Chapter 581: Blake Is Back
“Right now, no agency can match Bianca’s. Especially with someone like Reese. She’s unstoppable. In just a few months, she’s starred in eight hit web dramas and gained over 200 million new fans.”
“I wonder if Bianca knew about this early or if her agency just got lucky and grabbed the chance.”
Over the internet, everyone was sure Emerald Artists Agency would land the deal with Universal Pictures. But Bianca couldn’t let herself relax. She knew nothing was certain until the contract was signed. Everything could still change.
Universal Pictures had announced they were sending a representative to Edenfield to check things out. But no matter how much Bianca searched, she couldn’t find any information about who it was.
She leaned back in her chair, deciding to stop worrying about it for now. She picked up her phone and called Dave.
The moment she heard his voice, her face softened, and a small smile appeared. “Are you free tonight? I’d like to have dinner with you.”
“Of course. I’d love that.”
Dave’s gentle voice always had a strange effect on her. No matter how busy or stressed she felt, hearing him settled her heart.
“Alright then. See you tonight.”
For the past six months, both of them had been busy with work, spending more time apart than together. Today, Bianca reached out first because she missed him. Once Blake returned and her deal with him ended, she planned to marry Dave and finally become his wife.
As she happily pictured their future, she headed downstairs. Just then, her phone rang. It was a call from an unknown number.
Bianca stopped for a moment, then answered the call. A familiar voice came through right away.
“Bianca, I’m back.”
She froze, too shocked to speak. After a few seconds, she found her voice. “Blake? You’re really back?”
“Yes, Bianca. I’m back. Are you free tonight? I want to see you.”
Bianca hesitated. She had just made dinner plans with Dave. But now, Blake was suddenly calling her.
When Bianca didn’t answer right away, Blake gave a small, bitter laugh. “Forget it, then.”
“No… I want to see you too. There’s something I need to talk to you about,” Bianca said softly.
Once she cleared things up with Blake, she could be with Dave without anything holding her back.
After agreeing on a place to meet, she hung up and immediately called Dave. She had no reason to hide anything from him. When he answered, she said simply, “Blake’s back.”
There was a short silence. Then Dave’s calm voice came through. “I see. Are you meeting him tonight?”
“Yes. I think it’s time to settle things with him. Just wait for me.”
Dave understood what she meant. After tonight, nothing would stand between them.
A small smile touched his lips. “Call me if you need anything. But don’t forget, you stood me up tonight. When you get back… you’ll owe me.”
Bianca blushed. “Okay,” she said softly.
She ended the call, took a deep breath, and walked outside.
At the same time, Blake sat quietly in his third uncle, Stanton Lawson’s, house.
Blake held up a photo. It showed Stanton’s wife and daughter tied up on the floor, blindfolded, with earplugs in.
Covered in blood and shaking, Stanton knelt in front of Blake, begging, “Please… please don’t hurt them. I’ll give you all my shares in the Lawson Group. I swear, I’ll follow your lead from now on.”
Blake stepped back, disgusted. “Don’t get my shoes dirty.”
Behind him, dozens of bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses stood silently, waiting.
Blake looked down at Stanton and asked coldly, “Are you afraid of dying?”
“Yes! I’m scared of dying! Just let me live, please! I’ll do whatever you want. Anything!”
Blake raised an eyebrow. “Why should I trust you? You know, I hate betrayal. Do you know what happened to Uncle Benson?”
Stanton’s face turned pale. He stammered, “Y-You… it was you, wasn’t it?”
Blake suddenly laughed. He shook his head. “That’s a serious accusation. Do you have proof?”
“No… I’m sorry… Please, just spare me and my family. The evidence of corruption in the group… it’s in the safe. I’ll give it to you, and my loyalty too. Isn’t that enough?”
After Blake’s man brought him the item from the safe, he gave Blake a nod.
Blake’s tone softened. “Uncle Stanton, get up. Wouldn’t it have been better if we had settled this peacefully from the start? You’ve suffered enough. From now on, I’ll take care of you and your family.”
He leaned closer, patted Stanton’s shoulder, and whispered with a smile, “Remember this… today, your wife and daughter were kidnapped, and I’m the one who saved them.”
Stanton looked at him, stunned. A cold shiver ran down his spine. “Of course… that’s what happened,” he said quickly, nodding.
An hour later, Stanton’s wife and daughter were safely back home.
“Dad, who saved us?” his daughter asked. She didn’t know Blake but thought he looked friendly. Smiling, she said, “He has a nice smile… like a movie star.”
“Yes, sweetheart. We were kidnapped by bad people, and he rescued us,” Stanton’s wife replied softly. “If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be home now. You must remember to thank him.”
Both mother and daughter seemed to have a good impression of Blake. Stanton, however, felt sick hearing them praise him. With the evidence now in Blake’s hands, he had no choice but to obey.
Who would’ve thought Brady’s son would be this dangerous? On the surface, Blake looked cheerful and harmless. But beneath that smile, he was cold and ruthless. Even Brady wasn’t as cunning.
Thinking about it, Stanton gritted his teeth and said, “His name is Blake. Brady’s son. He’s the one who saved you.”
His wife’s eyes widened in shock. “Isn’t he… the illegitimate child?”
Stanton was surprised. He quickly stopped his wife and looked serious as he said, “From now on, don’t speak badly about Blake. He’s Brady’s only son and the heir of the Lawson Group. He deserves our respect. Besides, he saved you this time, so our family should support him.”
“Oh! You’re right. Now that you mention it, he does look quite good. I guess that settles it. But why did he leave in such a hurry? We didn’t even get to thank him. You should invite him over when he’s free. I’ll prepare a meal to thank him properly.”
Hearing this, Stanton felt anxious. He didn’t really want to see Blake, but he had no choice and agreed.
“Okay. He has something else to do tonight, but I’ll set a meeting with him soon.”
