Chapter 78: Rules for a Wife

Ch. 78 / 193 Mar 05, 2025

Bryce stood there frozen to his spot as he stared at the back of his father, Devon, as he walked majestically out of his living room towards the exit. Every step Devon took, made Bryce feel like his father, Devon, had him where he wanted.

"So, are we going upstairs now?" came Susan's voice as she hung herself from Bryce's shoulders sounding seductive.

Bryce's shifted his gaze to Susan who was still hunting from his shoulder with smiles covering her face and a stare of seduction.

"Get your slutty hands off me. Are you that desperate for a man to the extent that you lower your standard to a level of begging and throwing your dignity out of the window?" Bryce said with disdain and a frown on his face.

Susan let go of Bryce's shoulder immediately and stared at him, her anger gradually rising as she processed Bryce's words. Bryce squeezes his face staring at her.

"Calling you a slut is even giving you credit because we know they at least charge their clients for their service. You are just throwing yourself cheaply at me. You are worse and even beneath a slut," Bryce threw the words at her through gritted teeth and a resounding slap landed on his face.

He clenched his teeth together staring at Susan who faced him square with anger registered in her eyes and her hand folded into a fist.

"The fact that I am in love with you does not give you the right to disrespect me like ......" Susan began with a frown but she didn't complete her statement and a slap landed on her face sending her down to the floor with the sofa behind her turning into a back support.

She held her cheek in shock and raised her head to stare at Bryce who stared down at her with a darkened face. Susan's eyes widened and her mouth opened as she stared surprisingly at Bryce wondering when he turned into this scary and abusive man standing in front of her.

"I don't take nonsense from women," Bryce spat the words out, a part of him, Susan was already aware of except she thought he had softened a bit with the way she saw him treat Angela.

"Here are the rules for a wife in my house. You don't get to talk back at me or question anything I say. You raise your hand at me and you receive a double back. I am being merciful today because you don't know my rules. You will have your room and never in your life would you enter my room. There will be no love, no sex, no conversation between us. You make sure you don't cross my path. If you see me coming you hide. Failure to obey these rules will lead to punishment. You will be tied up in the basement and three lashes each for the rule you broke. The benefit you get to enjoy is having the title Mrs Moore, and you can publically parade yourself as my wife. You get a black card to take care of your medical bills and anything else you want. You don't come close to my food or water. There are cameras everywhere. If you need anything, call Marcus, Josephine or any of my guards. Picture the rest of your life like this as my wife. We can have the engagement party once you decide," he said and walked away leaving her sitting on the floor with her elbow resting on the edge of the sofa and her hand still glued to her cheek, the side that was slapped.

"He is bluffing. He just wanted to scare me away. He may be cold but not this cold. He was protective of Angela and I am his childhood friend and sweetheart. He is just lying to me. He would do none of those to me," Susan whispered to herself after processing everything Bryce had said to her which sent chills down her spine.

"Josephine!" Susan yelled as she stood to her feet.

"Yes ma'am," Josephine said as soon as she was before Susan.

"Take me to my room," Susan commanded with a frown on her face.

"Yes ma'am," Josephine acknowledged. "This way ma'am," she said after a little hesitation but Susan was too angry to notice Josephine's hesitation.

Josephine grabbed Susan's bag and led the way out of the living room. She exited the living room and took a turn in the direction of a hallway. Susan just followed her as she had never been to Bryce's house before. It was the first time in Bryce's home and she didn't know where the rooms were.

After a couple of walks, and going past the kitchen, Josephine stopped in front of a door and pulled the key out of her pocket. With trembling hands, she managed to put the key into the keyhole and she turned it. Susan frowned wondering what was wrong with the servant.

"Get out of my way with your silly slow movement. What are you, a snail or a koala?" Susan yelled at Josephine and pushed her out of the way.

Josephine stood to the side and watched Susan push the door open after unlocking it.

"What the hell is this?" Susan screamed as she entered the room.

The room was big but it was filled with tall shelves which was packed with dry food stuff. The place was cool. There was a rolled-up mat leaning against the wall towards her right at the entrance with a folded blanket sitting on top of it.

"Sir, ask me to prepare this place for you because he is now determining your status. After the weekend, the guest room will be prepared for you as his wife-to-be," Josephine informed Susan with her head lowered and Susan frowned.

"Is that where his house guests spend the night?" Susan asked angrily.

"Aside from Ms Angela, the master does not entertain guests here. Even his family do not spend the night here," Josephine replied.

"So, is this where Ms Angela spends the night?" Susan asked.

"No, ma'am," Josephine replied and Susan frowned.

"Where was she sleeping?" Susan questioned out of curiosity turning to face Josephine who was standing behind her all this while.

"She was sleeping in the master's bedroom," Josephine replied still with her head lowered.

"And where did Bryce sleep?" Susan asked her frown deepened and her face darker.

"In the guest room and sometimes with Ms Angela in the master's bedroom," Josephine replied and Susan knew Bryce and Angela had something going on between them.

It made sense to her now, why Bryce was very protective of Angela. He was sleeping with her. The thought made Susan begin to hiss like a snake as her chest moved up and down.

"What the hell," Susan yelled. "What does she have that I don't?" she questioned and Josephine took a step back away from Susan who looked like a beast.

"Ms Angela is the master's wife, I supposed," Josephine replied hoping Susan would not hit her with the way she was boiling but she was wrong, a slap landed on her face making Josephine's head turn to the side.

"I am not sleeping here," Susan yelled. "Where are the bedrooms?" she asked.

"Upstairs," Josephine managed to reply rubbing her cheek which had just received the slap.

Susan grabbed her small bag and went back the same way they had come in. Soon she was upstairs and searching for a room.

She was determined to be Bryce's wife whether Bryce liked it or not. She already had Bryce's father's approval. She just needed to take care of Bryce's mother and she was good to go. She found a couple of rooms but they were all locked.

She walked up to another door and tried opening it. It opened and she smiled as she entered the room to see what was inside. It was a bedroom and it appeared to be in use looking at how the stuff was arranged in there. The light was already on.

A door opened, drawing her attention to it. Bryce entered the room from the open door wearing a bathrobe. He had just showered and his fresh manly scent filled the room. His hair wet hair had curled out. It suddenly occurred to Susan, she was inside Bryce's bedroom.

"What do you want her cheap slut?" Bryce questioned expressionless standing behind the closed bathroom door.

"You can't address me like that?" Susan barked standing in the middle of the room.

"Oh, I am sorry, floozy," Bryce replied.

"You can't call me that either," Susan retorted resting both hands on the bags pulled out holder.

"You are in my house and standing in my bedroom with only one motive in mind, sex with a man who is not interested in you. What name best suits you?" Bryce asked calmly.

"I can't sleep in a storage room," Susan said ignoring Bryce's question.

"Who is forcing you to stay here? Do you not have a home?" Bryce questioned and moved towards the bed.

"It's late and I didn't drive here. Your father picked me up from my home and brought me here," Susan replied hoping Bryce would loosen up and give her a proper room for the night.

"Oh look, it's just 7 p.m. Request an Uber and get out of my room before I punish you for disobeying one of my rules," Bryce almost yelled and grabbed a small bottle from the table which appeared to have some female stuff on it.

Susan saw that and realized the servant didn't lie about Angela spending the night in Bryce's room.

"Get out," Bryce yelled at her.

Susan stepped out of the room and realized she was lost. So many turn on the floor. She didn't know which way led back to the place she had come from. She decided to return to Bryce's room to let him know she couldn't find her way back but he had locked his door. She knocked multiple times till her hand was sore and he ignored her.

She began her journey of finding her way back to the living room floor so she could request an Uber and go to her home. She made a mental note to report everything that happened to Devon.
