The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 61

Ch. 61 / 300 Apr 25, 2026

The sterile fluorescent lighting of the hospital cast a cold glow over the waiting area outside the neonatal ICU. Victoria sat slumped in a stiff plastic chair, her face buried in her hands. Her sobs were quiet but deep, the kind that spoke of a pain too raw to be articulated. The pink hospital blanket she’d held so lovingly just hours ago now felt like a cruel reminder of what had been ripped from her.

Zaiden stood a few feet away, leaning heavily against the wall, his fists clenched tightly. His breathing was ragged, and his jaw tensed with the effort of containing his emotions. “How the hell does something like this happen?” he growled, his voice low but filled with fury. “A hospital. Cameras everywhere. Security. And yet… nothing.”

Victoria looked up, her tear-streaked face pale and trembling. “Zaiden,” she whispered, her voice barely audible, “she’s only three hours old. She’s so tiny. What if…” Her voice cracked, and fresh tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Don’t,” Zaiden interrupted, his voice sharp but shaky. He turned to her, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and desperation. “Don’t go there, Victoria. We’ll find her. We have to find her.”

But his words felt hollow, even to himself. How could they find her when there wasn’t a single lead? The security cameras in the ICU had all been turned off. There were no witnesses, no alarms, nothing. It was as if their newborn daughter had vanished into thin air.

Meanwhile, in a small office down the hall, Elena paced back and forth, her sharp eyes scanning the details Tobias was pulling up on his tablet. Her usually calm demeanor was strained, her jaw tight with barely contained frustration.

“She’s only a baby, Tobias,” Elena muttered, running a hand through her dark hair. “Three hours old. And someone managed to take her without a trace. How does this even happen? Who does this?”

Tobias, seated at a desk cluttered with files and electronic equipment, looked up at her, his expression grim. “The cameras were disabled with precision. Whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing. Hospital staff have been cleared; none of them seem capable of pulling off something this coordinated.”

Elena slammed her fist onto the desk. “This isn’t just a kidnapping. This is personal. Victoria and Zaiden are like family. Alessia is family. We need answers, Tobias, and we need them now.”

Across the room, Jonathan sat hunched over a laptop, furiously typing. His fingers flew over the keys as he tried to restore corrupted security footage. “The footage isn’t just disabled,” he said, his voice tight with frustration. “It’s wiped. Someone used a sophisticated scrambler to erase everything in the ICU from midnight to 6 a.m. No hospital thief does that. This is deliberate.”

Elena turned to him, her voice low and sharp. “Can you recover it?”

Jonathan sighed, shaking his head. “Maybe fragments, but don’t hold your breath. Whoever did this was good—better than me, and that’s saying something.”

Back in the waiting area, Victoria and Zaiden were joined by Elena. She crouched in front of Victoria, placing a reassuring hand on her knee. “We’re going to find her,” Elena said firmly. “I swear to you, we’ll bring Alessia back.”

Victoria looked at her with wide, tear-filled eyes. “Elena, what if…” She couldn’t finish the sentence, couldn’t bring herself to voice the worst fears clawing at her heart.

“Don’t think like that,” Elena said softly. “You’re stronger than this, Victoria. And Alessia is, too.”

Zaiden stepped forward, his voice tense. “What’s the plan? What do we do? Sitting here isn’t helping.”

Elena stood, her eyes meeting his. “We’re working every angle. Tobias is digging into the hospital’s exit logs and cross-referencing vehicles that left in the last few hours. Jonathan is trying to salvage the footage. We’ll find a lead. We just need time.”

“Time?” Zaiden spat, his frustration boiling over. “It’s been three hours, Elena. Every second we waste—”

“Zaiden!” Elena interrupted, her voice sharp. “I know. Believe me, I know. But I need you to hold it together—for Victoria, for Alessia. We will find her.”

As the tension thickened, Tobias entered the room, his tablet clutched tightly in his hands. His face was pale. “We just got this,” he said, handing the device to Elena.

She took it and stared at the screen. It was a message—simple but chilling.

“No one raises this baby besides me.”

Elena’s grip on the tablet tightened as she read the words aloud. Victoria gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. Zaiden’s face darkened, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

“Who the hell is ‘me’?” Zaiden demanded, his voice rising. “Who sent that?”

Tobias shook his head. “It came through an encrypted email server. No traceable IP. Whoever sent this knows what they’re doing.”

Elena’s mind raced. The message confirmed what she had suspected: this wasn’t random. This was personal.
