Chapter 94: Elena's Burial - Part 2

Ch. 94 / 193 Mar 05, 2025

The Moore family arrived at the church. Mr and Mrs Moore stepped out of their car first and walked towards the church ignoring the media who kept asking questions and taking pictures. The guards helped clear the way for them to enter the church. Bryce was next to get down from his car and he was flanked by four bodyguards. The bodyguards stopped the media team from getting close to him as he also made his way towards the church right after his parents. Susan got out of the car and happily enjoyed the media attention despite faking sadness.

"Are you Mr Bryce Moore's woman and what can you tell us about his younger sister's untimely demise?" one reporter asked.

"Yes, I am Mr Moore's fiance," Susan acknowledged in front of the camera. "It is quite unfortunate but the Moore family would not rest until the culprit is arrested and prosecuted for harming Ms Elena," she added making a sad face.

"Will you do us the honours of letting us know what your name is?" one reporter asked.

"It seems like you already know who might have done this terrible thing to Ms Elena, do you mind sharing?" another reporter asked.

"Yes, we do have an idea of who did this to Ms Elena but we want the law to complete their investigation so we have evidence against this criminal," Susan replied. "I am Ms Susan McClean," she called out her name.

"Does it mean you have no evidence against whoever it is you have in mind that you believe terminated Ms Elena's life?" another reporter asked but Susan ignored that question like she didn't hear it.

"Ms Susan, is Angela Anderson the suspected killer the one who shot Ms Elena?" another reporter asked.

"The evidence will confirm that. She was the last person to see her alive though. No more questions," Susan said and made her way to the entrance of the church smiling inwardly even though she put on a sad face.

"Ms Susan," the reporters called after her but Susan ignored them.

The ceremony was very short. The family files past Elena's coffin with Devon leading the way. Bryce walked with his mother and Susan was behind them following Marcus who was right behind Bryce. The rest of the people present followed in the same suit filing past Elena's coffin. A few well-wishers were allowed to read their tribute. Mrs Patricia was next.

"Elena is my youngest daughter and is very lovely. She fought for what was right and put smiles on the faces of people who came around her as you have all testified here today. To know Elena is to love her," Patricia said wiping her tears away.

Bryce was standing next to his mother holding her hand to assure her she was not alone. Susan deliberately stood so close to Bryce like she wanted to fuse her body with Bryce's and Devon stood next to Susan. Marcus stood behind Patricia and Bryce.

"It is sad what has happened to my beautiful daughter and I know we will soon find the real criminal who did this to her," Patricia said.

The ceremony soon ended and Elena's remains were moved to her final resting place. All through, Susan kept clinging to Bryce even though he also kept leaving her to be with his mother. Because they were outside, Bryce didn't want to yell at Susan for clinging to him like that because that would be too embarrassing. They returned to the apartment after the graveside.

"Susan, I don't like what you are doing. Put a stop to it immediately," Bryce said to Susan once the car pulled over in their compound before getting out of the car.

Susan sat in the back seat of the car stunned for a few minutes before getting down and also hurrying into the house. On the ride back to the house, Susan pretended she was sleeping and occasionally leaned on Bryce's shoulder and sometimes she would hug his arms. Bryce kept pushing her away all through.

"Do you not have a home?" Bryce angrily said to Susan as soon as she entered the house causing her to freeze at the entrance.

"Bryce, stop it," Devon yelled at Bryce beckoning Susan to come inside.

"Dad, I don't see any friends here. We need space as a family to mourn Elena," Bryce said to Devon.

"Susan is your fiance and that makes her family," Devon said.

"Perhaps your fiance but not my fiance," Bryce said angrily and headed for the staircase.

"Stop it you two. We have lost Elena and we are just coming from her burial service. Now is not the time for you to argue over unnecessary things," Patricia yelled at Devon and also at Bryce who was already leaving. "Susan, please go home. Your presence is creating problems," she said to Susan.

Susan left the place in silence but deep down she was boiling because of the way Patricia sent her away.

"What is wrong with this woman? Why can't she accept me as Bryce's wife-to-be but welcome Angela with open arms," Susan thought once she was outside.

Susan got into her car and angrily drove out of the compound. She called Eva on her way out of the compound.

"Eva, get your men to start monitoring Patricia Moore. I want to know why she accepted Angela but won't accept me and I also want to know what she thinks of Angela right now," Susan said.

"Yes, please. And thank you, Bernard and I are cool now," Eva appreciated.

"That is good to hear but be careful. He must not know our secret. I have brought him to you. It is now up to you to make him fall in love with you but keep him out of our business. Do you understand?" Susan said.

"Yes, I do," Eva said and the call ended.

Back at the Moore family house, Bryce had angrily scattered everything in his room and was lying on his bed in tears.
