Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 216

Ch. 216 / 840 May 06, 2026

Tabitha's POV

The moment I hung up the phone, I was buzzing with excitement.

I felt so lucky. Just as I thought I had reached a dead end, suddenly, a new clue came up.

I asked Chloe to look after Kyrian.

She glanced at the time and asked, "Tabitha, where are you off to at this hour?"

"I've gotta handle something urgent," I replied.

"But Alpha Derek said that you better not go out tonight," she reminded me.

I explained it to her briefly. Seeing I was determined to leave, she had to let me go.

The bodyguards wanted to rush up and stop me, but I had already gotten into Klein's car.

I glanced in the rearview mirror at the cars tailing behind us and asked, my face solemn, "Klein, can you shake them off?"

For some reason, I didn't want Derek to know that I was looking into this.

I just wanted to throw the evidence in his face when I figured everything out.

"Of course. Sit tight," replied Klein.

Klein was no ordinary guy. Though he looked a bit pale, it didn't mess with his sharp and cool vibe at all.

After he spoke, the car suddenly sped up. Good thing that it was late, so the streets were pretty clear, leaving no chance of a crash.

I buckled up tight and gripped the armrest.

As he hit the gas, the cars following us sped up, too. And I felt like I was in the middle of a Hollywood blockbuster, giving me a real-life Fast and Furious experience.

When Klein made a sharp turn, I felt as if I was gonna get thrown out of the car.

But my werewolf instinct made me as steady as a rock.

When we finally managed to shake off all the cars, I realized that my hand gripping the armrest was already soaked with sweat because of nervousness.

Klein said to me in a natural and gentle manner, "Are you OK?"

I answered, still badly shaken up, "Yeah... I'm OK. Just ... my legs feel a bit wobbly."

Klein chuckled.

Then he gently patted my head. "Relax. I'm here with you."

At that moment, we both froze.

He slowly withdrew his hand, looking a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, Tabitha. As I said, you are about the same age as my sister. So I did it out of instinct."

I knew he wasn't lying. The way he looked at me was gentle, but that was all. There was no other emotion mixed in his eyes.

"It's fine," I smiled. "Too bad I'm the only daughter in my family. I'm not lucky enough to have many siblings like you."

Klein took out a document from his briefcase. "Oh, this is Hawthorn's info. Take a look."

I took it over and secretly marveled at how well-connected he was. He managed to dig up something even Derek couldn't track down.

After I finished reading the document, the car pulled up in an alley with no cameras, where a black SUV had already been parked.

"We need to get into another car," said Klein.

"OK." I hurriedly got out of the car.

He drove towards the outskirts. Noticing how nervous I was, Klein took out two bottles of yogurt from the mini-fridge. "Want some?"

As I watched him sip the strawberry-flavored yogurt so naturally, I couldn't help but widen my eyes.

"Th-thanks." I took the bottle.

Klein chuckled and said, "To be honest, both me and my family love yogurt, especially the strawberry flavor one."

"I can see why. It's quite tasty." I knew he wanted me to relax a bit, given how uneasy I was.

The sour and sweet taste spread in my mouth, which calmed my nerves.

"Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you," Klein said while looking at me gently. "Since we share the same last name, I'll see you as my sister."

I was amazed. He actually picked up on each of my expressions no matter how subtle it was.

No wonder he would be at the top. He could read my mind like it was an open book.

Before we got out of the car, he gave me a few tips and told me to disguise myself as he asked.

I then changed into a different outfit and threw on a mask.

It was the common attire of Poison and Wolf Shadow's members. Even if someone saw me, they wouldn't know who I was.

As we walked, the houses around us started to thin out, and the lights were becoming scarce. I couldn't barely hold back my excitement. Could I uncover the truth tonight?
