Piper’s POV
If someone were to ask me if was happy with how I felt at that moment, then the answer would be yes. The first time I met Jay, I thought he was the man I spent the night with seven years ago. His height, hair color, and eyes reminded me of the man from that night, the father of my twins.
Jensen and I were in Jay’s car. The four of us headed to the dock. Jay invited the two of us to go on a cruise. I knew the ticket price per person was very expensive.
On the one hand, I was lucky enough to get on a cruise and enjoy the beauty of the sea from the top of a ship that is famous for its luxury and has many five-star facilities. Even in my working life, I might not take Jensen on a cruise. However, for Jay, all this is not something expensive. It is easy for him to buy the cruise all at once. However, I was worried that this vacation would bring trouble for me because Megan liked Jay. I was just afraid she would do something bad to Jensen because of her jealousy.
Should I talk to Jay about this? I was sure Megan didn’t know about this vacation and she would know soon if she didn’t see Jay and Jessie at home. Ah, what a dilemma.
Jensen and I sat in the back passenger seat, while Jessie sat next to Jay. We honestly looked like a little family. Deep down inside, I wanted a moment like this, a moment where I spent time with my own happy little family.
However, it was all a dream. Jay is a rich and handsome man. There must be many women out there who liked and tried to get close to him. Besides, I didn’t know how he felt about Megan. It seemed impossible to have such a perfect man in my eyes. I’m just an ordinary woman, not rich, and already have a child. Could any man possibly want to be in a relationship with a woman like me? Just thinking about it made me sad.
If people asked me, did I have feelings for Jay? Umm, maybe. I was not too sure about my feelings. But, some time with him made me sure of one thing, which was that being around him made me comfortable. He is mature and open-minded. His friendly demeanor made me like him. However, I wasn’t sure about this feeling. I just didn’t dare to like him, who differs from me and richer because I was afraid of getting hurt.
But I couldn’t be selfish. Maybe Jensen was dreaming of the same thing as me. He said that he dreamed of a family just like his friends and he was tired of being thought of as a child without a father. He wanted to spend a wonderful time with a father who loved him.
When I heard his words, I burst into tears. Maybe for the past six years, I had lived in my world without thinking about Jensen’s feelings. I felt that my existence was enough for him, even though in reality it wasn’t. After all, he wanted a father figure who could share the world with him.
Sometimes I feel like I haven’t been a wonderful mother to him. It’s not that I didn’t want to be in a relationship with a man and get married. It’s just that I was afraid to get into a relationship. I was afraid of getting hurt and I didn’t know how to start a relationship.
Suddenly, a question woke me up from my reverie. I was quite surprised and became embarrassed by it.
“Piper, we’re here. Let’s get out,” Jay said.
“Mom, are you okay?” Jensen asked.
“Oh, ah, y-yes, I’m fine. Sorry, I was daydreaming,” I replied. I was sure my face turned red with embarrassment. Geez, how could I daydream without realizing my surroundings?
I saw Jay smiling and showing his row of white teeth. His smile was like a cupid’s arrow that directly hit my heart until it beat faster and my face turned red.
“Ok, I’ll bring our luggage. There will be a ship’s officer who will help me carry the luggage. You guys get off and get on the boat. Piper, here are our tickets,” Jay said as he handed me four tickets.
I got Jessie and Jensen out of the car. A ship’s officer approached us from a distance. He was a tall, thin-looking man in uniform. He smiled at us under his breath.
“Good morning, sir and madam. I will help you carry your luggage onto the ship,” he said as he helped Jay push two large suitcases.
“Ok, thank you,” I replied.
I took Jessie’s hand and Jensen walked leisurely towards the cruise that looked enormous and magnificent. I wasn’t dreaming, was I?
Long story short, we were already on the cruise. We were waiting for Jay to open the door to our room. He had booked two rooms with king-size beds.
“Ok, please come in,” he said.
I, Jessie, and Jensen walked into the room, and the splendor of the room mesmerized us. And one more thing, this room had a balcony overlooking the ocean. My God! That was what I’ve always dreamed of. Seeing and enjoying the night view of the sea.
“Oh, this is beautiful,” I said.
“Do you like it?” Jay asked as he closed the door.
“Yes,” I, Jessie, and Jensen answered.
“That’s great. And this room is for Piper and Jessie. Jensen and I will sleep in the room next door. What do you think?” Jay asked, as he looked at us one by one.
“Yes, Uncle. Let’s see our room,” Jensen invited Jay.
“Ok, ladies. Enjoy your relaxing time.” Then Jay and Jensen left the room.
Throughout the day, we had so many good times together that I forgot about the worries that had arisen this morning. We swam together, enjoyed lunch at a fancy restaurant together, and savored sumptuous food that I had never eaten before.
This cruise had a mall and a children’s playground. There were many luxurious restaurants on board with unique dishes.
On the first day, Jay took us to enjoy a lot of food that we had never encountered before. Then, we waited for the sunset by sitting on chairs that were deliberately placed in the ship's hallway. We chose the best spots. Jay brought his camera, and we took quite a few photos that day.
And without realizing it, we enjoyed the sunset while holding hands with the children positioned between me and Jay. After that, we went back to the room and lay down after a long day.
The next day, we took the kids to the playground after enjoying breakfast. In the afternoon, as we waited for the sunset while unwinding after a day of activities, Jay suddenly said, “Come with me somewhere. I have something to tell you.”
