The Alpha Triplets and the Rogue

543 Breakout

Ch. 543 / 580 Jan 28, 2026

Wren POV

The portal between the realms is broken. When Onyx gave her life to open it, the magical fabric became damaged beyond repair. It can't be closed. Fae and Lycan guards stand on either side to keep it safe until a remedy can be found. Nyx has been spending every moment trying to find a solution that doesn't involve another sacrifice from the royal family. So far, she is coming up short. Or at least that is what I am being told.

The doctor is refusing to let me leave the hospital. He has restricted my visitors, claiming my mental health is at risk. Only one person is allowed to see me a day. The doctor won't even bend to my mother's pleas to release me, and Dad has been restricted from the building. Something about threatening to burn it to the ground. This man can't be reasoned with, and I get the feeling his reasons for keeping me here are selfish.

"It has been a week," I growl at the doctor. "I am healed. You have seen it yourself."

"It isn't your physical health I am worried about," he reminds me for the thousandth time.

I roll my eyes in frustration. Did I try to kill myself? Yes. But it's not a big deal. I won't do it again. I haven't heard from Selene since I woke up. I really think she is going to leave me alone.

"Just a few more days of evaluation," he continues. "I know you think your actions weren't a big deal, but so many people would disagree." He keeps looking at my chart and I want to rip it out of his hands.

I throw my head back onto my pillow and close my eyes. I need him to go away. I need to get out of here. "What can I say to make you go away? Better yet, what can I say so you will let me leave?"

"Princess," he groans. "You are the future of this world. I have to make sure you are safe."

I snort loudly. "You are not keeping me here for my safety. You only want to secure the royal bloodline. But I can assure you, my parents are more than capable of having another child. They fuck like rabbits."

His teeth grind together. "I will be back later."

He opens the door and almost runs into Sophie. She has a huge grin on her face and refuses to move out of the doctor's way. I do not doubt she heard everything the doctor had to say. There is a bag thrown over her shoulder, and I hope she is here to sneak me out of his place. If anyone can do it, it is Sophie.

"Visiting hours are over," the doctor snarls at her, but she is steadfast.

"She can stay," I tell him.

He glances over his shoulder and glares at me. "You need your rest."

"I am the Princess," I remind him. "Or have you forgotten? An hour won't kill me."

He steps to the side and lets Sophie through. "Your reputation precedes you," he tells her. "There will be a guard outside."

The door slams behind him, and Sophie pulls the curtain around the bed. There is an urgency in her gaze as she pulls the bag off her shoulder. "We don't have much time."

I am on my feet. She doesn't have to tell me twice. I strip off my hospital gown and toss it to the side. Sophie is pulling out clothes, and I am quickly getting dressed. She peeks her head out of the curtain and gestures for me to follow her. There isn't a guard at my door, and I raise an eyebrow at Sophie.

"I might have paid him off," she whispers.

I cover my mouth to keep from laughing. "What did you give him?"

She runs her fingers over her mouth and smiles. "The usual."

A fit of giggles burst from my mouth, and it catches the attention of the nurse at the nurse's station. Sophie grabs my hand and smiles brightly. "Run!"

We race through the hallways of the hospital. I pray she knows the way because this place is a maze. Nurses are stepping out, trying to stop us, but I bare my teeth in their direction. Many of them back away, not wanting to upset the Luna Princess.

The front door is just ahead, and I can see Destin waiting for me outside. His beat up truck is already running, and the door is open. Sophia pushes me into the truck and climbs in behind me. My doctor stands in front of Destin, trying to stop him from going, but Destin shoves him back. When he climbs in the truck, he places a kiss on my cheek before taking off.

"Why didn't you come rescue me?" I try to keep my face serious, but I am so happy to be free of the hospital, I am failing.

Destin cuts his eyes at Sophie. "She thought it would be more fun her way."

"I wasn't wrong," she laughs. "Now, let's get to the portal."

"Wait." I suddenly feel panicked. "I have to say goodbye to Mom, Dad, and Father."

"They are waiting for us with Charlie at the portal," he assures me.

The panic in my chest doesn't ease. The last time I was in the Immortal Realm, I came close to dying, and then I almost did. My breaths become quicker, and everything starts to get a little fuzzy.

"Shit," Sophie mutters from beside me.

She grabs my face and forces me to look into her eyes. "You will not pass out," she hisses at me. "I have too much to tell you."

I notice flecks of gold in her eyes that I haven't seen before, and my breaths start to even out. "Like what?"

"Look at my arms," she smiles.

Slowly, she lets go of my face, and I look down at her arms. They are covered in runes. Both of them.

"Sophie," I gasp. "You have two mates."

"I know," she squeals. "Like a single man could keep me satisfied. Now, I just need to find them."

I am missing a huge detail of some sort. "How did that happen?"

"The magic from the Immortal Realm is leaking through the portal. There is nothing Selene can do to stop them from finding their mates now," Destin fills me in.

"Oh shit," I whisper. "This is a huge deal."

"It is," Destin glances at me. "You are finally free from Selene."

My eyes are focused on the road ahead, and tears drip from my eyes. "I hope you are right."
