Braze's POV
" Stop. Please stop. Please don't shout,I am not here to hurt you. I need help. "
I was trying to tell her through my gruff voice but my words drowned when I accidentally pressed the hot water button in the shower.
It didn't feel much when it fell on my back but the moment it touched her fair, naked skin, I could see scalding , instantly.
Nobody could blame her when she went out yelling again, and screaming as I fought hard to stop the water that had caused all the mayhem.
Within the next few seconds the guards were at the door, ringing her bell.
She grabbed her bathrobe and ran towards the door knob.
I don't know if it was the urgency of the situation or my new found abnormality, but I literally flew past her and held the doorknob before she could unlock the latch.
" I am not here to hurt you. "
This time I articulated perfectly. I fell on her feet but she jumped back, possibly thinking I was a perverted being.
I should have been faster than my body and told her more but she had already opened the door and the guards pinned me down with a tranquilizer behind my neck.
" Careful. He looks like he is just a kid. "
I could hear her voice with my eyes closed. The force was intense but the tranquilizer was supposed to have put me to sleep. I guess it wasn't working. All my muscles were working fine but I decided to play dead.
" You don't know what kids are capable of these days, ma'am. We have called the police. They will be here any moment. "
Police! That was the least I needed at the moment.
I sprang up on my feet as everybody screamed in their perfectly synchronized pitch.
" Look ma'am, I know you are scared but I came here because I needed your help. You seemed like the only one who could help me understand my problem. "
I could already hear the police sirens coming our way.
" I read your book. My symptoms are similar to what you are studying... "
But I didn't get to finish what I was saying. I was attacked from the back once again and then handcuffed.
But I was able to at least intrigue her curiosity.
She did come to the police station with me but she was not pressing any real charges like breaking in or something, against me.
I think she was more curious about my authenticity at that point.
I thought this was bad but it was worse when I found out Mira was my fellow exchange student.
What was she doing here? I had come to run away from her.
Yet we were sitting in the same car, side by side, in total silence as we were being dropped off to our school campus.
" This time , call my secretary and fix an appointment. Don't follow me back to my house. Alright? I am willing to hear your story, boy. "
I remembered what the vet told me when she gave me her card before we were dismissed after confirming my identity.I think her eyes had a different spark. I was lost in thought as I traced the edge of the card still in my pocket, but I couldn't miss Mira staring at me, from the side of her eyes.
I knew she wanted to say something or probably ask a couple of questions. But there was this invisible wall between us. A wall that I had voluntarily erected.
The minutes seemed like hours but I will not deny that I found peace in those moments that were stolen from reality.
I could breathe in her scent and feel the electricity that was omnipresent whenever we shared close proximity.
I felt like forgetting about everything and pulling Mira in my arms and begging for her forgiveness.
A part of me wanted to tell her about my problems, my difficulties. But I gulped my emotions down and clutched onto my car seat. I had to get a grip over myself.
I knew this phase was not temporary. I could not put her at risk for my selfish needs.
The car came to a jolting halt.
" Relax Braze, we reached Pamora High. Has being in my presence become so unbearable that you had to cling to the seat? What did I do wrong Braze? "
I knew her voice was about to crack but she turned around and huffed her way ahead. I let her.
I knew it was hard for her.
I saw a girl come running towards her and grab her arms as she kept looking back at me with curiosity.
It was good that she was already making friends. And then I saw this guy, staring at her from the second floor window and another blondie was watching him and Mira with a death stare. Mira looked up and smiled at the guy. He smiled back and asked her if everything was alright. The girl who was with Mira pointed at me and that was when, both our eyes met. It would be better to use the word clash.
There was this visible sign of hostility the moment we gazed at each other.
I didn't know if I would be able to find my answers but it seemed like fate had something planned. My stay there as the exchange student was definitely going to be eventful.
I went straight to the office because I was yet to register my name and get my class roster.
I was looking for my direction when I saw that blondie from earlier, casually walk towards me.
" Hey. You seem new here. Do you need help? Are you lost? "
She smiled as she came right beside me. She didn't look that friendly when she was staring Mira down.
I actually needed help with the direction so I couldn't turn down her offer anyway.
" Hi, I am Brave. I am an exchange student here. "
" Hi, You can call me Betty. "
And that was how it all started.
