The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 13

Ch. 13 / 80 Dec 19, 2025

Serena

Resting in bed, I could still feel the ache of my healing wounds. The memory of the attack lingered in me like a shadow. No matter what I do, it will forever be part of me. But it’s not because of the terrible encounter I had with those pervert rogues. Rather, it’s because of Remus, the spirit wolf that forever changed my life.

As I lay there, my mind wandered to the spirit wolf who had connected with me on that scary day. It felt like a long time had passed, and yet the memory was as clear as day.

I hadn't really thought about Remus and our connection much since then. I was busy recovering and regaining my strength. But now, in the quiet night, thoughts of him came back to me.

I wasn't born with a spirit wolf, so having Remus in my life was both amazing and puzzling. I was pretty sure he had spoken to me and helped me shift into a wolf during the attack. Still, I wondered if it was all just a dream caused by the fear.

I was tossing and turning in my bed, lost in thoughts about what truly happened. Sleep was elusive as my mind raced with questions.

"Remus," I murmured, my voice barely audible in the quiet night. I shut my eyes, trying to bring back the feeling of when we connected. Memories flooded my thoughts.

"Can you hear me?" I asked again in my mind, hoping for an answer. I waited, straining to sense any response, but there was only silence. It felt like the air had been sucked out of the room.

I concentrated harder as if that would somehow make a difference. Yet, it was like trying to catch a breeze with my hands. “Remus? I know you’re in there.”

But still, nothing. Frustration pricked at me. I furrowed my brows, clenching my fists. How can I speak to him again? How can I create that connection that once saved my life?

I took a slow breath, trying to calm my disappointment as I closed my eyes. I knew Remus was there somewhere inside me. Maybe, I just need to wait for him to reach out instead of me looking for him.

The moment I opened my eyes, I found myself standing in a moonlit forest. A familiar silver light was facing me, only this time, the light slowly formed into a majestic silver wolf.

“Remus?” I called out and the wolf bowed his head to greet me. His eyes held a wisdom that went beyond words.

“Hi, Serena,” he greeted. I walked to him and stretched my hand. Remus seemed to understand that I wanted to feel him, and he allowed me.

I stroke his fur, savoring the moment. Just then, I remembered what happened earlier. “Does this mean I cannot talk to you unless you allow me to?”

The response came like a whisper in my mind, "Well, yes and no." Remus's voice was a mixture of certainty and understanding. "As your spirit wolf, you can reach out to me in your thoughts whenever you wish. However, physically, you're not yet equipped to maintain this connection. It's like a thread that needs strengthening. You must train and discover how to enhance our bond."

His words made sense, and my heart raced from the thought. This whole spirit wolf thing was new to me, unlike others who had it from birth. I felt like a baby bird learning to fly. It was like being given a puzzle without the instructions, a challenge I had to figure out myself.

I blinked my eyes open, and suddenly, I was back in my room. The transition was so swift, it could have been mistaken for a dream. But deep down, I knew it was more than that. It was real. Remus was inside me, and the only way to strengthen our connection was to undergo training.

A surge of determination washed over me. If physical training was the path I needed to follow, then I was more than willing to walk it. I'd do whatever it took to strengthen the bond I had with Remus—the one thing I considered a miracle in my life.
