Once Upon a Night With My Stepdad

016

Ch. 16 / 85 Dec 06, 2025

It's been weeks now and Scarlett still hasn't been able to get through to Adrian. She tried several means to get him to come over, including demanding more stuff from her mother but that didn't work. It seemed like Adrian was doing everything possible to avoid her.

“Miss Scarlett.” The professor's voice snapped Scarlett back to reality and she flinched, looking around the lecture hall. Her eyes landed on the professor who was glaring at her.

“I asked you a question and you didn't even hear me. What were you thinking about?” He asked.

Scarlett didn't know what to say, she didn't even know that she had trailed off, and now she was about to be embarrassed in front of the whole class.

“Um..” Before she could get any word out, the professor's attention was called towards the door. A smartly dressed woman stood by the door, beckoning for him to come. He went to answer the woman and came back to get his stuff.

“We will continue our class next time. Please remember to do your assignment.” He told them before rushing off with the woman.

Scarlett was relieved, she had been saved this time around. Who knows what that foul-mouthed professor would have told her?

“Hey, are you okay? You haven't been yourself for a few days now. You barely concentrate in class, I always catch you lost in thoughts, what's the matter?” Nelly questioned Scarlett. Other students were already leaving the lecture hall, they were the only ones left, along with two other girls who were also having a conversation.

“I'm fine.” Scarlett feigned a smile. How could she tell her that she had been thinking about fucking her would-be stepdad to be? It sounded crazy. She didn't think anyone would understand… but then again, she and Nelly were a lot alike.

“C'mon, I know you're not fine. Something's definitely bothering you. You can talk to me, I'm your friend.” Nelly persisted, she didn't like how much Scarlett was slacking when it came to her classes.

“Well...” Scarlett sighed and bit her lip. She pondered over whether she should actually tell Nelly the truth or not.

“Why don't we meet for coffee later this evening and I can tell you everything then.” She quickly replied, needing more time to make up her mind.

“That sounds fine, you take care of yourself okay?” Nelly said, placing a hand on Scarlett's shoulder.

“I will.”

They headed out of the lecture hall and Scarlett went home since that happened to be her last class for the day. Nelly, on the other hand, had to attend a book club meeting so she parted ways with Scarlett.

Later that evening after much deliberation, Scarlett called Nelly and asked her to meet her at a particular cafe that she had picked out. They met in the parking lot and walked in together. As usual, Scarlett attracted a lot of attention, it turned out that many college students came to that same cafe daily.

“I feel so awkward with all these stares.” She gagged but Nelly chuckled.

“I feel you should be used to this by now, considering how beautiful and hot you are!”

Scarlett rolled her eyes at that statement and then they ordered some coffee.

“So, are you going to tell me now?” Nelly inquired.

Scarlett hated being judged, and the fact that she didn't know Nelly enough made it even tougher for her to tell the truth. But she decided to twist the story a little bit just so that she could hear what Nelly had to say.

“Actually, it's a friend of mine. A very close friend. She's in this dilemma and I don't know how to help her out.”

“Okay? What's the problem?”

Scarlett went ahead to tell Nelly everything about Adrian, right from the first day she met him, up until the current situation of things. The only thing she changed was that she told Nelly that it was her close friend instead of her.

“Do you know the most annoying part? Well, according to what my friend told me, her mother sleeps around, she doesn't even respect this guy and they'll surely break up!” She looked so bitter about the whole thing which made Nelly wonder if it was really her friend that she was talking about.

“Well, does the guy feel the same way about the girl?”

“No.” Scarlett shook her head, feeling bad.

“If he doesn't feel the same way then I think the girl shouldn't keep being so direct with him. I feel she should take things slow, probably become his friend first, and gradually get him to fall for her.” Nelly's advice interested Scarlett, and suddenly she became happy that she decided to tell her.

“Thanks, I'll tell her.” She responded, sipping her coffee.

They suddenly heard mumbles and screams coming from the cafe and looked up only to see Ethan, Mike, and a few other football players walking into the cafe.

Nelly got excited too, and along with the other girls in the cafe, they started to chant Ethan's name loudly, cheering and professing love to him. Ethan grinned and waved at them, Scarlett couldn't help but roll her eyes in disgust, wondering what was so special about this young boy.

“I love you, Ethan!” Nelly yelled.

“Really?” Scarlett scoffed.

Just then, Ethan and Mike turned and saw Scarlett, Mike whispered something to Ethan and they both chuckled. Ethan prepared to walk up to Scarlett, he kept staring at her to get her attention but she was thinking about something else. Just when Ethan started to approach their table, her phone rang so she excused herself to answer the call.

“Hi, Uncle Rich,” Scarlett answered enthusiastically, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

“My angel.” Richard chuckled over the phone.

Scarlett and her uncle had a healthy relationship, he was someone that she loved and respected a lot and Richard cared about her a great deal. She was always happy to speak to him.

“How are you my darling?”

“I'm fine Uncle Rich.”

“Good, hope I'm not distracting anything. I can hear a lot of voices.”

“Oh no, it's just some stupid girls falling over each other for the attention of some boy,” Scarlett answered with an eye roll, her voice laced with dread.

“You haven't changed.” Richard sneered.

“So what's up? Is there any particular reason you called?”

“Ah.. yes my dear. You know you're already of age to start attending the board meetings. As the heiress, you have to start learning how things work in the company and part of your training is to attend the meetings.” Richard went straight to the point.

Scarlett was curious to know how she would handle school and work at the same time. “But uncle, I'm a student.”

“That's not a problem, you're going to be the president, you can check your class schedules and fix the meetings when it's convenient for you.”

Scarlett thought about it and she didn't see anything wrong with her uncle's idea. Besides, this would be a great way to tame her mother. She knew that her mom valued her position in the company and would do anything to make her happy. She grinned, a plan coming together in her head.

She ended the call with her uncle and started making her way back to Nelly when she bumped into someone who seemed to be in a rush. When she looked up, it turned out to be Ethan and she immediately got angry.

“Are you blind? Why the fuck can't you watch where you're going?” She fired, followed by a long hiss.

“If anyone is blind here then it's you! You're simply a proud peacock who thinks she's always right.” Ethan retorted.

Having no time for him, Scarlett walked away, going back to meet Nelly while Ethan headed out, wondering what kind of a girl she was.

Scarlett walked back to Nelly, fuming because of the encounter she had just had with Ethan but Nelly seemed to be ecstatic for some reason.

“What's up with you?” Scarlett queried with raised eyebrows.

“Ethan spoke to me. He invited us to his birthday party.” Nelly squealed with excitement.

Scarlett was surprised and mumbled to herself; “What is he up to?”
