Lucianna’s POV

“I mean abortion, Lucianna. We have to kill the pup inside your womb in exchange of enough time.”

I swear, all the blood running through my veins left. I froze, and I stopped breathing. Killing the pup… God, that sounds so wrong because it fucking is!

“You’re proposing to kill my child, Roscoe.” I stated because he seems to forgot that fact.

“Yes--”

“My own child. Its your family, too!”

“I know that, Lucianna! But do we have a choice? We’re already in this problem, and we got no other options to choose from.” he bowed his head and sighed before looking back at me. “Its either let Jacob die or kill the pup before it consume your mate.”

I put my hands up to stop him, unable to can’t hear any more of this.

Roscoe has a point and it is clear but I am not thinking of killing my own child. I’m hopeful,I’m still hoping for a miracle to save us all from the fate’s curse. But Roscoe is also right that we have no time. And I have no time to continue hoping.

But still…

Killing the child… I’ve dream of starting a family. To have a family of my own, not kill a child!

“I need to be alone. ” I say in a whisper. The strength left my system and I lost the ability to function. I need to be alone and absorb everything. But no, I’m not entertaining the thought of killing my own pup.

Roscoe stood up, his eyes are full of remorse but I don’t need the pity. I already know what pitiful situation I am in.

“I’m not trying to be the enemy here, Lucianna. I hope you’re not thinking that way. You can talk to Jacob about this, if he agree--”

“Leave.” I gulped and shut my eyes closed. “Please.”

Roscoe nodded and the next thing I heard was his footsteps followed by the opening and closing of the door.

Now, I’m alone.

So I cried hard, falling on the floor.

Jacob’s POV

There are voices in my head. The moment I left home and went to the Hall to try and distract myself, I heard whispers in my ears from time to time. There’s a short whisper, then fades and gone but after an hour it’ll come back with a longer and louder voice.

The words aren’t clear, I don’t know if its even in a language I’m able to comprehend but it’s there. There and sounds so real.

Its frustrating that Brent is not here to help as a distraction and now the voices are almost making me insane.

Any more second and the word ‘almost’ will be out on its way.

Fuck. The hell is happening to me?

I groaned loud when the voice came back. My head falls down, forehead slamming on the cold-wood desk.

All I could ever think was to go home, no, to go to Lucianna. There was an urge to be right beside her every time the voice passes by.

‘Wolf, you there?’

A low groan and a yawn was heard inside my head. My wolf have the guts to sleep in the midst of these?! Well, I can’t blame him for not having any actions the past months but seriously?

‘What?’

‘Are you even aware of what’s happening here?’

‘I was sleeping, not deaf.’

I sighed. The wolf is a mirror of character and that’s the same reason I seldom talk with my wolf. Yes, even I hate my attitude at times.

‘Any thoughts? Something you can dig down memory lane?’

‘The fuck? I’m born the same year as you.’

I rolled my eyes. “I’m talking about the ancestor’s link, you lethargic wolf!” followed by a groan when I realized I said it out loud. ‘Be fucking useful for once!’

‘Can’t.’ my wolf simply said and I saw it turned its back to go back to sleep. My teeth gritted from annoyance.

I’m not sure if my wolf can get something from the link but one thing this lazy wolf isn’t… its not helping.

Silence took us then I felt my wolf used his power. We are one and I can sense his surge of power. The power of the shadow eye allows my wolf to connect with the wolves of the previous Alpha.

I smiled and shook my head lightly. My wolf can be annoying as I am but he’s always there for me. We’re always there for each other, the kind of bond that any werewolf have the moment we are born.

‘Anything yet?’ I asked after some moment of its digging.

‘Allowed for Alejandro’s to know?’

I gasped. ‘Shit, no. Can you put a limit to it?’

‘I’ll try if you’re quiet and patient.’

I growled but didn’t say a word. I haven’t share the problem with my parents because one, I don’t want them to worry. And this issue is something my mother will faint over. Second, I don’t have any solutions yet. If I were to tell them this news, which is bad, I’ll do it once I have a proper resolution.

‘No luck here. The link seems to be broken if I’ll be honest. No one is talking to me.’

I groaned in frustration. The ancestors aren’t always there, I understand that. They’re retired, some probably resurrected. And sometimes, they turn off the connection with a reason I don’t know why.

‘Alright. Thank you for trying.’

‘Didn’t help much but you’re welcome. Can I sleep now?’

‘Fine. I owe you a run. Maybe some time soon.’

The wolf inside me let out a whining sound. ‘Already exhausted here.’

My head shook and I decided to give my wolf some rest. My physical and mental condition affects my wolf so I understand if he felt drained because I’m barely breathing.

Then I noticed that the voices stopped bothering inside my head. Frowning, I looked around.

Did my wolf do something about the voices? Or was I just distracted with some other thoughts that the whispering fades?

‘I don’t hear anything in here and so no, I didn’t do a thing about it.’ my wolf interrupted my thinking and then he let me hear his snore.

What a jackass.

Well, this is an advantage. Its good that the voices has finally died down and so I did the most sane thing to do.

I worked my ass out, almost finishing a week’s workload.

Lucianna’s POV

It’s already late and Jacob was still in the Hall. I stopped crying, only hauled by about two hours of on and off hard sobs and soft whines but then I stopped. Crying isn’t really helping me to feel better. If there’s any, my feelings got worse.

Remembering that I haven’t cook dinner, I walked out of the home office and saw Harley laying on the couch by the living room. He was playing with his phone, throwing it up and catching it back down.

“You’re still here.” I stated in a low voice. He stopped playing with his phone to look at me so I looked away. Can’t tell how puffy my eyes would be from all that crying and I don’t want him jumping to conclusions that Roscoe made me cry. Part of it, he does but not entirely.

“Won’t leave you alone. Jacob’s not home yet.”

I cleared my throat and headed to the kitchen. I sensed Harley sat up and followed in the kitchen.

“Yep. I’m making dinner so you can eat here tonight.”

Harley was standing by the kitchen door and not saying anything. He’s not really the loud company but his silence means he was observing. And I’m nervous to be observed right now.

“Nah. I already ate.”

I frowned and looked at Harley for a second. He was looking right at me so I looked away as fast as I turned to him.

“You didn’t left the house.”

“Yeah, I ate what’s inside your fridge so don’t bother including me for dinner.”

I shrugged and continued chopping onions and garlic first.

Harley was stomping his foot on the floor and I know he wanted to ask something. He is not the best in keeping something from himself.

“What is it?” I asked, rolling my eyes. Even though my back was facing him, I can guess what his face must be saying.

“You are not planning to run away again, right?” he finally asked.

“Nope.” I sighed. “Not yet an option.”

Harley hissed. “So you might?” I heard a few footsteps and he must be by the table right now. “Just fair warning, I’ll come with you this time whether you like it or not. Well, if you can escape Jacob the second time.”

My eyes are squinting as I watched him shrugged like he was taking it seriously.

Sighing, I just went back to chopping vegetables this time.

“I know there’s a problem, I can feel it.” Harley said in a more sincere tone. “But running away is not always the answer.”

The sounds of tires screeching from a sudden break tell us that Jacob has arrived.

“Alpha’s here!” then he ran out of the house.

I shook my head. “Sometimes it is, Gamma. This problem is.”

A heavy sigh came out of my chest again before I continue making dinner.

Now I had to share the newfound solution of Roscoe to Jacob.

Great.
