Mira's POV
" What's with these hot boys, Mira. I thought you were like me. But you seem to be like so 'happening'. "
Stella's nose zoomed in, in front of my eyes.
I was lying on the grass, at the campus. The lawn was at the back, so I was just trying to get some fresh air, privately.
The day was lost, trying to explain the incident at the police station. Our principal, Braze's mom, got involved and things took a little time to settle down. I got dragged into the spotlight, along with him, for no reason.
I was trying to peacefully watch the white butterfly hover all around me.
These things never seemed odd, like the thunder whenever I was sad or the butterfly, whenever I was anxious. It was what I was used to, ever since I was a baby. What I wasn't used to, was Stella.
She shoved me so hard that my poor butterfly flew away.
" Come on. Tell me Mira. What's your secret? "
" Leave that girl alone."
I pulled my head up to look at who was speaking. It was my roommate.
She was towering over both of us.
" Razzak! Why are you here? Do you know Mira? "
Stella asked.
My roommate or Razzak, whatever her name was, gave me a hand and I immediately took it to get up.
" Yeah! I know her. She is my roommate. Now know your limits and bug off. "
Stella made a face at her but smiled at me.
" Ok. See ya! "
When she was well out of the hearing range, Razzak turned to me and whispered,
" She is from my school. Not the same class but I have heard tales about her. She is the biggest leech. You must look out for her. "
She immediately moved away after giving that advise,
" I mean it's just advice , you are free to make your own decision. It's not like we are best of friends or even know each other that well. "
We were walking back together, in silence.
The roads were already deserted even though it wasn't that late in the night.
Out of nowhere, a masked bike rider came to Razzak and snatched her bag.
" Oh my god! Thief.... It's a thief. Help! Police! "
We turned instinctively and began running after the bike, which was impossible but we were expected to give up without even trying.
"Not on my watch maroon! "
A figure appeared in a black leather jacket and with one single kick, was able to topple the rider.
The bike crashed on a lamp post and the rider flew to the side of the road.
The figure in that leather jacket picked Razzak's bag and walked towards us to return it.
" Thank you so much... "
Razzak was showering him with one blow after another.
My eyes were fixed on him.
He was smiling at me.
" I refuse to believe this was just a coincidence. "
He acknowledged Razzak's gratitude but then turned towards me.
" Do you live here as well? "
I couldn't believe it either.
Why was my other savior here as well?
Things could not be going more abnormally.
" No, I don't. I came here on business. What about you? I see you are in school uniform... "
" I came here as an exchange student. I will be here for a couple of weeks. "
He smiled again. That smile completely changed his facial features. He looked angelic, not rugged anymore.
" Maybe we will see each other around then. Where are you going at this time? "
He looked at his watch.
" We are going back to our hostel. "
Razzak answered.
" Let me walk you ladies to your destination then. "
And just like that, we began following him as he led the way.
It would have been alright if the day ended at this juncture, but no.
Life was literally on a rollercoaster ride at that moment.
When we reached the gates to our hostel, I found Kian waiting there.
His eyes lit up when he saw me but then the moment he saw my other savior, his eyes frowned.
He literally ran up to me and grabbed my arm.
" What are you doing with this guy Mira? "
His voice was very concerned.
" It's none of your business, rich boy! "
My other savior replied .
"Shut up Xen! I wasn't taking to a sc* like you. I was talking with Mira here. "
I couldn't understand their dynamics but atleast I learnt his name.
" He... He is not a nice person to socialize with Mira. I have to insist here... "
Kian was persistent.
" Yeah! Go ahead. Tell her. Spill the beans. What was I again? An anti-social, a criminal? A misfit? Damn, rich boy. I wish I could pull you out of that little bubble of yours and pop your protective shell, delusional existence... "
It looked like Xen was fighting hard, his urge to not knock Kian off with his head. Their faces were this close to touching each other.
" Please, you two, I had a rough day already.... don't fight.... not here... "
I had my hands on both of their arms, trying to pull them apart when suddenly my eyes found another place for attention.
I could see Braze. He was looking at me from inside a car, parked just opposite to the hostel gate.
His eyes were focused on me. But as soon as our eyes met, he got pulled inside. I could see it was a girl's hand. It took me just a fraction of a second to understand that it was that blondie, Betty.
What was Braze doing with Betty in a car at this time of the night?
"Okay fine. Suit yourselves... "
Xen's voice pulled my attention back.
He shoved Kian away and walked away towards the direction he had come from, adjusting his jacket as he walked.
