Piper’s POV
“Really? I can’t wait to find out what the surprise is,” I replied.
“Yes, wait and be patient. It looks like we’re allowed to enter,” Jay said.
And sure enough, two staff members from the event organizer invited us to enter the ballroom. The large and magnificent ballroom doors opened. I saw many guests had gathered and their eyes were staring at us.
According to the order of events, Vanessa and my mom were supposed to walk first in the front row. It’s just that I hadn’t seen her since the ceremony at the church. I was both happy and sad. We had done everything we could to melt her heart so that she would come to our special once-in-a-lifetime event, but she had remained adamant. I didn’t understand her, and I didn’t know what else I could do to make her willingly accept me as part of her family.
So, my mom walked into the ballroom accompanied by Lisa and Max. They both held Mom’s hand. Austin and Jordan walked behind Mom, after which Jansen and Jessie followed behind them. Finally, Jay and I entered the ballroom.
The romantic wedding music was playing as we entered the ballroom one by one. The guests’ eyes were fixed on us. Two MCs acted on stage, along with the cameramen and videos. Among the crowd of guests, I saw Nick, Ken, and Lily standing and smiling at us.
Jay and I walked towards the stage hand in hand. Jansen and Jessie joined my mom in standing among the guests. So did Lisa, Max, Austin, and Jordan.
After standing on the stage, Jay said a few words of welcome and thanks to the guests, followed by drinking champagne together. After that, the MC directed us to cut the wedding cake in the shape of a palace. There were me and Jay’s initials in the center of the cake.
Throughout the event, happiness overwhelmed me. A smile never left my lips. My eyes sparkled and my face shone with happiness.
A lavish wedding party that I never even imagined and dreamed of. However, Jay made it all happen. He made my wishes come true. Starting from the ballroom decoration that resembles a garden that is usually found in a palace. Then, the luxurious palace-shaped wedding cake, complete with all the trinkets. The famous group of musicians who played romantic music made the atmosphere more beautiful and warm. MCs and famous singers that I used to see on television. The sumptuous dishes are provided especially for the guests that will never be found in ordinary restaurants. Only a five-star hotel would have such luxurious dishes for our wedding party.
All of that wasn’t enough. Jay also prepared many door prizes for the guests and also events that will take place throughout the party, such as dancing, singing, and games. Ah, it was amazing. We were like kings and queens for a day.
All eyes were on us from head to toe. The guests whispered admiringly about our performance and the extravagance of the party until it felt like I could hear their admiration in my ears.
Finally, we reached the middle of the event. The MC invited Jay and me to dance, followed by the guests who danced in the center of the ballroom. Meanwhile, the guests who didn’t dance went around the ballroom to eat the food that had been provided.
Jansen and Jessie danced beside us as they occasionally burst out laughing, making me and Jay laugh too. Meanwhile, Max invited Mom to dance, even though Mom kept refusing. As for Lisa, she’s the idol of the single men, but she seemed to have made her choice on Jordan. I saw them dancing next to Mom and Max, and it seemed like they were in love with each other. I hope it was true because Jay and I were sure they’ll make a great couple.
I wrapped my arms around Jay’s waist and rested my head on his chest. Jay also hugged my waist while kissing my forehead a few times.
“Piper, thank you for coming into my life and making today so special,” Jay said.
I looked up and stared into his beautiful blue eyes, as beautiful as the ocean. “Thank you also for coming into my life and treating me like a queen.”
“Oh, you just said that you have a surprise for me. When is the surprise coming out?” I asked curiously.
“Ah, right now. Close your eyes,” he pleaded. I immediately closed my eyes and couldn’t wait to find out the surprise he had prepared.
“I’m leaving for a while to prepare for the surprise. You wait here with the twins, okay?” he asked.
“Okay, go. Don’t worry.”
“Jansen, Jessie, hold my hand,” I asked the twins. So they took my hand, Jansen on the left, Jessie on the right.
I heard the music still playing and felt the surrounding people still dancing even though I could hear their whispers questioning my state of standing in the middle of the dance floor while closing my eyes.
A few minutes later, I heard the footsteps of several people walking toward me, which made me even more curious until I wanted to open my eyes.
And finally, the footsteps stopped right in front of me.
“Now open your eyes,” Jay pleaded.
I heard Jansen and Jessie whispering to each other. My heart was beating quite fast because of my curiosity.
I slowly opened my eyes and I couldn’t say anything. My eyes were wide open, my mouth was gaping and my mind kept asking, “Am I dreaming?”
“No, you’re not dreaming. I’m sorry, Piper.”
“Don’t apologize. I should be the one apologizing,” I replied.
“No, you’re not wrong. I should be happy that you made me to be a grandmother,” Vanessa said.
Yes, the surprise Jay was talking about was Vanessa coming to our wedding. What a wonderful gift. Vanessa grabbed my hand, staring as she continued to apologize.
Thank God. This was amazing.
I had given up hope and thought that Vanessa would never come to the party, but I was so wrong that tears streamed down my face unconsciously.
“Don’t cry, Piper. It’s your special day,” Vanessa said as she wiped my wet eyes.
“Thanks, Mom.”
“I want to dance with my grandkids. Is that okay?” she asked.
“Yes,” Jay and I replied.
Jansen and Jessie immediately grabbed Vanessa’s hand and asked her to dance. Suddenly, the guests clapped and some of them went right back to dancing.
“Jay, thank you,” I said.
“Thank me later tonight,” he replied in a whisper.
“You mean us?”
“Yes, we’ll make love all night and I’ve got everything ready,” he said with a sly smile.
