Tish POV
My feet are killing me by the end of the night but in a good way. The bar was busier than I expected for a Monday night. It was hard to tell who was human, who was rogue, and who was a pack member, but I am sure I will get the hang of it eventually.
I am wiping down the tables while Cedric locks the door. There are a few stragglers left in the bar, but Cedric doesn't force them to leave, even though the last call was thirty minutes ago.
When I am done wiping down the tables, I head to the bar and sit down. Slipping off my heels, I rub my feet.
"Tired," Cedric asks.
"Not really," I smile. "Just need to get back into the groove of things."
"You were awesome tonight," he tells me. "I don't think anyone knew it was your first night."
"If you've worked in one bar, you've worked in them all," I smirk.
"You can head out," he tells me. "These guys will be here until the wee hours of the morning."
I look over at the table of men. Their hair is long and gray. Beards hang down to their bellies, and their clothes are tattered.
"Rogues?" I ask.
Cedric nods. "They don't have anywhere else to go, and nights aren't safe for old guys like these in rogue territory."
I cock my head to the side as I look at them. I don't pretend to fully understand the ins and outs of the werewolf world, but I do know that most pack members don't associate with rogues.
"Why do you care?" I whisper. "You are a pack member, and they are rogues."
"Not everything is cut and dry," Cedric replies. "I can be a pack member and still care about the wellbeing of rogues. A lot of them didn't choose this life for themselves. They've just had a misfortunate life."
I smile. "You remind me of someone I used to know."
"Yeah?" Cedric smiles. "Who's that?"
"She is the only person who loved me for who I am," I tell him sadly. "She could see past the ugly into my soul."
"What happened to her?" Cedric asks.
I shrug my shoulders. "She found a mate. I acted less than respectable and pushed her away. She is better off without me. She has her whole life in front of her now and she doesn't have to worry about caring for me."
Cedric brushes my hair out of my face. "You should get home. I don't want the twins showing up looking for you."
"Fair enough," I sigh.
Sliding back on my shoes, I peck Cedric on the cheek and head out the door. The parking lot is dark, and I can feel the hair on the back of my neck rise. I feel like I am being watched.
I pick up the pace and rush to my car. Once I am inside, I lock the doors and take a few calming breaths. I flick on the lights, and I swear I catch a glimpse of a light-colored wolf in the distance.
Shaking my fears from my mind, I pull out of the parking lot and head home. I fight the urge to push the Corvette as fast as it will go. I don't have my license, and I don't want to get pulled over.
The drive back to the pack house is quiet. There are hardly any cars on the road. I roll the windows down and sing loudly with the music to keep myself awake.
I pull into the pack house driveway and notice that it is dark. No one is awake. Getting out of the car, I make sure to grab my spare bat, and I head to the cabin. I expected to see the lights on inside, but it, too, is dark. Disappointment washes over me. I was hoping the twins would have waited up for me.
"It's casual," I remind myself.
Just as I approach the door, someone steps from the side of the cabin. I squint into the darkness and see blonde hair walking toward me. I groan loudly. It is Kai's bitch.
As she gets closer to me, I realize she is naked. I let my eyes roam over her body. It is not impressive. Her breasts are average but not perky. Her body isn't curvy or soft. As I stare at her body, I begin to feel a lot more confident about myself.
She crosses her arms over her breasts, pushing them together to make them look larger. There is a strange smirk on her face.
"Can I help you?" I ask her.
The bitch steps toward me and tries to touch me. "I think we can help each other," she says in a fake voice.
"I don't think so," I say, stepping toward my door.
"My name is Jessica," she says desperately.
"Okay," I mutter.
"I'm curious, and I think you might be just the person to help me with that," she practically yells.
I don't have to guess what she is talking about. She is trying to get me to sleep with her. I look her up and down one more time and shake my head. "You aren't my type."
This conversation isn't going as Jessica planned, and she pulls me back by the shoulders. I grip the bat in my hand and prepare myself for a fight.
"You are kind of ruining things for me," Jessica snarls.
"I'm sorry," I laugh. "I wasn't aware that my presence was affecting you."
"I have been trying to get Kai's full attention for a while now," she says boldly. "I almost had him where I wanted him, and then you showed up."
I laugh nervously. "What does sleeping with me have to do with you trying to sleep with Kai?"
Jessica groans. "You are such a stupid human."
"I am human," I confirm. "I am still confused."
"I need to know if you are their mate or not," Jessica shouts at me.
My nervous laughter stops, and I am stunned. "What are you talking about?"
"Do I have to explain everything to you?" Jessica snaps.
"Apparently," I yell back at her.
"If I got you to sleep with me, and they felt it, that means you are their mate," Jessica huffs.
"I am not their mate," I assure her. "I am sure they would have mentioned something if I was."
Jessica isn't satisfied with my response. "Then why are you here? Why are they planning on moving you into the pack house?"
"I am not moving into the pack house," I tell her. "I don't know where you are getting your information, but it is not correct."
"I am an Omega in the pack house," she hisses at me. "I know everything that goes on."
"Well," I say awkwardly. "It is late. You are naked. I am not sleeping with you, and I am not moving into the pack house. I got a job. I am saving up money to get out of here. Now, if you will excuse me, I want to go to bed."
"Kai belongs to me," she reminds me as I walk through the cabin door. "I will be his Luna."
"Good for you," I shout over my shoulder before I shut the door.
