Kaden POV
Jesse struts out of Kai's room with a smirk on her face. She got exactly what she wanted. She convinced Kai to betray the mate bond and now Tish won't ever come back. I may have fucked up by calling the North Pack, but at least I didn't sleep with someone else.
I am desperately trying to keep my anger in check, but Apollo is ready to kill him. He is snarling in my mind, trying to break free.
Kai pulls on his boxers and holds his hands up in defense. "It's not what it looks like."
"Then what the fuck was it?" I growl.
Kai swallows hard. "It was a mistake. I couldn't even finish. She's not Tish."
"And that is supposed to make it all better?" I shout at him. "You still betrayed the bond. What if Tish felt it?"
Kai rolls his eyes. "She didn't feel it. Haven't you noticed? She doesn't feel the bond the way we do."
"You are fucking stupid," I groan. "You have ruined everything. She feels more than you know."
"Me?" Kai laughs. "You started all of this when you outed her to the North Pack. You just couldn't keep her a secret for a little longer."
"I just wanted to claim her," I reply. "You can't tell me you didn't want the same. You were losing your mind because she hasn't been marked."
"Don't put this on me," Kai laughs. "You fucked up first."
"I fucking hate you sometimes," I scream at him.
"I hate you more," Kai yells back. "There should have been only one of us."
"I am sure Mom and Dad feel the same way," I smirk, but I instantly know that I have crossed a line.
Kai growls angrily. "What did you say?"
"I didn't mean it," I try to backtrack, but it is too late.
Kai lunges for me and tackles me to the ground. My back hits the floor, and I snarl at him, "You don't want to do this."
"I will fucking kill you," Kai growls. "Then I will be the Golden Son."
Kicking Kai off me, he flies across the room and hits his bed. The bedframe breaks under the impact. Kai is shaking his head. He is hurt, but I don't care. I rush across the room and pin him to the floor. Throwing punch after punch, I pummel his face.
"I am not the Golden Son," I shout as I hit him.
Kai manages to move beneath me, and my hand hits the floor beside his head. He grabs my wrist and flips me onto my back. His knee crashes into my groin, and I hiss in pain. An evil smile spreads across his face, and he does it again.
I slap him across the face, "You are such a bitch."
"What is going on in here?" Dad's voice rumbles.
"Nothing," Kai and I say in unison, but we don't stop fighting.
We are rolling on the floor. Both of us are trying to land punches where we can. I hit Kai in the nose, and blood begins to run down his face. In return, Kai sinks his teeth into my arm and bites out a chunk of my flesh. He spits it across the room, and the fight continues.
Dad is shouting at us from the doorway. He is trying to command us to stop fighting, but it isn't working. He tries to pull Kai off me, but Kai shoves him across the room and continues to attack me.
I hear Dad hit the ground, and I want to check on him, but Kai isn't giving me a chance. The longer we fight, the angrier he gets. He is beginning to lose control. If I don't stop this fight, he will hurt me and possibly Dad. I am doing my best to get the upper hand, but Kai has always been the stronger fighter. He channels all of his anger into the battle, making him impossible to defeat.
A shrill scream echoes in the bedroom, and Kai stops hitting me. I shove him off of me and see Mom standing in the doorway. Her blue eyes are glowing with anger. She is looking in my father's direction. Kai and I both look at Dad, and there is blood running down his temple. He must have hit it on the dresser when Kai pushed him away.
Kai and I get to our feet and stand with our eyes focused on the ground. Mom ignores us as she helps Dad to his feet. She carefully checks his temple and then turns to us. Storming across the room, she slaps us both across the cheeks.
"Which one of you did this?" She demands to know, pointing at our father. "You know what? It doesn't matter. What is going on in here?"
"We were having a disagreement," I respond through gritted teeth.
"Over that human," she scoffs.
"That human is our mate," I remind her. "I am not giving her up without a fight."
Mom pinches the bridge of her nose and takes several deep breaths. "There are many more she-wolves that would make a suitable Luna. You should reject her and move on."
"That's a bad idea," Dad groans from the corner.
"Why?" Mom says with her arms crossed over her chest.
"An Alpha is stronger with their fated mate by their side. The boys will need Tish if they want to be taken seriously," Dad reminds her.
"I disagree," Mom scoffs. "A Luna needs to be a werewolf. Not a human."
Dad ignores Mom. "You need to go get her," he tells us.
"She isn't ready to come back," I tell him. "We have broken her trust. Both of us have."
"You don't understand," Dad groans in pain. "She has contacted the North Pack. Alpha Kieran is on his way here to collect her."
A snarl comes from Kai. "What does he want with her?"
"Apparently," Dad growls. "His Luna is concerned for her well-being here and wants to make sure she is safe."
Mom gasps. "Do you boys have any idea what this means?" When none of us answer her, she stomps her foot in anger. "If the Luna Queen catches wind of this, she will come for a visit."
"So," Kai shrugs. "We've got nothing to hide."
Mom stabs her finger into Kai's chest. "Your anger alone is a liability. If you two don't appear fit to be Alpha, our family could lose this pack."
"Your mother is right," Dad sighs. "You all have already put doubt in the North Pack's mind that you are incapable of running a pack. I am sure Alpha Kieran will report what he finds back to his sister. You need to go get your mate and make things up to her."
