Alisha's POV
After enjoying a delightful lunch with Louie, I returned to the Golden Crest in the afternoon. The job interview had been a letdown, and I couldn't help but feel disappointed. But spending time with Louie had brought me an incredible sense of happiness and fulfillment.
As a werewolf, I felt like I had failed in certain aspects, but as a singer, I found success in connecting with others through my original songs. This gave me great courage to leave the Golden Crest-I am able to work as a human singer to support my life with grandma.
This newfound fulfillment and acceptance from others made me seriously consider a different path in life.
As I settled down on the sofa, lost in thought, my phone rang, jolting me out of my reverie. I answered the call with curiosity, "Hello?"
"Theresa, it's Benefield!" The voice on the other end sounded with a pleasing tone, "I am deeply sorry for what happened today. You are an outstanding singer, and I am thrilled to have you work with us! Please come to the company tomorrow to sign the contract!"
My confusion deepened. "But you said I didn't pass the interview to force me to apologize to Erma."
"That was a misunderstanding! You were more than qualified to pass!" he hurriedly clarified.
Something about Benefield's sudden change of attitude raised red flags in my mind. Louie's earlier warning about the strange and dangerous scent lingered in my thoughts, and I didn't want to get involved with someone who might have ulterior motives. Perhaps Benefield was a rogue, attempting to manipulate me into signing a contract, only to use it for nefarious purposes.
"I'm sorry, but I have already made my decision. I don't want to work for you," I firmly declined, my voice resolute.
"Wait, Theresa, I can apologize and make amends for anything that went wrong! Please, just consider working with us," he pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation.
But his insistence only fueled my doubts further. Why was Benefield so eager to have me work for him now? It seemed suspicious, and I didn't want to take any risks. Louie's warning echoed in my mind, urging me to trust my instincts and stay away from potential danger.
"No," I stated firmly, "regardless of what you say, I won't sign any contract with you. Please don't bother me again."
The call ended, leaving me with a mix of emotions. I knew I had made the right decision to prioritize my safety and listen to Louie's advice. Though the prospect of turning down a job opportunity was disheartening, my life was much more important.
But why did Benefield suddenly invited me to work? He has humiliated me harshly this morning, while now, he begged me to sign contract. That's too weird.
Before I wanted to tell Louie this thing, my phone rang again, I thought it was Benefield again, but to my surprise, it was a strange number.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is DM Entertainment. I'm Pamula. We noticed that Theresa, you had visited our company before to discuss song copyright cooperation and we did purchase the copyright, I wanted to ask if you would be willing to reconsider joining our company as a singer?"
The call from Pamula at DM Entertainment left me stunned and speechless. It seemed like a whirlwind of unexpected opportunities had descended upon me, and I struggled to process the sudden turn of events.
"Are you serious?" I finally managed to ask, my voice tinged with disbelief.
"Absolutely," Pamula replied warmly. "If you don't believe me, you can come to DM tomorrow, and you'll see it for yourself."
Still trying to wrap my head around the situation, I couldn't help but question their change of heart. "But why do you suddenly want to sign me as a singer now? Last time, when I sold my song to you, I tried to apply to work for your company as a singer, but you refused to let me sing that song. What made you change your mind?"
"First of all, let me apologize for what happened before," Pamula began sincerely. "We truly regret not recognizing your talent earlier. After a meticulous and thorough evaluation by the top management of our company, we now firmly believe that you are an exceptionally talented singer with great potential for growth. Your unique voice and captivating performances have caught our attention, and we are eager to have the opportunity to collaborate with you."
Her words took a moment to sink in, and I felt a surge of emotions welling up inside me. It was difficult to comprehend that the same company that had once turned me away was now extending such a heartfelt invitation.
"I… I don't know what to say," I stammered, still processing the unexpected offer. "This is overwhelming. But, I need some time to think about it."
"Of course, take all the time you need," Pamula reassured me. "We understand that this is a significant decision, and we want you to feel comfortable and confident in your choice."
As the call ended, my mind was a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions. Previously, I was worrying about job opportunities, and now, both of these companies are inviting me to join them on the same day? It's unbelievable! I decided to discuss the situation with Louie, seeking his wisdom. After going through all these experiences, especially after revealing my new identity to Louie this morning, I now have absolute trust in him.
As Archie's figure appeared at the door, my heart sank a little. I hadn't planned on discussing the unexpected job offers in front of him, especially after the tense exchange we had earlier in the day. I paused, trying to find the right words to greet him without revealing too much.
"You seem to be in a good mood," Archie observed, breaking the silence.
I couldn't deny that I was feeling surprisingly upbeat despite the day's events. Perhaps spending time with Louie and receiving the offers from DM entertainment had lifted my spirits. I managed a small shrug, intending to go upstairs and change my clothes.
But Archie stopped me, "We are leaving tomorrow, so remember to prepare tonight."
I nodded, recalling the agreement I had made earlier to accompany him to some ceremony. "Which pack are we going to?" I inquired, curious about the destination.
"Blood Dawn in the north," Archie replied.
My eyes widened in disbelief. "North? How far is that, and how are we getting there?" The thought of traveling to a distant northern pack intrigued and worried me. I hadn't heard of Blood Dawn before, but that wasn't surprising as few people were willing to talk to me about such things. However, I knew the Golden Crest's Alpha was renowned as an Eastern Lord, so it sounded like a long journey to a northern pack.
"Tomorrow morning, you and Brad will take a flight there. The ceremony will be held in the evening," he explained.
"Me and Brad? What about you?" I couldn't help but ask, curious about his own plans.
Archie chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I know you want to be with me, but I have other arrangements and will be leaving soon. So, we'll meet directly at Blood Dawn tomorrow night. Don't worry, I promise you'll see me there."
His assumption about my desire to be with him made me roll my eyes. "Don't flatter yourself," I retorted playfully. "Who said I wanted to be with you anyway?"
Archie's lips curved into a smirk, and he playfully raised an eyebrow. "Oh, come on now, you can't deny it. You're secretly infatuated with me."
I laughed, shaking my head in mock exasperation. "You wish! But don't worry, Brad and I will be sure to enjoy the journey without you!"
Archie's face suddenly clouded.
I looked up defiantly at Archie, showing no fear.
Just then, Mireya appeared and whispered, "Alpha, Erma is here. She says she has something to discuss with you."
