Chapter 56: Meeting My Mother-In-Law

Ch. 56 / 153 Dec 06, 2025

After making a solemn declaration, Valentine Anderson didn't linger. He swiftly got into his car and drove away.

Andrea disdainfully tossed the flowers at the gateman, commanding, "Dispose of these!"

She swiftly entered her car, and her driver promptly whisked her off to the Singers Group headquarters.

Scheduling a board meeting to assess the shortcomings of the Vegas branch of Singers Group, Andrea also proposed establishing a committee to investigate any disloyal members. She was determined to weed out any traitors before initiating a comprehensive company restructuring.

Upon arriving three minutes late to the boardroom, Andrea addressed the members apologetically, saying, "I regret my tardiness and assure you it will not happen again."

The board members were visibly taken aback by Andrea's unexpected display of humility as the Chairwoman of the Singers Group.

Andrea glanced at the time and realized it was already time for the business news segment. "Let's start with the business news," she directed firmly. She never missed a day without catching up on the latest business updates; it helped her plan her day, anticipate the future, and understand the economic trends.

To her surprise, when the large LED television flickered to life, Valentine Singers appeared on the screen, being interviewed by a host. "President Valentine Anderson, we are delighted to welcome you to our station for the first time. Our viewers will be thrilled to have you here with us," the host exclaimed.

The Heart Talk Show was a popular program in Vegas City, boasting millions of viewers and attracting top celebrities from the entertainment industry.

"Please change the channel," Andrea immediately requested, not waiting for Valentine Anderson to speak a word.

When the channel was changed, it still displayed the same Heart Talk Show, much to Andrea's frustration. "Why are all the channels airing this talk show? Are they all too obsessed with it?" she exclaimed.

"Ms. Andrea Singers, I believe Val. Corp is involved in this. None of the stations are broadcasting anything else, and even the radios are following suit," the woman with the remote replied honestly.

"I want to take this moment to publicly declare my intention to win back my ex-wife. Andrea Singers, I love you, and I want us to be together again. I ask everyone listening to pray and wish me luck," Valentine Anderson announced on the television screen.

"Disgraceful," Andrea muttered, then gave a command, "Turn off the television. Let's begin the meeting immediately."

The woman holding the remote swiftly changed the channel on the television, catching the board room off guard as they discovered that Andrea Singers was, in fact, Valentine Anderson's ex-wife. However, there was no time for them to dwell on this revelation as Andrea wasted no time in addressing their shortcomings.

The meeting dragged on for three grueling hours as Andrea meticulously assembled the teams necessary for her various objectives. Finally, she brought the meeting to a close.

Exiting the board room alongside the president of the Singers Group, Andrea was engaged in conversation as she made her way out of the building.

Employees who caught sight of her whispered among themselves, their attention drawn to Valentine Anderson's public declaration of love.

Stepping outside the Singers Group headquarters, Andrea was taken aback to see a plane soaring overhead, trailing a banner that read, "Valentine Anderson Loves You, Andrea Singers."

"Pathetic," she muttered disdainfully, shaking her head at the display.

Before she could take another step, a group of little girls approached, each carrying a bouquet of flowers.

"Mrs. Andrea Singers, these flowers are for you. Mr. Valentine Anderson sends his love," one of the girls said as she presented the flowers.

The children's innocent faces reminded Andrea of her own son, Pete, and she found it impossible to turn them away.

With patience and a smile, she accepted the flowers, offering her thanks to the girls. After receiving the bouquets, Andrea stepped into her car, waving farewell to the president.

On the drive to the supermarket, Andrea was bombarded with the sight of Valentine Anderson on electronic billboards and posters, each one adorned with romantic confessions. She rolled her eyes in annoyance and muttered, "Brainless."

Upon reaching the supermarket, another banner greeted her, further fueling her irritation. She quickly pulled out her phone and called Valentine Anderson.

As soon as he answered, she snapped, "Let's meet at 9 pm tonight. I'll send you the address." Without waiting for a response, she hung up and headed toward the supermarket entrance.

Exiting the supermarket were Benita and Mrs. Anderson, who were taken aback by the sight of Andrea Singers. They recognized the transformed Andrea, once the subject of their scorn, now radiating beauty and affluence. They had lacked the courage to seek her out, but now fate had intervened.

"My daughter-in-law," Mrs. Anderson exclaimed with an exaggerated smile, fully aware of Andrea and Valentine's divorce.

"Hello, Mrs. Anderson, it's nice to see you," Andrea replied coolly, devoid of any similar warmth.

Mrs. Anderson faltered at the formality, but maintained her smile. "Andrea, we're so sorry for everything that happened five years ago. Please forgive us..." Noticing Benita's silence, she turned sharply and scolded, "Benita, what are you waiting for? Come and greet your sister-in-law, you unfilial child!"

Andrea crossed her arms, observing the scene with a detached curiosity. Benita, caught under Andrea's gaze, struggled for words, her past misdeeds against Andrea fresh in her mind.

"Andrea, I am sorry," she finally managed, her head bowed.

"Mrs. Anderso..."

Mrs. Anderson cut Andrea off mid-sentence, still smiling. "Andrea, we're not strangers. Please, call me mother."
