Fatty Betty's Diary: My Bully's Crush

Lines Blur

Ch. 132 / 251 Mar 20, 2026

The glow of the desk lamp was the only light in the room, casting a warm halo over Betty’s textbooks and notes scattered across the surface. The house was quiet, the muffled hum of the refrigerator and the occasional creak of the walls were the only sounds besides the scratch of her pen on paper.

Marcus sat across from her, leaning back in his chair with his legs stretched out in front of him, one ankle crossed over the other. He wasn’t studying—he never did—but he hadn’t left either, content to watch her work.

Betty tried to ignore him, but the weight of his gaze was impossible to miss.

"You know," Marcus said, "you could just admit you like having me around."

"I like silence more," she said without taking her eyes off her notes.

His laugh was low and soft, the kind that sent a faint flutter through her chest no matter how much she tried to ignore it.

"Sure you do," he said.

The quiet stretched between them again, but this time it felt heavier, charged with something unspoken. Betty kept her head down, pretending to be engrossed in the words on the page in front of her.

"You’re the only person who doesn’t care about the mess I am," Marcus said suddenly, his voice quieter now, more serious. "That scares the hell out of me."

The confession made her pen pause mid-stroke. Slowly, Betty lifted her eyes to meet his, her heart beating just a little faster.

"Maybe I don’t care about your mess because I have my own," she said softly, the words slipping out before she could stop them.

Marcus leaned forward in his chair, his arms resting on the table as he studied her face.

"Then maybe," he murmured, "we’re exactly what each other needs."

Her breath hitched as he reached out, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. The touch was light, fleeting, but it sent a warmth spreading through her chest. She couldn’t look away, caught in the intensity of his gaze.

"You’re impossible," she whispered.

"And you’re stubborn," he countered, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Guess we’re even."

The distance between them felt smaller now, the rest of the world fading away until it was just the two of them in the soft glow of the lamplight.

"Marcus," she started, but whatever she was going to say was lost when he leaned closer, his forehead nearly brushing hers.

"Tell me to stop," he said quietly, his voice barely audible.

Betty didn’t move, her chest rising and falling as she struggled to sort through the chaos of her feelings. But she didn’t say a word.

Marcus’s lips met hers in a gentle, tentative kiss, testing the fragile moment. Betty hesitated for only a second before kissing him back, her hand brushing against his cheek. It was slow and tender, as if they both knew the weight of what they were stepping into.

When they pulled apart, their breaths mingled in the quiet space between them. Betty’s hand lingered against his face, her thumb brushing his jaw.

"Well," she murmured, her voice shaky but laced with a faint smile, "this is only going to further complicate things."

Marcus chuckled softly, his forehead resting against hers. "Complicated is my specialty, Betty."
