Chapter 561: A Really Good Day
They had met up today to talk about a possible partnership. While they were chatting, they kept checking the stock. Just a little while ago, they were both downcast when it looked like the price was falling again. But now, with the sudden spike, they were both overjoyed.
Diana was so excited she didn’t know what to do with herself. She wanted to scream, jump, and hug someone. With Brandon standing right next to her, she threw her arms around him without thinking.
A second later, she realized what she’d done and tried to pull away. But Brandon didn’t let her go. Instead, he picked her up and spun her around.
“Phoenix Alliance Group rises from the ashes! We’ve made a fortune!”
Earlier that morning, they had used every cent they borrowed from the bank to buy shares in Phoenix Alliance Group.
“Put me down! Put me down!” Diana shouted, but the huge grin on her face said otherwise. She had been stressed all day, scared the stock would keep falling. At one point, she had even accepted that she might lose everything. But now, against all odds, the stock price had shot up.
Meanwhile, Leonel hadn’t gone to the research institute that day. He had slept longer and only woke up when he felt completely rested. As he headed to the kitchen to make himself some breakfast, he casually pulled out his phone to check the stock market.
The moment he saw the numbers on his screen, his jaw dropped.
A few days ago, Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock had taken a nosedive… and now it had hit a new high?
Leonel stared at his screen in disbelief. When he gave Bianca all his savings, he had already accepted that he might never see that money again. He told himself it was the least he could do after everything she’d done for him. But now, what was going on?
Heart pounding, Leonel quickly called Madison. It took several rings before she finally picked up.
It was still late at night where she was. Her voice was sharp with irritation. “Do you even care what time it is? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?”
“Mom, check the stock market!” Leonel said, his voice full of excitement. “Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock just soared!”
He was so happy that he didn’t even hear the tone in her voice.
Madison was caught off guard by her son’s excitement. She paused for a moment, then sat up and opened the stock trading app on her phone. When she saw the current price of Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock, her eyes widened in shock.
She blinked a few times, then logged out and back in to make sure it wasn’t a mistake. When she confirmed it, a satisfied smile spread across her face.
“I told you to trust your sister’s judgment,” she said proudly to her son, still on the line.
“I believe it now,” Leonel replied. “But I really want to know how Phoenix Alliance Group pulled this off.”
“Don’t forget,” Madison said, standing up and pouring herself a glass of wine, “Dave is the CEO who turned Phoenix Alliance Group into what it is today.”
“I didn’t think Bianca could end up with someone that powerful,” Leonel murmured. His view of Dave had changed completely. Now, he couldn’t help but admire him.
“That just proves your sister’s the better one,” Madison said with a proud smile. She had always believed her daughter outshone her in every way.
Over in Blosa, Michael had also gotten word that Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock had suddenly soared. He couldn’t help but be impressed by Dave’s move—waiting until the last possible moment before striking. To anyone who didn’t know Dave well, it would’ve caused a full-blown panic. But Michael knew exactly how Dave operated.
Right then, his assistant rushed into the office, out of breath. “Mr. Hayes! Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock just hit a record high! It’s unbelievable!”
“I expected this,” Michael replied without missing a beat.
The assistant stared at him, wide-eyed. It took him a moment to speak. “You… You’re amazing! You really understand the market!”
Michael burst into laughter. He knew the real genius wasn’t him. It was Dave.
Dave was the only one who could turn a hopeless situation around and bring it back to life.
Michael felt pretty satisfied. He had made a huge profit from this investment, and he was sure Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock still had more room to rise.
“Today’s a really good day,” he said with a smile.
And it truly was a good day for many. But not for Brady.
Brady’s short-selling plan had fallen apart. Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock just kept rising, and he didn’t have the money to buy back the shares he’d borrowed. In the end, he had no choice but to close everything. The loss was so huge that it wiped him out completely.
“That… That’s impossible!” he choked out.
Brady’s eyes widened, bloodshot and wild. He looked over at Dave and Bianca, who were chatting happily nearby, and bitterness surged through him. It felt like something was choking him, making it hard to breathe.
His phone started ringing. One of his men was calling. He didn’t pick up.
Everything had happened so fast. He had been so close to winning.
But somehow, Dave pulled it off. Brady couldn’t wrap his head around it. Where did all that money come from? Even with the shift in public opinion, spending that much seemed impossible.
Was it foreign capital? A big international bank? Some global finance company?
But why would anyone back Dave?
The questions kept coming, one after another, making his head spin.
Just then, a hand landed on Brady’s shoulder. It was Dave. “So, what do you think? I didn’t let you down, did I, Brady?”
The words hit hard. Not only had Dave crushed him financially, but he had humiliated him too.
But Brady had no excuse. No argument left. He turned to face Dave, his eyes dull and empty. “Well… sort of.”
“That’s good to hear,” Dave said calmly. He glanced at Bianca. “Thanks to her, Phoenix Alliance Group will make it.”
Then he looked at Bianca and added,
“Go tell Grandpa.”
“Okay. If he hears this, maybe he’ll recover faster and get out of the hospital soon.”
Bianca’s words made Brady stumble. He nearly fell. Whether he liked it or not, he had lost everything. Now, people were laughing at him.
“Are you alright?” Dave asked, his tone cold. “You’re already at the hospital. Want me to get someone to check you out?”
Then he added, almost offhandedly, “By the way, I just heard that Hughes, the doctor treating my aunt, died in a car accident overseas. But… he left something behind.”
