Alisha's POV
As I gazed at the striking man beside me, my heart skipped a beat. He seemed to exude an air of authority and confidence, unlike anything I had ever seen before. His tall figure stood proudly, and his piercing eyes held a hint of mystery. Was he a model, gracing the covers of fashion magazines? A renowned movie star? Or perhaps someone even more important in the music industry?
His question brought me back, and I blinked, trying to recall if our paths had ever crossed. "Why do you say that? I think we haven't met before."
The man's lips curved into a charming smile, adding to his already magnetic aura. "Forgive me, please. I happen to hear that you seem to dislike this company and its boss," he said, his voice smooth like velvet.
My curiosity piqued, I couldn't help but ask, "Yeah, but why do you ask? Do you work for the company?"
His eyes sparkled with amusement as he replied, "Well, no. I just wondered what made you so angry."
As if he had unlocked a hidden vault, my frustration with the company's interview spilled out. "Absolutely! The management of this company is terrible. They actually hired a lousy director! I came here for an interview, hoping for a fair chance, but he used it as an opportunity to settle personal scores and retaliate against me! With employees like him in this trashy company, I bet it won't be long before it goes bankrupt."
His eyebrow raised in intrigue, and he inquired further, "Who was your interviewer, if I may ask?"
"Director Benefield! If he had issues with me, he should have spoken up earlier. Instead, I wasted my time coming here for the interview, and because of that, I had to reluctantly agree to Archie's damn demands. In the end, it was all a big waste of more than two hours of my precious time! I had plans to meet a dear friend later, and he had to wait for me for so long. I thought the interview would be quick and promising, but who would've expected this kind of situation!" I lamented, my frustration still fresh and tangible.
Hearing my words, the man replied kindly, "I understand your disappointment. It's disheartening to have your time wasted, especially when you had other important plans." He pondered for a moment and then continued, "Well, it's not easy to find a taxi around here. If you don't mind, I can give you a ride to see your friend. Perhaps this way, you'll get there sooner and salvage some of your day."
As the man offered to give me a ride, I was taken aback by his kindness. I didn't expect a strange to offer such a gesture.
I hesitated for a moment, not knowing if I should accept his offer. After all, I had just met him, and it would be unwise to trust someone so easily. But then I remembered that Louie had been waiting for me for a while, and I didn't want to keep him waiting any longer.
"Thank you for the offer," I replied, still feeling a bit cautious. "But I don't want to inconvenience you. It's just a short distance, and I can manage on my own."
The man chuckled, and his smile widened. "Oh, it's no inconvenience at all. I have some time to spare, and I'd be glad to help you out."
His reassuring demeanor and genuine kindness put me at ease. Besides, I had a feeling that he would never hurt me. I felt a sense of kinship with the this man, although this was the first time I saw him. There was something about him that made me trust him, despite the circumstances.
"Alright then, if you insist," I said with a small smile. "I appreciate your help."
As we walked towards his car, I couldn't help but wonder who this man really was. He seemed familiar, as if I had seen him somewhere before, but I couldn't place where.
Once we were inside the car, I finally mustered the courage to ask, "By the way, I didn't catch your name."
He glanced at me and replied, "My name is Gray. Gary Dyess."
Gary Dyess. The name rang a bell, but I still couldn't figure out where I had heard it before. Nonetheless, I appreciated his introduction and decided to focus on getting to my destination without any further distractions.
As we drove through the city, I couldn't help but notice how smoothly he handled the car. It was clear that Alex was a man of many talents. We engaged in light conversation, and I found myself opening up to him about my passion for music and my dreams of becoming a successful singer.
To my surprise, Alex seemed genuinely interested in my story. He asked me about my influences, my favorite genres, and my plans for the future. Besides, he gave me many advices about my career. I couldn't help but admit that he was a visionary person. His insights into many issues were profound, and chatting with him was not only enjoyable but also very enlightening.
As we approached the meeting spot with Louie, I felt a profound sense of gratitude towards Alex. He had turned what could have been a disastrous day into something much more pleasant, and I couldn't help but admire his thoughtfulness.
"Thank you so much, Alex," I said with genuine appreciation, my voice tinged with a mix of relief and admiration.
He smiled warmly, his eyes twinkling with kindness. "You're welcome," he replied, his voice soft and reassuring. "Consider it my apology and a small token of compensation for the inconvenience."
The sincerity in his words touched my heart, leaving me curious about the reason behind his generosity. However, before I could inquire further, Alex waved farewell and started his car, leaving me with a lingering sense of intrigue.
Shrugging off my unanswered questions for now, I hurried into the restaurant to meet Louie, who was patiently waiting for me.
"Sorry to have you wait for me so long," I apologized sincerely as soon as I saw him.
Louie shook his head with an affectionate smile, his eyes reflecting understanding. But as he opened his mouth to say something, a subtle shift in his expression caught my attention. His smile faded, replaced by a look of concern.
"Theresa, is everything alright?" he asked, his voice gentle but laden with worry.
I couldn't hide my confusion, "I don't know, Louie. Why do you ask?"
His gaze locked onto mine, searching for something. Then, he leaned slightly forward, sniffing hardly as if trying to catch a scent. My heart raced as his behavior puzzled me.
"Who did you meet or stay with just now?" he asked carefully, his eyes unwavering.
