Jade sat on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her, staring down at her phone. Her heart was racing as she scrolled through her contacts and stopped at Mia’s name. She had to tell her best friend the news, but part of her was still processing it herself. Her fingers hovered over the call button before finally pressing it.
The phone rang twice before Mia answered, her voice cheerful as always. “Jade! What’s up, girl?”
Jade took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. “Hey, Mia. Do you have a minute? I have something to tell you.”
“Uh-oh, you sound serious,” Mia said, her tone shifting to one of concern. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Jade said quickly, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Actually, I’m more than fine. I have… some big news.”
Mia gasped audibly. “Oh my god, spill! Don’t leave me hanging!”
Jade hesitated for only a moment before blurting out, “Mia, I’m pregnant.”
There was a beat of stunned silence on the other end of the line before Mia’s voice erupted, loud enough to make Jade wince. “YOU’RE WHAT?! Jade, are you serious? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!”
Jade couldn’t help but laugh, her earlier nervousness melting away at Mia’s enthusiasm. “Yes, I’m serious. I found out this morning. I still can’t believe it.”
“This is HUGE!” Mia exclaimed. “Jade, you’re going to be a mom! I’m so freaking happy for you!”
Jade leaned back against the couch, a soft smile on her face. “Thanks, Mia. It’s all so overwhelming. I mean, I didn’t plan for this at all, but now that it’s happening… I don’t know, it feels surreal.”
“Girl, you’ve got this,” Mia said confidently. “And let’s not forget, you have three insanely supportive men by your side. Have you told them yet?”
“Oh, they know,” Jade said, glancing toward the kitchen where Milan, Enzo, and Thiago were talking quietly. “They were with me when the doctor told me. They’ve been amazing about it, honestly.”
Mia let out a dreamy sigh. “Of course they have. They adore you, Jade. This baby is going to be the most loved child in the world.”
Jade’s cheeks flushed at the thought. “It’s just… so much to take in. I’ve been thinking about everything that’s going to change, and it’s kind of scary.”
“Of course it’s scary,” Mia said, her tone softening. “But you’re not doing this alone. You’ve got a whole team around you who would do anything for you. And you’ve got me, too. I’m going to be the best auntie this kid has ever seen.”
Jade laughed, wiping away the happy tears that had started to fall. “Thanks, Mia. That means a lot.”
“Anytime, girl,” Mia said. “Now, go celebrate with your boys. You’re about to start a whole new chapter, and it’s going to be amazing.”
