** Anna’s POV **
As I packed my clothes into the luggage box, I couldn’t help but be bothered by my thoughts. Why did MB suddenly decide that we would be leaving? I thought the plan was to stay behind until good progress has been made at the Diamond Mine?
Could his sudden decision to leave have something to do with our disagreement? If that was the case, he could have just sent Megan and I home, why abandon the whole project? I believe there is still a bit of disagreement at the position of General manager that is yet to be resolved, why would he leave a project in the midst of that chaos?
I quickly turned to Megan who was busy on her phone, “Meg… Do you have an idea why we are leaving? Did Mr. Blackwood mention anything or sound mad to you?” I queried curiously.
“Um…. Nah. He didn’t say, his instructions were clear; pack your things, we are leaving tonight although he did sound a bit tense and worried, but I don’t know what that is all about.” She replied
I could tell from her tone that she was being sincere, she really knew nothing. However, she did say that he was worried, so what could he be worried about?
My mind swept through the activities of the past few days, nothing seems to be going well, especially my relationships, I am losing control of them. One moment, it looks like everything is okay and the next moment everything has gone wrong.
Let's start with Jimmy. I know it feels like everything is okay again between us but ever since we got back together, he had been distant. I just have a feeling that the whole thing is a camouflage but I try hard to ignore it. I want to be happy for once in my life, so I push the negative thoughts away and live in the present.
There is also my best friend who technically broke up with me, she said I should find a new best friend and ended the call on me. I can't believe she was ready to throw away everything we have together for the sake of a man. What did Jimmy do to her to warrant such hatred, a disdain stronger than her love for me.
I need to get a grip on myself and put things in order but I just don’t know what to do. What should I do? How do I fix this?
My thoughts were put to a halt when Megan called to my attention. Standing from the bed, she looked towards the door. “Girl, I am going to bid Ugochi goodbye, I don’t think she will be very happy if I left without a goodbye.”
I forced a smile immediately. “Sure, bid her for me as well. although I might still go see her before we leave in the evening.” I said
“Alright, will do.” Megan said quickly and then walked out.
I sat on the bed, leaving the luggage box half-open as I went right back to my disturbing thoughts. Speaking about losing control of my relationships, talk about the main cause of my headache, the chief reason behind my problems…
Mr. Blackwood! I know we don’t share that much of a bond on an emotional level but I had good times with him, now everything is just going south. I say he is the chief cause of my problems because my intuition tells me that the only reason why Jennifer wants me away from Jimmy is because she wants me with Mr. Blackwood.
Yes, it wasn’t a secret that Jennifer yawned to have me with Mr. Blackwood, not because she thought it was what I needed but for the benefits of it. She just wanted me to have a rich boyfriend because it benefits her as well.
With how desperate she is, I can't help but wonder what else she said to Mr. Blackwood. She could have possibly offered herself up to him as well. The thought of an affair between Mr. Blackwood and Jenny made my heart skip, just what if?
To think that my issues with Mr. Blackwood was one without a backbone of contention, he wants me away from Jimmy, but why? He doesn’t have a personal vendetta against Jimmy, so I can say for sure that this has nothing to do with Jimmy. In fact, he became offended from the first day.
Was he being possessive? But why would he even be possessive? He only wants my body and he gets that anyway, so why should it matter to him who I date? Why can't he just let this matter go? He was having sex with me quite alright, I do not resist him, not even if I wanted to.
I sighed and took a deep breath, I needed to stop thinking of all this, I was too young to develop Blood pressure issues. I decided to go outside for a catch of fresh breath, but just as I stepped out of the room and looked down the balcony, my eyes caught sight of Mr. Blackwood and Darky, they seemed to be having a bit of a disagreement but I couldn’t hear what they were saying.

** Omniscient narrator **
Mr. Blackwood returned to his room to vent after an argument with Darky. He couldn’t believe the audacity of the young man to request his job back. He was never serious with it and now that he has lost it, he wants Mr. Blackwood to do something about it.
Darky was a womanizer, a useless one at that. He wasn’t even good at the job but Mr. Blackwood had given it to him because he owed Darky’s uncle a favor. However, he was not going to let a favor owed be the reason for his multi million project to fail.
Forget about Darky, Mr. Blackwood was stressed about other things. He was going back to New York tonight because he had received the sad news of a fire outbreak in his mansion. The structure was never a problem to him but he had things inside that house that he valued more than his life, things so important to him that he would risk the collapse of this project to ensure that they are in safe hands.
Who knew what the fire department could savor from the fire. The caller had emphasized that it was a big fire and that freaked him out. But how did his house catch fire to begin with? The caller mentioned a faulty electric connection but Mr. Blackwood knew better than that, that was a wrong hypothesis, his electrical structure was in perfect condition with monthly maintenance, if there was a fault, the electrician could have figured it out during the last maintenance.
It was at a time like this that Mr. Blackwood regretted dismissing his workers like he always does before leaving the country. He didn’t trust anyone with his apartment in his absence, if there was someone there, they could have prevented the spread of the fire and at least he would have a witness to give him details of how it went down.
Either way, the incident has occurred, now he just had to find out the extent of the damage. He was going to be on the next flight to New York City!
