The Man They Killed Just Walked In

A Deal with the Devil

Ch. 18 / 20 Apr 18, 2025

Lena’s POV

“This is a mistake.”

Jax’s voice was low, sharp, his dark eyes flickering between Zeke and me as we walked into the underground club.

It wasn’t a club in the usual sense. No flashing neon lights, no loud music. Just shadows and whispers, deals made over expensive whiskey, and men who carried power like a second skin.

It was Zeke’s world.

And now, it was mine, too.

I should have been afraid. Of him. Of the people he surrounded himself with.

But all I felt was cold, steady resolve.

We were hunting the same man now.

And Zeke was willing to burn the world down to get to him.

Zeke moved through the room like he owned it, which, for all I knew, he did. Men stepped aside when they saw him, nodding in silent respect—or fear.

I followed him deeper inside, past the main lounge, into a private room in the back.

The moment the heavy door shut behind us, Jax sighed, rubbing a hand down his face.

“This is war,” he muttered, shooting Zeke a hard look.

Zeke just smirked. “Then let’s make sure we win.”

I sat in the corner of the dimly lit room, watching as Zeke and Jax spoke in hushed voices. The plan was simple. Find Dominic Greco.

Make him pay.

Zeke had connections, people who owed him favors. He would start digging through the underground, pulling strings until Greco had nowhere left to hide.

And me?

I was the bait. The daughter of the man Zeke wanted dead. The girl Greco had tried to kill. It was only a matter of time before he came for me again.

And when he did—

I would be ready. I pulled out my phone, scrolling through the messages from my burner number. Nothing. No updates.

But then—

A new message popped up. A number I thought I’d never see again. My blood ran cold.

Lena. We need to talk.

– Dad.
