Chapter 52: Discovering The Truth

Ch. 52 / 153 Dec 06, 2025

Valentine Anderson, while awaiting the test results, was visibly restless and anxious. He found it impossible to sit still, opting instead to lean against the wall and tap his shoe incessantly on the marble floor.

Mark, who had been by Valentine's side for five years, knew him well enough to understand that this behavior was a sign of nervousness. Therefore, he didn't bother trying to convince Valentine to sit down.

After a few hours of anticipation, Doctor Cole emerged from the laboratory and handed the test results to Valentine Anderson.

"President Valentine, the results indicate that you are not impotent. If you still feel unsure, you are welcome to seek a second opinion at another hospital. I have already made arrangements," Doctor Cole said with a reassuring smile.

Valentine's hands shook as he accepted the report. After reading it and confirming Doctor Cole's words, a sense of relief flooded through him, and he released a long, calming breath.

"I trust you. There's no reason for you to deceive me. Thank you," Valentine Anderson said gratefully to Doctor Cole. After a brief conversation, he left the hospital with Mark at the wheel.

"President Valentine Anderson, Mr. Singers was the mastermind behind your accident five years ago. If he had wanted you eliminated, he could have succeeded then. However, it seems he has no intentions to kill you," Mark revealed. He had personally instructed his team to investigate the incident from five years back, and he was astonished to find no attempts by Mr. Singers to cover his tracks. Instead, his personal aide had been caught on a street surveillance camera at the accident site.

Considering Mr. Singers' immense power, it was surprising that he had not concealed his involvement in the accident that targeted President Anderson five years ago.

Valentine Anderson trembled with fear, realizing that his accident five years ago wasn't due to his reckless driving, but rather a vengeful act orchestrated by his father-in-law as retribution for divorcing his daughter.

"I see no need for further investigation," Valentine Anderson uttered softly, gazing out of the car window as they made their way back to the Singers Mansion. His silence was deafening during the journey.

Arriving back at the mansion at 3 am, Valentine had already conversed with the security personnel and Butler Tom, allowing him to enter the premises without any hindrance.

The night passed restlessly for Valentine Anderson; even when he lay in bed, he tossed and turned until the break of dawn.

As morning arrived, Valentine made his way to the kitchen and prepared breakfast before carrying it to Andrea's room.

Standing at her door, he pressed the doorbell. Andrea, dressed in her nightwear, approached the door and opened it.

Valentine Anderson gazed at Andrea Singers with a mixture of admiration and desire, taking in her drowsy eyes and the allure of her morning appearance, which was unintentionally accentuated by the hint of exposed cleavage. His throat felt dry as he watched her.

"What do you want?" Andrea asked, her arms crossed over her chest, her voice tinged with a hint of irritation. She had caught the look in his eyes and could guess his thoughts.

"Breakfast," Valentine managed to say after clearing his throat.

Andrea let him into the room and walked over to her mirror to comb her long hair. Valentine couldn't help but watch the graceful movement of her neck, his gaze lingering a little too long.

She turned to face him, her expression questioning. "What are you still doing here?" Andrea inquired.

Valentine held out the test results he had brought home the previous night. He took a few steps towards her and said, "I took a test yesterday, and these are the results."

He chose not to tell Andrea about the things her father had done to him.

Raising an eyebrow, Andrea took the paper from him and quickly scanned it. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the results back at him, clearly uninterested. "You should show this to Rose Ferguson. She'd be more excited about your 'good news' than I am," Andrea said dismissively.

Valentine's jaw tightened. He had hoped she would share his excitement, but it was evident that he had been too optimistic. He retrieved the test results from the ground, preparing to leave, when Andrea's voice stopped him. "There's a welcome-back banquet tonight. You'll accompany me—not as my date or plus one."

A smile crept onto Valentine's face. Perhaps there was more to Andrea's feelings than he had thought. With renewed hope, he decided to work even harder to turn those feelings into love.

Throughout the morning, Valentine hummed a cheerful tune as he went about his chores, a grin plastered on his face.

Butler Tom observed this unusual behavior with a shake of his head. He never expected the president of Vegas's largest company to be so smitten.

Approaching Valentine, Tom said, "President Anderson, you don't need to wash the cars. The cleaning service will take care of them."

"There's no need, Tom. I'll handle it. Let me know if there are any other tasks," Valentine insisted.

Tom regarded him with a mix of disbelief and concern. "Does Ms. Singers know who you really are, sir?"

Valentine's expression hardened as he met Tom's gaze. "She mustn't find out. And you're not to tell her either," he warned.

Tom nodded, his curiosity piqued as he wondered what hold Andrea had over Valentine.

That evening, as Andrea and Valentine left for the banquet, they were met by a swarm of reporters the moment they arrived. The first question came barreling in: "Ms. Singers, have you returned to Vegas City because of your ex-husband, Valentine Anderson?"

Andrea's gaze flickered to Rose Ferguson, noticing her look of alarm. Then, turning back to Valentine, who had just exited the car, she allowed a sly smile to play on her lips before replying, "No, I have no interest in impotent men."
