Annette clenched her fists. Without any proof, it was true that she couldn't prove herself innocent.
Melvin said unhappily, "Enough. Annette, you're fired. I will call the Finance Department later. Go there, get your pay, and don't come back tomorrow."
Annette looked up at him.
"I'm not convinced. Why should I leave?" Annette said.
Amanda said, "Annette did nothing wrong. Mr. Horton, this is unfair."
"Who calls the shots in the Training Department? Me or you?" Melvin said impatiently.
Just as Melvin finished speaking, a cold voice sounded from the door of the office, "Since when do the department heads call the shots in my company?"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone looked over.
When Connor appeared, the entire office was silent.
Annette glanced at Connor, and then she quickly looked away and shifted her gaze to Amanda.
Annette figured that Amanda had gone to Connor for help.
Yet to her surprise, Connor would come down to deal with it personally.
Connor's gaze swept over everyone.
Looking at Connor, Melvin hurriedly walked forward. "Mr. Norman, I didn't expect you to be here?"
"Really? So, why do you think I'm here?" Connor said coldly.
Connor pulled Annette's chair over and sat down.
Annette hurriedly took a few steps back, keeping her distance from him.
Melvin looked at Thea and said, "Get some coffee for Mr. Norman."
Just as Thea was about to move, Connor immediately said, "No need. I'm not here for coffee."
He pointed at Amanda. "Tell me what you think about the thing you've just told me."
Melvin was stunned. He thought, 'Amanda is briefing directly to Mr. Norman?
How could she get to talk to Mr. Norman? Do they know each other?'
Everyone present looked at Amanda, too.
No one knew that Amanda had such a backer.
At the same time, Thea was also surprised.
Amanda glanced at Thea and said, "Mr. Norman, I didn't know whether Annette talked behind people's backs. After all, I wasn't there back then. However, when it comes to talking behind people's backs, everyone knows that Thea is the one who does it the most."
She looked at the people around and said, "Everyone, raise your hand if you haven't been spoken ill of by Thea."
Not a hand was raised in the office.
Thea was anxious. She said hysterically, "When have I ever spoken ill of you? Don't think that you can smear me, just because Mr. Norman is here. I won't admit to something I didn't do."
Curtis, who was enjoying the show, said, "Thea, the fact that you bullied us won't go away, simply because you refused to admit it. Half a month ago, I went to give a lecture with other colleagues. We were supposed to get to the destination by the company's car, yet you took it by saying that you were going to eat with Mr. Horton."
"Curtis, what nonsense are you talking about?" Melvin said unhappily. "When did I eat with Thea?"
"Mr. Horton, we don't know who she went to eat with. Anyway, that was what she said at the time."
Thea pointed at Curtis and scolded, "Curtis, stop twisting the knife. Do you think people don't know? You have a crush on this temp, so you defend her all the time."
Curtis shrugged and said, "Thea, it's my business who I have a crush on. Say whatever you want, but I'm telling the truth."
Connor leered at Curtis, who was in the crowd.
Meanwhile, Amanda secretly glanced at Connor.
Connor withdrew his gaze. He did not look at Annette behind him, who looked concerned.
"Are you saying that this woman took advantage of the company's public resources for some private reason?" Connor asked.
"Yes." Curtis nodded.
Amanda seemed to have thought of something. She went to her desk, opened the drawer, found a document, and handed it to Connor.
"Mr. Norman, this is the evidence I have collected about Thea's embezzlement and appropriation of company resources at work."
Connor took the document and looked through it.
Thea swallowed nervously and looked at Melvin for help.
Yet Melvin just glanced at her and shook his head at her.
Connor sneered coldly and threw the document to Melvin. Then Connor said, "Look at what your staff has done. Tell me how you want to handle this."
Melvin took the document respectfully and looked at it. He was furious as he read it.
He thought, 'Damn you, Amanda. How dare you do these things behind my back?'
"Mr. Norman, this incident is indeed going to have a bad impact, and Thea's behavior is a serious violation of the company's policies. So, I suggest docking her wages for three months. Is that OK?" Melvin asked tentatively.
Connor's eyes turned cold. He snorted and said, "Melvin, I don't think you want to be working here anymore."
Melvin quickly said, "I'm sorry. I didn't think it through. I'll call the Personnel Department right away and have them give Thea a termination notice."
Thea's legs went weak, and she stumbled back. "Mr. Horton," she pleaded.
Melvin glared at her and said, "Shut up! You have caused so much damage to the company, and you're cheeky enough to stay here. Get the heck out of here right now."
Thea glared at Amanda, and then she turned back to her seat and packed her things.
Connor got up and looked at Amanda. "Come to my office."
"Alright, Mr. Norman."
Connor did not glance at Annette during the time.
Annette breathed a sigh of relief secretly.
Amanda turned her head to look at Annette and smiled. After that, she turned and left with Connor.
As soon as they left, the whole office was in an uproar.
Melvin stomped his foot angrily and turned back to his office.
Thea packed up her things and entered Melvin's office.
Not long after, a sound of squabble came through the office.
Half a minute later, Thea came out crying. She returned to her seat and left the office with her stuff.
After a moment of hesitation, Annette stood up and walked out.
