Piper’s POV
The door to the main hall was still closed. I stood at the door holding the bucket of red roses with trembling hands and a slightly cold sweat. It was a special day for me and Jay. We would become one and legitimate before God and everyone. Jansen would finally have the Adams surname behind his name, but most of all, he would finally have the father he’d always wanted.
“Piper, don’t be nervous. Relax and take a deep breath,” Lisa said.
I turned to her and smiled. “You always make me smile. Thank you.”
“After the reception, I have a surprise for the newlyweds,” she said.
“Umm, I hope your surprise isn’t weird.”
“Hahaha, it’s not weird. I’m sure you’ll love it,” she replied while still laughing out loud.
Suddenly, a staff from the event organizer approached us and he told me I could go inside now. He asked me and the others to get ready. My two twins were ready in the room to be flower girl and boy.
“Everyone ready?” a male staff member asked.
“Yes,” we all replied.
And the door to the main hall opened. Before I knew it, all the pews were filled and all the guests’ eyes were on me, causing my palms to break out in a cold sweat and my heart to beat faster.
Calm down, Piper. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.
As my feet stepped into the room, the wedding song played. Jansen and Jessie walked ahead of me as they throwing flowers into the air. Endorphins spread throughout my body, delivering happiness so that my lips continued to paint a smile.
I continued to walk towards the altar while returning the smiles of the guests who were there. Then, I saw the handsome Jay in all white standing near the priest. Beside him stood Austin and Jordan, Jay’s best friends.
Austin Kennedy is a famous doctor at one of the largest hospitals in Valdirra. While Jordan Brown is the CEO of Brown Company, and the third richest man in Valdirra. I saw Austin carrying a blue box containing a wedding ring.
My eyes and Jay’s eyes met, and our lips exchanged smiles. Until the moment I walked down the red carpet, I still felt like it was all a dream. Although it all started with pain, now the pain has paid off.
In front of me stood a man who would soon become my husband. A husband who will accompany my nights, comfort me when I’m sad, laugh when I’m happy, and grow old together.
Thank you, God, for this beautiful thing you’ve given me.
I took Jay’s hand, and we walked together to the altar. We knelt before the priest, who would soon bless us and pronounce us husband and wife.
“I take you, Piper Smith, to be my wife, to have and to hold from henceforth and forevermore. In times of trouble and joy, in times of health and sickness, to love and cherish one another till death do us part, according to the holy law of God, and these are my solemn vows,” Jay said.
“Piper Smith, do you accept Jay Lee Adams to be your husband?” the pastor asked.
“Yes, I do,” I replied. Then Austin stood in the middle of us and handed me the blue box that contained two gold rings.
Jay took a ring that had his name, and the date of our wedding engraved on it. Then, he put the ring on the ring finger of my left hand.
“I take you, Jay Lee Adams, to be my husband to have and to hold from now till eternity. In times of trouble and joy, in times of health and sickness, to love and cherish each other till death do us part, according to the holy law of God, and these are my solemn vows,” I said.
“Jay Lee Adams, do you accept Piper Smith to be your wife?” the pastor asked.
“Yes, I do,” Jay replied. Then, I took a larger ring with my name and the date of our wedding engraved on the inside and put it on the ring finger of Jay’s left hand.
“You are now legally husband and wife. You can kiss the bride now,” the priest said. Then Jay hugged and pulled my body close to him and kissed my lips gently. After that, Jay and I stood up. We turned around to face the guests and raised our hands with the rings on them, accompanied by applause.
Jay and I looked at each other and smiled. Jansen and Jessie ran up to the altar and hugged us both. The happiness I felt was hard to put into words. I didn’t think any words can represent all the beautiful things in my life.
Jay, Jansen, and Jessie are God’s endless blessings to me.
Then, the four of us came down from the altar and greeted the guests. Then, some of the event organizer staff asked us to walk out of the main hall to the church field. Me, Jay, the twins, walked out of the main hall together.
On the field, a staff stood holding many colorful balloons, and another staff held a pair of doves. Then, the staff directed us to stand right in the center of the field and hold the balloons while waiting for the signal that we could fly the balloons into the air.
The signal was given. Jay and I immediately released the balloons into the air. Jansen and Jessie cheered happily as they looked up at the blue sky. The families and guests who witnessed this clapped and cheered too.
Next, the staff asked us to fly the pigeons. Jay and I each held a dove. The process was the same; we were asked to wait for the signal until we could fly the pigeon into the air.
And the signal was given. Jay and I immediately released the pigeons into the air. The sound of applause and cheers from the families and guests accompanied the pigeons as they flew high into the air.
Jay and I held hands, wishing our marriage to be full of happiness, peace, and love.
The next procession was the wedding reception at a five-star hotel. One by one, the families and guests went to the hotel. So did me and Jay. The difference was Jansen and Jessie accompanied us in the car.
A few minutes later, Jay and I, accompanied by the twins, stood in front of the ballroom door waiting for the signal from the event organizer’s staff before we could enter the party room.
“Piper, are you ready for the party?” Jay asked.
“Yes,” I replied.
“I have a surprise for you,” Jay said.
