Chapter 88: Break Up with Me

Ch. 88 / 89 Apr 03, 2026

Bella's POV

"UUGGHH!" I screamed in frustration.

"Um...okay...I won't pick Lilies as my wedding flowers if it's that much of a problem for you," Jane commented.

"No...it's not you. I am just...so frustrated! Ugh!" I exclaimed.

"Why, what's wrong?" Jane put her planning book down and looked at me curiously.

"It's Aaron," I said and tried to hold back tears.

"What did that imbecile do this time?" Jane asked.

"Nothing. He did nothing," I almost choked on my words.

"I don't get it," Jane said.

"I wanted to break up with him. I NEED to! But he won't leave me. If anything, he is latching on to me even harder than before," I buried my face in the pillow.

Jane looked at me with shock. "Why would you want to break up with him? Is he mistreating you? If so, please tell me. Jake and I will kick his ass!"

"No, he isn't. He is the perfect boyfriend," I groaned.

"You lost me again," Jane said.

"It's a long story. You won't understand it. All I can tell you now is that I need him to leave me, but he won't do it," I said.

And now I am having a hard time hating him. Why do I hate him again?

"Aaron isn't the giving up type. He only gave up on me because he knew I was madly in love with Jake," Jane shrugged.

I already tried that with Damien, but he still didn't give up on me.

"Do you love him?" Jane asked me all of a sudden.

I stopped in my tracks. Do I love Aaron? I thought I hated him. I shifted all the blame on him and tried to punish him, but seeing him suffer didn't make me happy at all. I was even more miserable than before.

Yes...

Stupid, stupid Bella! You love Aaron, my inner thoughts screamed at me. I couldn't love him. He is the enemy!

"Bella? Hello! Come back to earth," Jane waved her hand in front of my face.

I opened my mouth to say something, but the doorbell interrupted me.

"Who could this be?" Jane mumbled to herself and went to open the door.

She walked in after a minute. "Um...you are not gonna like this, but..." Jane laughed nervously.

"What?" I looked at her suspiciously.

"Hey baby girl, I am here to pick you up," Aaron announced as he burst into the room with a big smile on his face.

"I'm not going with you," I declared.

"Oh, that's too bad," he said and grabbed me by my waist. He lifted me off the ground and flung me over his shoulder. "See you later, Jane!"

"Alright. Have fun, guys. Don't forget the rehearsal dinner is next week!" Jane said excitedly.

"Jane! Aren't you going to stop him? He is kidnapping me!" I cried.

"I can't fight him. He is too strong. Besides, you're in good hands, right, Aaron?" Jane laughed.

"Affirmative," Aaron agreed and slapped my butt.

"You are the worst friend ever!" I cried as he carried me away to the car.

I didn't say a word on the way to wherever he was taking me.

"Silent treatment, huh?" Aaron said. He picked up a lock of my hair and ran it through his fingers.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked.

"Told you we have a movie date," he said. "I finally have a day off, so I'd like to spend it with my girlfriend."

"You still won't break up with me?" I asked. For some reason, I felt restless.

"Nope. Just because you are crazy and almost murdered me doesn't mean we should break up."

I laughed before I could stop myself and tried to cover it up with a cough, but it was too late. Aaron looked away and smirked.

We arrived at the movie theater, so I didn't argue with him anymore. It wasn't like I had anything better to do anyway.

My heart thumped against my chest as he held my hand and squeezed it. It would've been a lot easier if he had just hated me and left me when he found out. His unwillingness to stop loving me is the worst punishment than anything else. Well played, Aaron Morris.

He took me back to his apartment. "You hungry? I'm about to make is dinner, so just wait here," he said.

"Wait...you are making dinner?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Yes. Do you think I will trust you to make my food after what happened?" Aaron laughed. "I'd like to live to see my brother get married at least."

"Haha very funny," I said and sat down on the couch. I guess I couldn't blame him for being cautious.

After half an hour, we sat at the table and ate quietly.

"I'll go," I said. I've made my decision.

"Huh? Sorry, I need more context," Aaron said as he took a bite of his chicken.

"I'll go to the psychiatrist. I realize that my mind is messed up, so I'll get help. But that doesn't mean I'll forget everything and accept you in my life," I said quietly.

"Good," Aaron smiled. He got up and crouched down in front of me. "I won't push you anymore. I'll wait till you decide to stop punishing me for my father's mistakes."

"I won't force you into anything anymore. Not until you love me like before," he whispered, taking my hand and placing a gentle kiss on it. A wave of emotion washed over me, causing goosebumps to rise on my skin.

"Aaron..." I stuttered, unable to resist the urge to lean in and kiss him. Why was he being so stubborn? I didn't deserve this kind of devotion. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because you mean everything to me," he breathed as if he could hear the doubts in my mind from earlier. His love was overwhelming, but I couldn't deny that it made my heart skip a beat.
