Jacob’s POV
I’ve been dying to kiss her and the feeling of her lips into mine is pure heaven. I felt all my inhibitions and fears flew just by the taste of her.
I feel her. She’s with me. I didn’t lose her.
Lucianna responded with the same intensity. I feel it, she misses me as much as I do and knowing this is too much of a feeling.
Her hand went to my nape, his fingers dug in my skin and her chest came closer to mine.
I know, baby. I know. I want you, too.
My arms embraced her, snaking at her waist, my hands on her back and my lips trembling in the mind-blowing kiss.
Before I could deepen the kiss even more, Lucianna pushes her palms on my chest. I was caught off guard that I let it happen, gaining back the bit lost of balance.
What’s wrong? Why did she… damn it.
“I…I can’t.” she breathed, covering her lips with the back of her palm. She stood up and walked away, heading for what seems to be the kitchen.
I followed her, not in a rush, ever slowly. Careful.
My nose flared as I sniffed to the air, her arousal teasing my senses. I held my growls, I can’t scare her.
Luce grabbed a glass of water and drink in it. My eyes travelled down her throat and the pulse in her neck matches the loud drumming of her heart.
“You want me, Lucianna. You need me.” I stated. Its a fact I feed my head, and I don’t care if its not what she thinks she feels because I can feel it.
“Yes, I do, Jacob. Damn it!” her voice raises and she speaks through gritted teeth.
My eyes widened, I did not expect her admission. I’m more ready for her denial but she didn’t, she’s being honest. Her heart is beating more furiously.
Her head bowed, her hands leaning on the kitchen counter and I hate it that I can’t see how her face looks right now.
God, my heart is swelling because of her confession.
“I…” she took a deep breath and one second, she’s facing me. My eyes softened as I saw tears forming in the sides of her eyes.
She’s crying.
“I never wanted anything in my life but you. I need you near, I want you to kiss me, to lock me in your arms, to have me! I want all of you because I can only be alive with you, Jacob.”
I took a step forwards but she held her hand up and stopped me.
“Don’t.” I halted. “Stay there. Please.”
“You’re my air, baby. You’ve become my heart. I can’t live without you, Lucianna. So tell me what the fuck is wrong because I want to be right there.” I pointed at her. “Beside you so I can breath, Lucianna,” my voice pleading.
The tears in her eyes rolled down her cheek and my breath hitched from the sight.
“I can’t.” she shook her head, her eyes closed.
What can possibly be wrong to turn my mate into this? She’s saying she wanted me, then she pushes me away like a scared cat.
“We got to talk, baby. You have to tell me what’s wrong or we’ll both lose our mind.” I said in a low voice and walked to her.
She stepped backward but the kitchen counter stopped her to go any farther. I placed my arms on her sides, gripping hard on the marbled counter.
She hissed a deep breath but kept her eyes down, not having the confidence to look me in the eyes.
My lips parted in awe. She’s so good at resisting and being hard on herself that I feel the need to be there. For her. More.
“We’re not gonna move here until you tell me.” I said in a serious voice. “I won’t stand here and watch you crumble. For once, rely on me, Lucianna.” then the plead is there again.
Lucianna looked up and her eyes met mine. My heart sank from the confusion I saw in it, but the honesty is also there… somehow trying to come out.
I waited, but she didn’t speak. A minute has passed and her lips just keep on parting open and then tightly closing.
My heart sank more.
“You know, looking back… you never leaned on me. You never asked for my help, and when you tried, I was a jerk and rude.” I whispered, my heart shrinking now.
“Its… in the past.” she murmured. Barely speaking.
“Yeah…” I decided to free her from my arm-prison as I stood straight. Our eyes still locked. “The past made me realize that you won’t tell me a word about… whatever this is.”
“Jacob…” she called but my faint smile stopped her.
“It’s alright. No, its not alright but I get it. This is what I get for being a jerk, and I’m accepting defeat.”
“D-Defeat?” she paled. “No. I-I don’t want you to--”
“You know, it will be too heartless of you if you want me still and pushes me away at the same time.” I cut. “But its fine with me. I can be toyed by your little fingers, make me eat in the palm of your hand. I’m fine with all of the push and pull, but you need to come home to me. Because, baby…” I hissed. “I don’t have the heart to make you feel alone again. I’ll chase you nonstop but bottom line? I’m still with you.”
Lucianna looks like she’s about to cry again. I smiled, a pure smile that screams how much I love her. And my eyes looks hopeful that she feel it.
The seconds felt like a long hours of silence but I gave her time to take all my words by heart.
Funny how I can feel emotions I didn’t thought of before. Weakness. Love is a weakness and I gladly be weak than not love at all.
Lucianna finally nodded and I breathed with relief.
“Let’s grab your things.” I said and turned around to head for the room that has all her scent inside.
Then, I felt her hands touched my arm. I stopped and looked at her.
“I will tell you everything. But not… now.” she said, her eyes full of confidence.
I smiled and faced her again, cupping her face with my hands. “If its a conflict in your part, then you don’t have to.”
She shook her head. “I will. And I will come back to Shadow pack with you, but I need to come back here in a few more days.”
I frowned and my hand fell on my sides. My eyes squinted at her, trying to find logic in what she said.
“May I know why?” I asked, carefully.
“I’m here because I’m waiting for someone. We’ll meet here.”
I feel like a wrecking ball just landed in my chest and my heart was crushed.
“Is it… someone I should be jealous of?”
Her eyes widened. “What? No!” now she’s chuckling but my eyes are still squinted in her way. “No, Jacob. Its a woman. And I want you to be with me when I meet her.”
I sighed heavily. “I think my heart stops beating for a second.”
Lucianna laughed.
We took her things, packed it and loaded the car. Everything was light around us, and I’m glad it is. I feel like I’ve slept for a whole week because of this floating feeling I’m having. Too gay-ish but I loved the feeling
“Is this all?” I asked after loading her backpack to the trunk.
She was biting her thumb as if she’s still thinking about something.
“Um, my mattress?” she whispers, hesitant.
I can’t help but laugh a little. “Baby, you can leave it here. We won’t fit in a single, anyway.”
“B-But I’ll be sleeping in my room, Jacob. I won’t sleep with you, uh, once we’re back.”
My jaw dropped.
“You’re kidding.”
She shook her head.
“Why?!” did I overreact right there? I cleared my throat. “Enlighten me of why you need to use a separate room. Please.”
She made an awkward grin, showing all her beautiful teeth.
You look cute, baby, but not sleeping with me is not cute at all.
“Just because.”
I groaned. “Don’t tell me its another of the stuff you can’t tell me?” I guessed but I guessed right when she nodded.
“We need to negotiate--”
The ringing of my phone interrupted our talk and I groaned as I reached for my back pocket.
The caller is Nick, Aiden’s beta.
“I have to take this, its the Prime pack.” I said, closing the trunk and hitting the green button. “Everything okay?” I asked through the line.
“Uh, actually, no. Alpha Aiden asked me to call you, he needs all North Alpha’s to attend a meeting. Its urgent.”
I frowned. There was nothing urgent when it comes to Aiden. He always have everything planned.
“When?”
“In a few minutes. Video call.”
I hissed and looked at Lucianna. She’s listening.
There’s no way I’d like to stay another minute in Chequer pack, there’s a possibility that we’ll be jeopardize here if we do.
“I have matters at hand right now. Can you spare me the details of the meeting though?” I motioned for Lucianna to get inside the car as I open her a door.
“Uh, yeah. This is really urgent.”
I closed the door and moved to the driver’s side.
“Nick, you’re going around the bush. Just say it.”
I started the engine once I was inside but didn’t put the gear on drive yet and waited for the information.
“Ashira was taken. Elon did it when the treaty has expired and now Aiden is planning to attack the Ravenous pack and take our Luna back. We need backup.”
“What the hell?” Lucianna exclaimed.
I look at her for a sec and decided to start driving. I feel like there’s eyes looking around.
“I’m always in.” I grunted. “But why the need for backup? Ravenous is outnumbered compared to Prime.”
“Elon recruited rogues, that’s why.”
“That’s a fucked-up move.”
Lucianna is shifting uncomfortably and I know she’s starting to get worried. Ashira is like a sister to her.
“Yeah. So we’ll be needing more wolves. How many of yours should we expect?”
“I’ll send half of mine. Two-hundred at most.”
“Okay, I’ll tell him.” Nick sighed on the line and I heard how panicky it is. “Time of arrival?”
“My fighters can reach there by evening, I’ll call over to inform my beta about this. But I’ll be there later at dawn, I’m nearby.”
“Okay. Thank you, Alpha Jacob.”
I cut the line and instead of maneuvering towards my pack, I took a shortcut so it will be faster to reach the Prime pack.
“What the heck? Ash’s been kidnapped by that twart?!” Lucianna said in anger.
“Yes, baby. We need to take a detour.”
“Oh, please do. I’ll kill that bastard.”
I chuckled. I think Aiden will get him before you do, baby.
