Araceli POV
She laughed out loud, full of eeriness and hostility.
I settled down and looked over at Micah.
Micah seemed to be unconscious.
I gritted my teeth, resisting the urge to pounce on Melany and kill her, and kept waking Micah up with mind-link.
Suddenly, a miracle appeared.
Micah's eyes snapped open.
He looked towards me, his gaze becoming very complicated in this instant.
Seeing Micah open his eyes, I breathed a sigh of relief.
I raised my eyes and stared coldly at Melany, saying word for word, "Do you realize what you're doing is stupid?"
"Araceli, you're still a bitch! You said yesterday that you would help me keep this secret, but today Raphael knows!" Melany sneered, "He hates me so much now that he can't wait to break me into pieces. Aren't you so proud of yourself? But let me tell you, I won't let you have your way! If I die, I'll let Micah die with me. I'll make you and Raphael live in remorse for the rest of your lives!"
Melany finished and choked Micah.
Micah was instantly strangled and gasped hard, looking in pain.
Melany laughed, "Micah, your daddy did this to me before! Doesn't that taste particularly bad?"
"Melany, get off him!"
I was so angry my heart hurt.
I just stepped forward and Melany took a step back, always keeping her distance from me.
"Stay back!" Melany laughed, "I'm afraid I won't be able to resist strangling the boy."
Her voice was such a vicious coldness.
"I'll do anything you want me to do if you'll just leave Micah alone."
I said slowly, "I know you actually hate me. Whatever you hate, you can take it out on me. It has nothing to do with Micah."
At my words, Micah was stunned.
"Will you really do anything I tell you to do?"
Melany's eyes glow grimly in the darkness.
I nodded calmly. "Only if you leave Micah alone."
"I will spare Micah if you do what I say."
Melany rubs at Micah's hair and laughs softly, "Araceli, I'll give Micah back to you if you kill yourself."
Her gaze, cut across my face.
It was like a knife, it wanted to pluck the flesh from my face.
Melany pulls a knife from her bag and tosses it over.
"I'm not that patient."
Light shines through the window opening, reflecting grimly on the knife.
I pick the knife up off the floor.
I raised my eyes and asked in a slow voice, "You'll let Micah go as long as I destroy my face, right?"
"Stop wasting time by deliberately dawdling!"
Melany growled impatiently.
I brought the fruit knife up in my hand and slowly brought it closer to my neck.
"Don't..."
Micah shuddered.
I smiled, "Micah, close your eyes."
I tried my best to hold back the tears, but they burst out of my eyes uncontrollably.
Micah trembles her lips and asks, "Araceli is mine and Essel's real mother, isn't she?"
Melany laughed out loud, "Micah, you sure are smart. Unfortunately, as smart as you are, you've been fooled by me for five years!"
Melany's laughter came to an abrupt end. She looked at me with cold anger.
"If you don't do it then I'm going to have to kill Micah!"
I had to turn my back when I saw Micah's eyes remain wide open.
I raised the knife and was about to stab myself in the neck when suddenly, a blinding headlight shot over.
The car door was kicked open violently. A tall figure walked in quickly from the factory entrance.
As soon as he came in, the temperature in the surrounding area dropped in vain, as if there was a big invisible net spreading out in the sky above, pressuring me to gasp for air.
Melany grabbed Micah and kept backing away. "Stay back, Raphael, stay back or I'll kill Micah, your son!"
Raphael stood at my side and lifted his hand and snatched the knife from my hand.
"I'll save my son on my own, I don't need your hand."
His voice was cold, but I managed to hear a hint of warmth in such a voice.
I pursed my lips and whispered, "Melany has gone crazy."
"I know. You stand aside. Leave everything to me."
Raphael shielded me.
Melany gripped Micah's neck harder.Micah let out another muffled grunt of pain.
"Raphael!" yelled Melany, "I've come this far. I wouldn't have thought to leave myself a way out! You can either kill Araceli or let me kill Micah. take your pick!"
Raphael sneered, "What if I choose neither?"
"Then I'll have to make the choice for you."
Melany picked Micah up and pinched her nails into Micah's delicate neck. "Me dying with Micah would be a good choice, wouldn't it?"
I noticed that Raphael's hand slowly made its way toward his hindquarters.
I remembered with a jolt that Raphael had a gun!
Melany said in a shaky voice, "Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you have a gun. If I push hard enough, Micah's neck will be severed by me! You can bet on it."
The knife pressed against Micah's neck and made a bloody cut. The blood ran down Micah's neck, very noticeable in the harsh headlights.
In my haste, I took a few more steps forward.
Raphael took my hand and held the pistol out.
He tossed it forward and said calmly, "And?"
Melany scanned the pistol on the ground and tugged on Micah, moving slowly towards the gun.
At this moment...
Raphael surged forward and reached over toward Micah.
He yanked hard on the back of Micah's collar, then pulled.
Melany is stunned, snapping to attention...
I rolled over, grabbed my pistol, and aimed it at Melany.
"Freeze."
Micah nestles into Raphael's arms, panting heavily. He looks up at me as if he's been robbed of his life.
Just then, Melany turned into a wolf and charged at Micah, opening her bloody mouth.
Her sharp claws were about to slit Micah and Raphael's throats.
I closed my eyes and pressed the trigger.
The bullet breaks through.
Two shots later, Melany fell.
There was a solemn silence around me.
I quickly regained my composure.
Melany was only shot in the thigh. Blood kept spreading out from her thigh. She turned back into a human and her eyes were thick with hate.
I stepped forward, put the gun on my back, pressed Melany's hands, and pinned her to the ground.
Melany let out a scream.
"Let go of me! You bitch. Let go of me! I won't let you go! I'll kill you..."
I ripped off a piece of cloth and gagged Melany.
"You're making too much noise."
The siren of a police car sounded outside.
It was the police coming.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Raphael, thank you..."
If it wasn't for Raphael, I would never have gotten out of there today.
