Elona’s POV
Seated at my desk while we did a quiz, I still had those thoughts in my mind about Mr Monroe and Tristan. I shifted in my seat as I bit the end of my pen. My mind was not even focused on the quiz in front of me. No matter how much I think about my fantasies, Tristan still hurt me and I don’t think I will ever be okay with him again.
I even noticed that there was tension between Spooky and Cris when they entered class earlier. That snapped me out of my thoughts as I looked at them. They were focused on their quizzes. I wanted to know if everything was okay, but I wouldn’t speak to Cris after everything she had said to me that made me want to rip my heart out.
As I peeled my eyes away from them, my eyes found Mr Monroe’s as they were already on me. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly before he looked down at whatever papers he had in front of him on the desk. His hair fell over his forehead, and then he ran his fingers through his hair, they just fell back again. His three-piece suit even hugged him in the right place, but he had taken his jacket off after handing out the quizzes. He left his waistcoat on.
The bell rang, signaling that class had ended. I packed up my things. “Class, please hand in your quizzes,” he said. I looked at my quiz and I only answered a few. Shit. “Remember graduation is a few months away, you need to give your all.” With a sigh, I slung my backpack strap over one shoulder and took the quiz as everyone else was filing out of the class. Cris was eager to leave and Spooky lingered a bit. I walked over to Mr Monroe’s desk.
I held out my page to him, and he took it from me. “Mr Monroe, I want to ask you something.”
He placed my page on the pile, and then Spooky appeared next to me, handing in his quiz before leaving. My eyes remained on the desk.
“What is it that you want to ask?” I looked into his hazel eyes, that soft smile appearing again.
“The photoshoot that we did together. I don’t think we should do that again. You’re my teacher and it’s inappropriate.” I swallowed.
“I get your concerns, but everything will be fine. It was strictly business, that was all Mr Luca’s idea. It’s our jobs too at the end of the day, but I get your point. If you are uncomfortable, then speak to him. I tried my best to make you feel comfortable, and I know that I’m no predator either. No one will know here. It will be in magazines and perhaps social media if we are cut out for that part, but I doubt we will even be on social media with our photos all over.” my stomach did a little flip just thinking about the way that he touched me and my fantasies. “Elona?” I snapped out of it, he raised his brow expecting an answer from me.
“Um. I hope that it doesn’t get to that extent. We cannot do that anymore and you have a girlfriend. I don’t want any trouble.” he leaned back in his chair as he let out a heavy sigh.
“I’m sorry about that. I will have a word with her.” he said, “Is there anything else?” he asked.
“No, that’s all. Have a good day, sir.” I said before I left.
I stepped into the hallway, Spooky was on his phone leaning against the opposite wall. He looked up from his phone and came towards me. “Hey, are you and Cris okay?” I asked as we stood in the hallway.
“No,” he said as he shoved his phone into his pants pocket. “We broke up because she cheated on me. I just don’t want to look at her. She ripped my heart out, I thought perhaps she was the one, but who ends up with their high school sweethearts forever?” he shrugged as we both began to walk in step down the hallway.
“The rare ones out there. I’m sorry for what happened. I thought that Tristan and I would have a life together after graduation, and he literally told me that we would. My heart is still healing, but I can’t be with him,” I sighed.
“Well, he realized his mistake and is willing to do anything to make it right. Perhaps you can give him a second chance. Everyone else knows about you two, so there isn’t anything holding you both back now,” he said.
“I can’t. He hurt me deeply,” I was not going to tell him about the miscarriage either. This is something that I will keep to myself until I am buried in my grave.
“Just hear him out. You two fit perfectly together, unlike Cris and me. We were odd.” he scoffed.
“I heard him, and it wasn’t good enough for me. I actually enjoy seeing him grovel this way. All the begging and doing whatever he could. It actually makes me feel kinda better,” I smiled.
“Well, if you are meant to be, he will always be there, and you will never get rid of him. Besides, if you find your way back to each other, then you know it’s meant to be. Don’t let what Maggie did to your relationship be the focus point. Do not even let the way that Tristan treated you also be the focus point. The man regrets it and he is feeling it. He lost his wife once and that took him ages to move on, and you are that person for him. Maggie was his mistake and no one is perfect. He is a good thing that happened to you. You both happened to each other. I believe that you can make it work again, but it’s up to you,” he said.
I felt those words, they were heartfelt, but did I really want to have him back so soon? Will we ever work out? I will be leaving home straight after graduation. Maybe being away will do me good and meet new people. Maybe then Tristan and I will find our way back to each other. “I don’t know if we will ever be together, and I think it’s for the best,” I said, heaviness clung to my heart just saying that.
“That’s your choice,” he shrugged. “So, Maggie is pregnant with my father’s child.”
“What?” I didn’t expect that.
“Yes, and now you can see the lies she will tell having her way. She wanted Tristan and that didn’t work because he is a clever man. Sucks that his doctor had given in for that hefty amount of money just to lie. I think he lost his license. Tristan didn’t play around because it caused him to lose someone and that is you,” he said, as he looked over at me with a faint smile on his face.
“Well, Maggie is one person that I wish not to see anymore. But are you back at your dad’s?” I asked, still avoiding the part where it seems like he was putting us back together again.
“No, Tristan came by the office at my father’s company, and then he offered to help me out with the hotel stay and everything else I needed.”
“Miss Everett, I need a word with you.” I looked at our school principal as we stopped in the admin section. I furrowed my brows, my heart leaping. His eyes fell behind us. “Mr Monroe, you too. In my office now,” he demanded.
I looked at Mr Monroe and then at Spooky. “I will wait for you.” Spooky gave me a faint smile.
“Thanks,” I returned the faint smile, and then I entered Mr Esau’s office after Mr Monroe.
I closed the door behind me and moved closer to the desk that Mr Esau stood behind. Mr Monroe had his laptop bag slung over one shoulder, and he was waiting to be told what this was about, but my heart was beating so fast in my chest. I know this is trouble.
“What is this?” Mr Esau placed his phone close to the edge of this desk and both Mr Monroe and I leaned forward to see what he was talking about, and just as I knew it was trouble...it was.
The photoshoot of us together and it was very inappropriate, looking from the school’s perspective.
