Jeremy was seething with anger as he watched Kent get too close to Celeste. Although Jeremy would burn Kent with his rage, he knew that the wolves were completely oblivious to his inner turmoil. They wouldn't separate just because he wanted them to.
In the darkness, Jeremy could barely make out the two werewolves in the distance, but he knew they were talking. He strained his ears to listen, but their words were muffled by the night's heavy silence. He could only see the rogue's smug grin.
Jeremy quickly descended from the tree, his movements silent and agile. The absence of any other rogues in the area gave him a perfect opportunity to act.
As he approached the two wolves, the clouds covered the moon, casting a shadow over the area. But the bright light from the nearby house illuminated Celeste and Kent, revealing their every move. Jeremy's eyes locked onto Kent's hand as it rested on Celeste's, sending a jolt of anger through him.
Jeremy saw Celeste stiffen slightly and pull away from Kent's grasp, but the asshole only moved closer. The scent of their combined pheromones was now clear in Jeremy's nostril, and his wolf howled with rage as the rogue was about to trap Celeste in his arms.
Despite his rational mind telling him to wait for the right moment to strike, Jeremy's wolf got the better of him. He couldn't control the primal urge that surged through him, taking over his mind and body and dragging him out of the darkness.
His fist flew out, connecting with the smirk on that bastard's face. The impact sent Kent's head snapping back, his teeth gnashing in pain. The force of the punch knocked over the table, adding to the chaos of the moment. Kent crumpled to the ground, groaning in agony.
Celeste gasped and rose to her feet automatically. Her expression was a mix of shock and fear as she watched the scene unfold. Her gaze flew to Jeremy before it shifted to the writhing form of Kent on the ground. A flash of worry passed over her face as she eyed the rogue. Jeremy couldn't help but notice the concern etched into her features. He froze, and then the realization only fueled his anger.
He lunged forward and seized Celeste's wrist in a tight grip, jerking her towards the forest. He was desperate to take her back to his territory, to his pack of wolves.
Celeste struggled to keep up with his pace but soon slowed down and broke free from his grasp, her wrist slipping away from his palm.
Jeremy was taken aback, frozen in disbelief for a moment before he could register what had just happened.
As he turned to face her, he was met with an unreadable look in her eyes that sent chills down his spine. She seemed to be studying him as if he was a complete stranger, and it made his heart skip a beat.
Meanwhile, Kent had quickly regained his bearings and launched himself at Jeremy with a ferocious fist aimed at his face. Jeremy's reflexes kicked in just in time, and he swiveled his head to dodge the attack.
Kent didn't give up easily, though. He quickly followed up with a punch that landed heavily on Jeremy's shoulder, sending him staggering backward. Jeremy was quick to recover. He seized the opportunity to deliver a swift kick that sent Kent hurtling into a table and chairs with a deafening crash.
The noise reverberated and reached the house, alerting the rogues within. Soon, a pack of rogues began streaming out of the house, drawn to the commotion like moths to a flame.
Jeremy knew that he had to act fast if he wanted to get Celeste out of there. He rushed towards her, hoping to catch her wrist again and lead her out, but she retreated a step, her eyes fixed on him warily.
"Celeste, what are you doing? Come with me," he urged her, his voice hoarse with desperation. He reached out to grab her again, but she stepped back, evading his grasp.
"No, Jeremy," she shook her head firmly, and he could sense the finality in her words. It was like a cold, hard slap to his face, instantly chilling the blood in his veins.
"No? What does it mean 'no'?" Jeremy asked, taking an unconfident step forward. His heart pumped heavily as he waited for Celeste's response. But what broke his heart was that Celeste took a step back to distance herself from him.
"You should run!" Celeste said urgently, her voice trembling.
Jeremy stared at Celeste in disbelief, his mind racing with questions. "What are you talking about? Run with me. Go home with me. We can talk about anything that's bothering you. You can't just walk away…"
But before Jeremy could finish his sentence, more and more werewolves ran out of the house, each with a fierce look on their face, ready to attack Jeremy.
"Just go, Jeremy," Celeste said, her eyes filled with worry.
Jeremy wanted to laugh. At least the concern on her face was genuine. But he didn't laugh. He couldn't. "I won't leave you alone here," Jeremy replied, determination in his voice.
As the werewolves closed in on him, Jeremy knew he had to act fast. His eyes darted around, looking for an escape route, but he couldn't see any. The werewolves growled and snarled, their eyes fixed on Jeremy. He couldn't help but notice their sharp claws and fangs, and he knew he was in real danger.
Kent got to his feet, too. His eyes were staring straight at Jeremy with venom.
Jeremy knew he should escape. There were enemies all around him. But he couldn't leave. His eyes were fixed on Celeste, silently demanding an explanation, but Celeste eventually turned her eyes away, apparently unable to meet Jeremy's gaze.
Suddenly, a rogue pounced on him, and Jeremy felt his hot breath on his skin. He fought the rogue off, but the next came at him immediately. One of the wolves aimed a punch at Jeremy's face, but he managed to dodge it. Another wolf's punch hit Jeremy hard in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him. He fell to the ground, his vision blurring as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Don't hurt him!" Celeste yelled, her voice filled with desperation and concern.
