descends the stairs and leads us into the dining room, a playful grin gracing his features. 'Ryyyyykkkkeer!' I exclaim during our descent, trying my best to stifle bouts of laughter brought on by his antics.

Seated at the dining table, Ryker eventually relents, gently placing me on his lap, his satisfaction evident in his warm smile. There, I put you down,' he announces, adding a wink for good measure.

I respond by rolling my eyes in playful jest.

'Did you just roll your eyes at me, Mrs. Ryker? Because I may be obliged to give you another spanking,' he jests, his tone laced with a cheeky charm.

Blushing profusely, I turn away, acutely aware of the amused silence that has descended upon the rest of the table. The others, their faces tinged with embarrassment, struggle to contain their laughter, fully captivated by our spirited banter.
