Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 12 How About This Month?

Ch. 12 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

A knock on the door shattered my thoughts, and Jeremy's voice echoed, "Alpha Kingsley, Mrs. Wright has arrived with your lunch."

I paused briefly, then responded with a frigid tone, "Show her in."

Jeremy escorted her into the room, carefully placing her belongings on the desk before discreetly retreating, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.

Freya nervously clasped her hands, awkwardly rooted to the spot. I raised my gaze towards her.

The sun's rays streamed through the blinds, casting shifting shadows upon her face.

She was a breathtaking vision of beauty. Dressed in a simple yet stylish ensemble, she effortlessly exuded a timeless charm. Her radiant smile illuminated the room, infusing it with warmth and joy.

With flowing tresses of glossy, cascading hair that framed her flawless countenance, she exuded an air of refinement and grace. Her eyes, akin to sparkling jewels, possessed a captivating magnetism, drawing people into their depths.

I must confess that she possessed a captivating countenance that appealed to my sense of beauty. No matter how often I gaze upon it, my heart can scarcely contain its fluttering.

"Are you simply going to stand there?" I asked with feigned indifference, suppressing the emotions stirring within me.

Reluctantly, Freya approached and whispered, "You promised me earlier."

Upon hearing this, I gazed at her silently. With her plain and unadorned appearance and lowered brows, she seemed unchanged, but I knew it was all a facade.

She was no longer the attractive rabbit she used to be; she had transformed into a wild cat that would lash out at the slightest provocation.

Leaning back, I narrowed my eyes, adopting a lazy expression, and raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What did I promise?"

Freya froze, unable to believe that I would deny it. Gritting her teeth, she said, "You said you would take care of this matter for me as long as I accompanied you to your family dinner."

"It seems I did," I replied, as if remembering just then.

Freya was about to breathe a sigh of relief when I continued, "However, upon careful consideration, since we are getting rejected from each other, there is no reason for me to accept such an expensive gift from your father. Let's forget about it."

Freya was clearly taken aback.

"It's not that expensive," Freya tried to convince me. "Besides, if we end things amicably, we can still be friends in the future, so exchanging gifts between friends should be fine, don't you think?"

I chuckled. "Are we ending things amicably? Isn't it because I cannot fulfill my marital duties, and you're unsatisfied, so you want a rejection?"

Freya blushed and touched her nose in embarrassment.

She was about to argue, but I interjected, "This morning, the male reproductive clinic called me for a telephone consultation. They asked about my sexual dysfunction. Why didn't you, as the one experiencing it, describe it in detail to the doctor?"

It seemed that she had long forgotten that she made an appointment with an andrologist at the men's hospital for me, and I knew she tried to vent her anger at me in that way.

Freya chuckled dryly twice and said, "Alpha Kingsley, can we discuss something else first?"

I stood up and walked around the desk, leaning over it. I raised my eyes and smiled at her, saying, "Diminished libido?"

Freya fell silent.

"Erectile dysfunction?" I continued, curling my lips. "Or perhaps the issue is that our intimate encounters don't last long enough? What exactly made my Luna so unhappy that she deliberately set me up with a specialist?"

Freya took an awkward, deep breath and replied, "Alpha Kingsley, we're getting divorced anyway, so there's no point in dwelling on this, is there?"

"It's absolutely necessary," I interrupted, sweeping her off her feet. "How can I agree with your stated reasons for the rejection without understanding this?"

Freya sighed and compromised, "If you don't agree with that reason, let's change it to another one—character incompatibility or alienation of mutual affection."

I lifted my gaze. "Alienation of mutual affection, and you're still preparing me the meal, my Luna?"

"Alpha Kingsley, it's..." she began.

"Oh, and sending me your private photos." I clicked my phone and waved it in front of her eyes, revealing the picture she had just taken downstairs in front of the Wright Group.

She knew I wouldn't let her go upstairs, so she had removed her jacket and posed in a slim white one-shoulder hip dress.

She took a close-up and sent it to me, asking if I could share the photo on Twitter.

She thought it would tarnish the image of the Wright Group and embarrass me. Little did she know that her ploy, however, served as proof that I claimed our relationship hadn't reached its breaking point yet.

She clenched her teeth and uttered, "Alpha Kingsley, can we discuss something grave? Like when will we proceed with our vowing of rejection?"

I coldly retorted, "Freya, I gave you an opportunity, but it was you who failed to show up."

"I was on the way that day, but an unforeseen circumstance arose..."

"What was it?"

Freya tightly pursed her lips, remaining silent for a few seconds before speaking again, "We can arrange another appointment. You choose the time, and I will comply."

I gazed at her for a few moments and responded casually, "I must remind you that once the vowing of rejection is finalized, everything you possess as my Luna will cease to exist. Despite this, do you still intend to proceed with that?"

Freya's expression grew increasingly hardened, revealing her hesitation.

After a while, she sorrowfully uttered, "I do not care."

My eyes sank.

"When should we proceed with that?" She even displayed impatience.

I glanced at her and replied, "When I find the time."

"And when will that be?"

I leaned back in my office chair, not bothering to look at her, and coolly stated, "I will inform you when I am available."

"And when might that be?" Freya quickly inquired.

I raised my gaze, a touch of impatience evident, "What is your rush? Do you believe I am intentionally delaying the vowing to spite you, Freya? You overestimate your own allure."

After speaking, I completely ignored her, opening the meal box and proceeding to eat my meal alone.

Freya, seemingly exasperated by my patience, anxiously exclaimed, "You promised to reject me if I attended your family dinner with you. I have fulfilled all my promises, so who do you think you are, deceiving me!"

Observing her unleash her fierce nature, my brow furrowed momentarily.

I picked up my fork and lightly tapped the lunchbox beside me, "Freya, you desire a rejection from me yet wish to conceal it from Theo, continuing our relationship in his presence. Such a fortunate outcome does not exist in this world."

Freya was left speechless, confirming my suspicions that she had no intention of informing Theo about that so soon.

"How about making the announcement a year after we finalize the vowing of rejection?" she proposed, persisting in her questioning.

I glared at her, my expression gloomy, and remained silent.

In a hushed voice, Freya whispered, "Do you think a year is too long? Perhaps eight months?"

My eyes had already turned cold.

"Then six months? It's too short, but it'll do," she grudgingly asked.

Through gritted teeth, I warned Freya, "If you continue to pester me, I swear I'll throw you off this ledge!"

Freya fell silent, keeping her lips sealed.

After a brief moment of quiet, Freya whispered once again, "Then how about this month?"
