The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 25

Ch. 25 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Serena

Another night had arrived, and I decided to take another stroll, but this time, I went in the opposite direction of the river to avoid any unnecessary encounters with Alexei in case he was there.

As I ventured further into the dark forest, a huge bear suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Its fur was matted and patchy, giving it a menacing appearance.

However, at that moment, I heard Remus' voice in my mind, carrying both encouragement and a warning. "Stay calm, Serena. You're not alone. Let me take over so I can help you."

Without hesitation, I allowed him to, triggering a strange transformation within me. I shifted into the form of a wolf, an experience I never thought I would have. It was a magical and surreal transformation that I couldn't help but fall in love with.

As my body morphed, so did my senses and instincts. My platinum-white fur shimmered in the night, and my wolf vision illuminated the bear with an eerie glow. When the bear saw my determination to fight, I lunged at it. Using my teeth and claws, I fought fiercely, answering the bear's roars with defiant growls, determined not to back down. We clashed in a life-and-death battle, adrenaline coursing through my wolf-like veins.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity of battle, I emerged victorious over the massive beast. The metallic scent of its blood filled the air, making me uncomfortable. Seeing that the bear was no match for my skills, it retreated, leaving me relieved.

Once the bear was gone, Remus once again shared his thoughts with me. "You're far too reckless, Serena," he chided. "If you keep wandering around at night, you'll risk unnecessary encounters like these."

My tail tucked between my hind legs as I bowed my head to explain. "I'm sorry, Remus. I thought walking around would help me sleep."

Remus sighed, his eyes softening as he continued, "I understand, but we must be cautious, Serena. There are dangers in these woods that even a wolf may struggle to overcome. We might not be this lucky next time."

"I'll be more careful next time," I promised, my voice tinged with regret as I surveyed the aftermath of my actions. Just then, I remembered an important detail.

"Does this mean I can talk to you anytime I want now?" I asked, excitement in my eyes as I turned to Remus.

Remus nodded inside my head. "Well, since we've already transformed together, the answer is yes," he replied with a playful twinkle in his eyes. I couldn't contain my excitement as I danced up and down at the news. The prospect of talking to Remus anytime I wanted filled my heart with joy.

As I calmed down, Remus shared some additional wisdom. "You know," he began, "The best way to resolve conflicts is through communication. Running away from your problems won't solve anything." It was then that I found meaning in his words.

"Are you talking about my problem with Damon?"

"Yeah," he confirmed. "You'll be surprised to know that Damon was far from what you think of him at this point."

"Sounds like you really spent time with the guy," I teased sarcastically. But his next words dropped a bombshell that sent shockwaves through me.

"I did," he confessed, his expression somber. "I knew Damon Sanford more intimately than Ashford knew him."

I couldn't help but be curious. "How did you know Damon so intimately?"

Remus sighed as he continued. "It's because, before you, I was also his spirit wolf." My eyes widened in shock upon hearing this.

"I don't understand. How did that happen?"

Remus's revelation left me utterly astonished as he explained, "When you and Damon shared a night together, you unintentionally absorbed me into your being. Damon was born with two spirit wolves residing in him, while you were born wolfless. I guess the moon goddess found a way to fix the flaws between both of you."

The gravity of his words sank in, and I realized that my journey was more complex and intertwined with Damon's than I had ever imagined. Questions flooded my mind. Why was Damon born with two spirit wolves? What did this mean for me, for us? And most importantly, what was the truth behind me absorbing Remus into my being?

Remus seemed to sense my turmoil. "I know this is a lot to take in," he said, his voice filled with empathy. "But if you truly want answers, there's only one place to go."

"Where?" I asked though I had a sinking feeling I already knew the answer.

"Blood Rose Pack," Remus replied, his expression resolute. “This whole tangled mess started when you met Damon, and perhaps, seeing him again would provide more answers than I can provide. You need to come with Ashford to see him."

I hesitated, my mind racing with doubts and fears. But deep down, I knew that Remus was right. I couldn't continue evading the truth, and the only way to find the answers I sought was to confront the past, even if it meant facing the man I was trying to forget and run away from.

"Alright," I finally agreed, a determined resolve settling within me. "But first, let me come clean with Wolf Valley. It's time for them to know the truth. They deserve to know about my dark past.”

I returned to the camp with a newfound mission on my mind. It took me a couple of minutes to reach the camp, and my heart pounded in my chest. I wiped the sweat from my hands on my pants and shivered slightly in the evening breeze carrying a hint of the approaching winter. Despite the chill, nervousness still caused beads of sweat to form on my forehead.

Silently, I prayed to the moon goddess for the strength to share my true story with them. I contemplated the best approach to take, realizing that I could no longer delay confronting my past. As I followed the trail toward our tent, luck seemed to be on my side for the first time that night. Lia, Ollie, and Alexei were gathered by a bonfire, engrossed in late-night conversation and laughter.

Lia was the first to spot me and approached with a warm smile. "Hey, Katniss! Want to join us?"

"Lia, I need to talk to you about something important," I began, but Lia appeared not to hear me. Instead, she tugged me toward the bonfire.

"What's up?" she asked, still smiling. Ollie and Alexei turned their attention toward me, and I knew the moment had come.

I took a deep breath. "My name isn't Katniss Sloan," I began, "It's Serena Mitchell."
