Jay’s POV
The day I’d been waiting for so long had finally arrived. The day that Piper and I would become one and legitimate before God and everyone. I would introduce Piper and the kids to all my family, colleagues, and the community.
The dreams and hopes that I’d harbored for so long would soon come true. Finally, someone to keep me company at night. Cry, laugh, and grow old together.
Thank you, God, for the family you have given me.
A few days ago, I had also come to see Mom and asked her to come. I explained to her everything I knew about Martin and Karen. Karen had come to Mom’s house with me to fix the misunderstanding between them and apologize. But Mom still stood her ground and said nothing, so Karen and I went home to no avail. Luckily, Karen was very patient and willing to understand Mom’s situation.
When we delivered the invitation cards to Helen’s house, Piper and I specifically talked to Megan and apologized to her for everything that happened to the three of us, despite everything she had done to us.
At that moment, Megan apologized to us with a sincere look on her face. Hopefully, what we thought about her was right. However, all the evidence about Doctor Kevin’s death has yet to be found, even though we have an eyewitness to Megan swapping Jessie for a dead baby girl. So, it was a hard task for me, Nick, and the police to sort this out and untangle the loose threads.
I hope that on Piper and I’s happy day, all our burdens will be lifted so that we can enjoy the joy of marriage to the fullest.
And now my twins and I were ready to go to church and wait for Piper there.

Piper’s POV
Finally, this happy day arrived. For the past few days, I’d been staying at Mom’s apartment while the kids stayed with Jay.
Early in the morning, when the sun had just risen, I woke up and opened my eyes. The feeling of happiness filled me so much that I couldn't contain it anymore. So, I sat happily in front of the wedding dress I was going to wear..
My dream wedding dress. A ball gown studded with Swarovski gems makes the dress look more luxurious and looks exactly like a wedding dress in the story of royal princesses. I’ve always been a fan of royal princess stories since I was a little girl.
Next to the dress, there were white high heels that matched the wedding dress I had chosen. And on the dressing table, there was a bouquet of red roses that I would carry to the church altar.
All the wedding and reception equipment was one hundred percent ready. Jay had invited many people to the wedding reception. It felt thrilling. I hope this beautiful day went smoothly.
Like yesterday, I woke up and stared at the wedding dress in front of me for a long time until I heard Mom’s voice calling me to get up and have breakfast together.
“Piper, wake up. Let’s have breakfast together,” she invited.
The voice I’ve always longed for. I hurriedly got up and walked out of the room. I went toward Mom and kissed her cheek. “Good morning, Mom.”
“Good morning. Please sit down and eat. Then, take these vitamins,” she said.
That morning, we had breakfast together. It’s a breakfast I’ll always miss because after this we’ll be living separately and Mom will have breakfast alone. Although, I hadn’t lived in the apartment for a few months. It was sad to leave Mom alone.
When I see Mom putting food into her mouth, I imagine her eating alone with no one to accompany her. Doing everything by herself, even though sometimes Jay and I would come over or Lisa and Max would come over.
I touched her hand and said, “Mom, stay with us, so we can take care of you.”
Mom stopped chewing and swallowed her food, then took a tissue and wiped the food residue on the edge of her lips. “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry.”
“But.”
Mom sighed and touched my hand. “In a few hours, you will become a wife. Enjoy and live your marriage happily. You deserve happiness after all these years of suffering. I used to be alone long before I married your father. So, I’ll be fine. Lisa and Max come here often and we talk for a long time. Sometimes they even stay here for a night. That means a lot. Did you know that after school, Jansen and Jessie often come here and bring me cookies and other food?”
“Really? They never tell me anything. Every day?” I asked with wide eyes.
“Yes. You have wonderful children. Hurry and finish your breakfast because soon Lisa and Max will come to help you,” Mom said.
“Ok,” I replied as I stuffed a spoonful of food into my mouth.
Forty minutes later, when I was just getting out of the bathroom. Lisa and Max came over. Lisa helped me with my makeup, while Max would be the driver who would take us to the church.
After finishing my makeup and putting on my wedding dress, I stood in front of the standing mirror. I couldn’t believe that the reflection in front of me was me until my eyes started to tear up.
“Hey, it’s a special day. Why are you crying?” Lisa asked as she handed me some tissues.
“Thank you,” I replied.
“Don’t say thank you now. Remember our bet before you fell in love with Jay? Treat us to a vacation at the resort. How about it?” she asked with a sly smile.
“But resorts are expensive.”
“What? You’re the wife of the richest businessman in Valdirra. Even a year’s resort fee is like small money to Jay. Deal?” she asked.
“Oh okay. I’ll discuss this with Jay.”
“Forget about the resort for a moment. You’re finally married and I’m so proud of you,” Lisa said as she wiped away tears. She was crying too.
We hugged each other and held back the tears to keep them off our faces and ruin our makeup.
Suddenly, Max knocked on the door. “Ladies, are you ready? One more hour and the show will start.”
“Yes, we’re ready,” Lisa replied.
We rushed and got into the white limousine that Jay had specially provided for our wedding day. Max drove the car to the church in the city center. Luckily, there was no traffic on the highway that day, so we made it to the church on time.
Arriving at the church, two event organizer staff opened the car door and directed us to wait in front of the main hall entrance until we heard the signal from the staff inside the main hall and then I could go inside.
I stood in front of the door, Lisa stood behind me while smoothing the tail of my wedding dress and Mom stood behind Lisa, accompanied by Max.
