# 80 Shocking News From The Doctor

Ch. 80 / 129 Mar 31, 2025

Annabel walked out of the hospital room, leaving Jennifer behind and quickly wiped off the tears forming in her eyes as she did so. She couldn’t understand why she was being excessively emotional these days, it was like the tears were waiting for reasons to pour down at every given interval.

She arrived at the Doctor’s office and was welcomed with a smile. “Mrs. Juliet, you sent for me.”

“Yes Anna, you said you wanted to run a test. Can I know why?” the Doctor asked, they had known each other far back during her college days. She used to be the school nurse but then got promoted to the position of doctor at a general hospital.

“Yes Ma’am. I experience constant dizziness, moodiness and nausea. Also, frequent urination and terrible cramps; please don’t tell me I am going to die, I refused to use google for that very reason.” Anna joked.

She had learnt to stop googling her symptoms on google because they gave the worst diagnosis she could ever imagine. One time they made her think she had cancer but it was just typhoid.

Doctor Juliet chuckled. “You look quite healthy to me, Ann. I have a few guesses as to what might be wrong with you, or right actually, but let’s leave diagnosis to the experts. I am going to need a sample of your blood and urine, you won't have a problem with that, right?”

“Of course not,” Anna said with a smile.

“Good then, it shouldn’t take long to get results, likely less than two hours. I will instruct the nurses to do what should be done.”

Annabel walked back into the room, Jennifer was already seating up, plugging off the strings attached to her body.

“Inpatient as always.” Anna muttered as she took a seat.

“You heard the doctor. I am perfectly fine, I just need a little rest.” Jennifer replied.

“Hmm.” Anna hummed. They both sat there silently for three minutes and then she turned back to Jennifer. “Look Jen, you really hurt me, it is not just about sleeping with my boyfriend because I am not a saint either, but lying to my face the whole time is just another level of betrayal. I don’t know if I will ever be able to trust you again, but I have already lost a lot at this point. I have lost my boyfriend, I have lost my job, even my complicated relationship with Mr. Blackwood is worth mentioning, I don’t want to add my best friend to all this.”

“Then don’t, Anna. I know it is not easy and it is not fair on your side either, every time that we have had an issue, I have always been in the wrong, but don’t ever doubt if I care about you. I might be selfish at times and greedy, I know I wanted you with Mr. Blackwood for selfish purposes but I care deeply for you, forgive me this one more time, Ann. I beg you.” Jenny stated.

“Fine… but just because I can't afford the luxury of being all alone, you are the only thing I have left, my life is miserable but with you, maybe it won't be that bad.” Anna confessed.

Jennifer smiled. “I am glad to hear that, Ann. Even if our relationship is one-sided henceforth, I won't complain, I completely deserve it.”

“There would be no need for that,” Anna said with a small smile. “I could do with a friend right now, I need to set my life back on track.”

“Hugs?” Jennifer asked with a broad smile and spread arms.

“Definitely not, you wont get a hug for a whole month.”

“Aw… that cruel” Jennifer groaned.

Anna chuckled and then sat back. “One more thing… Let's talk about your boyfriend.” She smiled. She knew Jennifer had been avoiding that topic for months now, they probably had a fight but Jenny has refused to mention it, however since she was trying hard to get back in Anna’s good books, this would be a perfect time to get her to open up.

“You are smarter than I give you credit for. Fine, I will tell you.” Jenny laughed.

Hours later, Jenny had been discharged from the hospital. The doctor had prescribed drugs for her to take in order to eliminate the pain from the concussion she had suffered.

They had already walked out of the hospital building when a nurse came running towards them. “Miss Ann, Doctor Juliet wants to see you.” she announced.

“Oh,” Anna muttered as it suddenly dawned on her that she hadn’t taken her test results. She was being so forgetful these days.

“Jenny, the cab is here already, just go in and give me a few minutes, I will join you shortly.” Anna informed her, as she pointed to the taxi in the park, honking at them.

Jennifer nodded and turned to the cab while Anna rushed back inside. She walked quickly down the hallway to the Doctor’s office.

“Anna… I was waiting for you. Your results are out,” Doctor Juliet announced with a smile.

“Oh, I already forgot that I was running a test.” Anna giggled. “What does it say? Do I have to take Paracetamol?” she joked.

Anna hated to take pills, whenever she fell sick, she just sits back and let her body heal itself. Maybe if she was back at home, her mom could have forced her to take them, but since she took responsibility for herself, it was an entirely different story.

“Here,” the Doctor said, handing her a paper. “Tell Jimmy that I said congratulations, he is going to be a father.” She announced with a grin.

Anna froze, her stretched arms unable to reach for the results. “What?” she mouthed, shock in her eyes.

“Yeah, the results say you are pregnant, you are going to be a mother.”

The rest of the words were stolen by the wind, not a physical wind but a mental one as a blockade was formed in her mind. Anna felt her body pause, she could hear the sound of her heart racing.

She didn’t want to hear it, she didn’t want to believe it. If she was carrying a child, then her life is ruined, everything is over!
